Hannah stayed a while, until she got a call from Gilbert, that Thane had made a quick stop at the hospital for some shots. She picked her jacket from the couch, ready to dash out, when Gilbert suddenly chimed into the conversation...

"How are you?" He asked all of a sudden.

Hannah froze, holding her jacket in mid air, "Um, okay?" She replied, wondering why he felt the need to ask. .

"Ah, good, good."

"You said that twice." She recovered, sliding her arms into her jacket, her phone perfectly balanced between her ear and shoulder.

"D-Did I?" he questioned, his pitch rising.

Hannah’s eyes went round, "Is there something wrong with you today? You sound flustered." She observed, now taking off the house slippers she had on.

Gilbert cleared his throat, "I do not need you to worry about my health, just have Mrs Grayson ready and come to the hospital."

Hannah smiled, "Did I hit a nerve?" She teased, but Gilbert didn’t answer. Seeing that she had said something to upset him, she waved the white flag. "Alright, I’ll stop messing with you." Her tone softened, "And yes, I’m doing okay, thank you for asking."

"Just have Mrs Grayson here in one piece." He said, then disconnected the call abruptly.

Hannah held the phone away from her ear, and shook her head. "That guy really needs to work on his temper." She thought aloud.

"What was that?" Brooke asked, emerging from her bedroom, holding a printed copy of her script.

"Mrs Grayson, good news, your husband is in the hospital." Hannah greeted, only to pause and swiftly rephrase.

"I mean, he wants us...he wants you to come see him at the hospital." She tried again, making sure to get the actual good news across.

Brooke’s countenance fell. "I think you should go without me, I’ll stay here and work on this some more."

Hannah sighed and pinched her temples, "Mrs-" her words were cut short by the doorbell.

"Who could that be?" Hannah wondered, as she went over to the door. There were a handful of people with knowledge of this place, and she could count that number with one hand.

"Who is it?" Brooke asked, wheeling over.

When Hannah checked a groan escaped her lips. "It’s Mr Grayson’s cousin, Anna."

Cousin?

Brooke checked the screen and gasped at the young beauty from earlier. "She was his cousin?"

Hannah inquired, "Do we let her in?"

"Is there a reason not to? She looks harmless, I think we should let her in." Brooke answered.

Hannah argued, "But, we’re supposed to be at the hospital..."

"I can’t turn her away, she’s young, and she looks troubled. Please, Hannah, just go without me." Brooke pleaded.

Hannah folded her arms, "What do I tell your husband when he asks why you didn’t come along?"

"Tell him I had a stomach ache-" Brooke paused, knowing Thane, she felt he would insist on seeing her, despite his health.

"Mrs Grayson, don’t you think you’re being unfair? I get that you’re confused right now, but Mr Grayson is giving it his all. If anything, I think you should throw him a bone every once in a while." Hannah said, right before she left for the hospital.

As Hannah went out, Anna came in, and helped herself to sit on the sofa. She crossed her leg over the other and let out a suppressed sigh. "What took you so long to answer? I was getting cold waiting outside."

Brooke watched as Hannah walked over to Gilbert’s car, she pointed her gaze at Anna, who looked like she didn’t even want to speak to her.

"Um, Anna, I’m sorry to do this to you, but I have to leave." Brooke delicately said, "Your cousin is out so-"

"That’s okay, you can leave, I’ll just wait here for you both to come back." She replied, a smile hanging on her face.

Brooke crunched her brows, uncertain, "You want to wait here? Alone?"

"I come here all the time, the stuff you had on was mine in the first place," she traced Brooke’s gaze to the work desk, "Cousin Thane let me use this place for my projects, it’s not an issue."

"If you want to, you could come with us to the hospital-" Brooke’s offer met a sharp decline by Anna.

"Don’t worry, you go see your husband, you two deserve the alone time." She shot her a wink, her suggestive insinuation caused Brooke to shrug.

Flashing a smile, Brooke said, "Fine, I’ll see you later then." Then went after Hannah, to go see her husband.

Once they had left, Anna rushed to the door and shut it tightly. She took out her phone and started to take pictures of the vases and other valuable items on the shelves.

After she finished, she made for the fridge and took out the sole can of beer inside, then helped herself to it. Mid chug, her phone vibrated on the kitchen counter. Her fingers dashed for the phone, dropping the can in mid air, letting it fall miserably onto the waxed kitchen floor.

It was a text, one that made her smile. She called up the number, and searched the fridge for another can of beer. As though she forgot she had already emptied the first one.

The sound of the call going through made her hit her head against the fridge’s glass ceiling.

"Son of a-"

"When are you going to bring me the items?" The voice on the other side asked.

Anna pulled out a bottle of water, and slammed the fridge door. "I’ll get them tonight, but you have to tell me, is it really the same?" she slapped her phone on the counter and helped herself sloppily to the bottle of water.

"I told you, baby my supplier has all kinds of shit, shit that’ll put your old shit to shame. Trust me, you’ll switch suppliers." He assured her.

Anna closed the water bottle, "But is it safe?"

"Of course it is. Do you think I’d sell you something that’d harm you? Just trust me, with the items you’re willing to trade, you’ll get a stash that’ll last you the whole year."

A relieved sigh escaped her lips. "Send me the address, I’ll come make the delivery personally."

"Of course, baby."
