Demi-human Girls Completion Manual-Chapter 961 - 46: Illusory Morning Light (2)
As a result, she wasn’t angry at all. Instead, she watched the slightly annoyed Fisher with great interest, looking extremely pleased.
But before Fisher could get angrier, her playful smile slowly faded, though it still maintained a crooked arc, the meaning behind it became completely different.
She reached out a finger towards Fisher’s ear. Fisher instinctively tried to dodge, but in front of her Mythical Rank presence, all his actions seemed rather futile.
Fisher just looked at her face, while the hair on his body seemed to feel the breeze from her reaching gesture, sensing that her hand was about to reach his ear even without looking.
Yet, even though Fisher’s body and senses had reminded him countless times that this woman was about to touch his ear, the finger she extended deliberately did not touch him, stopping just a short distance from his ear, maintaining a teasingly close distance.
"We’re caught in a bind right now, but leaving is simply impossible. If the internal regulations of the continent are this strict, imagine how its borders might be. Instead, why not take a gamble and head to the Royal Capital to uncover the truth? That way, the Nineteenth Rank Remiel and Lord Sariel will have a reason to protect us, and the Holy Land, comparable in scale to the Tree Continent, can be swayed by your value."
"Ha, Angels are adept at arrogance. You could provide information to them anytime. Don’t even think about the promises Pandora made; it would be a miracle if she doesn’t abandon us as pawns."
Helair withdrew her hand from beside Fisher’s ear with a playful smile, shook her head meaningfully, and said,
"Well, I’m here, aren’t I? I won’t let you become pawns... your ears are indeed very sensitive, Fisher."
"..."
This woman is truly...
Helair didn’t explain further to Fisher. Her words were, of course, heard by Hooked kiss and Mikhail too, who each deliberated on the credibility of Helair’s words. Only Tangze Asuka, this naive sweet girl, was oblivious to the current situation; she was merely watching as even someone as reliable as Mr. Fisher was slightly overwhelmed by Helair Angel’s advances...
She somewhat envied Helair’s aura and strength. Although Helair Angel usually appeared somewhat nonchalant, she exuded immense presence when it mattered. Asuka wished to be someone like that.
But Tangze Asuka hadn’t completely shaken off the excitement from last night’s study of magic under Mr. Fisher. She was a bit absent-minded earlier. Without a basic understanding of Magic, she might still be daydreaming about whether she could become a legendary Magic Girl or something.
"If there are no objections, let’s set off. The Phoenix Species’ base is far from here; I need to use a bit of magic to transport us there."
"No objections from me."
Hooked kiss rather honestly raised a hand to vote, while Mikhail sighed and said,
"I was already free; I shouldn’t have agreed to come on this messy trip with Michael. But since I’m here, I can’t leave anyway."
Come to think of it, he was indeed the most unfortunate among them. He had been obediently working for Michael for half a year, freedom within reach, only to be dragged back into action by the storm stirred by the unexpected guests Tangze Asuka and Fisher.
Helair glanced at him with a smile. The morning light in her hand grew increasingly bright. Before that morning light could engulf them entirely, she said,
"Hm, if you hadn’t left, you wouldn’t have had so many troubles, right? After all, you don’t have a particular place to go; Lord Michael might even continue to take you in?"
Mikhail was slightly taken aback, perhaps reminded of something, as a rare expression of awkwardness appeared on his forty-year-old face,
"I’d better not..."
Hooked kiss glanced curiously at Mikhail, seemingly wanting to ask what exactly his relationship with Michael was. Something seemed off from when Helair had him steal Michael’s belongings.
But he didn’t have time to ask. Helair mischievously and without warning activated the light in her hand, swiftly swallowing them all up, leaving them completely vanished.
And in the distance from where they disappeared, on the walls of Chun Country, just past an earthquake, the dark-haired Elf Chun quietly watched in that direction, seemingly pondering something.
...
...
The warm morning light wasn’t a real, tangible existence, but the feeling it brought was so comforting.
Like having stayed on the coastline all night, with night worn away, seeing the sun rise slowly over the horizon in an extremely exhausted moment; like just waking up, woozy, being awoken by a gentle radiance; like in one’s twilight years, though unable to walk anymore, feeling invigorated upon seeing the sun.
But although these lights were so real, Fisher simultaneously felt an indescribable illusion and contradiction, as if the light was merely an illusion, similar to the particularly vile personality of Helair Angel.
The morning light quickly disappeared, and when Fisher opened his eyes again, he was quietly lying on a green slope. He sat up dazedly, turned his head to look around, only to see Tangze Asuka, also sitting up not far away, clutching her head.
