Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Slander and Rumors

"They wanted to be together, so they deliberately caused a car accident, trying to kill me!"

As Jason Grant finished speaking, everyone was stunned, unable to believe it as they looked over at Natalie and Isaac.

So this was the truth!

This kind of act was simply appalling!

The crowd’s gazes were full of condemnation.

"You’re lying!"

On stage.

Natalie gripped the mic, biting her teeth and spoke coldly.

"Uncle!" Isaac strode over, looking at Jason with utter disbelief. "Uncle, do you even know what you’re saying?"

Jason Grant gritted his teeth, "Of course I know!"

As he spoke, he thrust his hand toward Isaac, right in front of all of Janton, facing the reporters’ microphones, he enunciated every word: "It was you and Natalie Kendall who caused the crash, tried to kill me!"

"You—!"

Isaac felt his uncle must have gone insane!

"Jason! How could you spout this nonsense and slander Isaac like that!"

Vanessa burst out from the side, rushing to the wheelchair. "Jason, are you out of your mind?!"

Jason Grant shoved his sister away, "I’m not crazy! I’m perfectly sane! Everything I said is true!"

Isaac’s eyes sharpened; he immediately bent down to help his mother up. "Mom, are you alright?"

Vanessa leaned into his arms, eyes red: "Your uncle, your uncle’s truly gone mad! He really has!"

To throw such filthy accusations in front of so many people!

"Isaac, what do we do?"

Isaac held his mother close, looking at his uncle, voice cold: "Saying things like this, you’ll have to bear the legal consequences."

"I’m not afraid! You should be!" Jason Grant laughed almost maniacally. "You two are murderers! You should be afraid! Murderers! Killers!"

"He’s not mentally well, take him to rest."

Ansel Vaughn stepped forward, giving orders in a deep voice.

The reporters naturally didn’t want to leave, but none dared offend The Vaughn Residence, so they could only watch helplessly as Jason was taken away.

And as Jason Grant was led out, he kept yelling that Isaac and Natalie were killers.

The inauguration ceremony ended in chaos, wrapping up in a hurry.

Vanessa was being looked after by Ansel Vaughn.

Isaac shielded Natalie as they exited, and just at the entrance to the lounge, they bumped into Ethan Vaughn slowly sauntering over.

He leaned on his cane, the "tap-tap-tap" echoing harshly, making everyone feel vaguely uncomfortable inside.

"What a show, huh, Isaac?"

Isaac looked at him coldly.

Ethan’s eyes landed on Natalie’s face. "Almost forgot to congratulate you, sister-in-law. You’re the Beckett Group’s chairwoman now."

He spoke of congratulations, but the jealousy in his eyes was impossible to hide.

He never imagined Isaac would land such a "big fish"!

So what if there’s a scandal about a nephew and his uncle’s fiancée carrying on?

Natalie’s position as Beckett Group’s chairwoman was absolutely irrefutable and undeniable.

With her backing, Isaac was like a tiger that had grown wings!

And the Huxley family he’d chosen couldn’t even compare to the Becketts.

Ethan squeezed his cane tightly, giving a fake smile: "But Isaac, what was your uncle getting at today? Did you actually do it?"

"He didn’t."

Natalie spoke before Isaac could, voice cold.

Ethan shrugged: "Alright, but now everyone in Janton thinks you caused that crash. Even if your uncle’s just spreading rumors."

"Like they say, gossip travels fast, and denying it is twice the work. Isaac, good luck."

With that, he turned and walked away with his cane.

Isaac watched his departing back, eyes cold, then turned to open the lounge door and brought Natalie inside.

"Stay here for a bit, I’ll step out, be right back."

"Where are you going?" Natalie grabbed his hand.

Isaac kissed her on the eye. "I’ll be right back."

——

Elsewhere.

Vanessa and Jason Grant, the siblings, were in a heated argument.

"Jason, how could you do this!"

"If they could betray me, why can’t I do the same? Sis, isn’t this thanks to your great parenting? I’m his real uncle!"

"You, you..."

Vanessa was shaking all over with rage, biting her lip and panting heavily.

Ansel Vaughn, seeing her state, put his arm around her in concern, his gaze dark and brooding as he looked at Jason.

Suddenly, the door opened.

Isaac walked in.

His aura was intense.

Jason Grant instinctively shrank back, but quickly glared at Isaac.

Isaac walked straight up to Ansel Vaughn and Vanessa, "I’ve cleared the way at the back door. You two should leave from there."

As for the main entrance, it was already surrounded by reporters.

"Isaac."

Vanessa reached out to grab Isaac’s hand, wanting to say something, but couldn’t.

Isaac smiled, soothing her: "Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it."

He exchanged a look with his father.

Ansel Vaughn led Vanessa out.

Only Isaac and Jason Grant were left.

Isaac stood with his back to Jason, silent for a long while.

At last Jason couldn’t hold it in, sneered: "Well? What do you want?"

"I should be asking you that." Isaac turned around, eyes frosty. "Uncle, what do you really want?"

"Or maybe I should ask, who’s pulling your strings? What did they promise you in return?"

Jason Grant’s eyes flickered, lips pressed tight.

Isaac stepped forward, looking at him. "Even if you won’t say, I’ll still dig out whoever’s behind it."

"But Uncle, you shouldn’t have dragged Natalie into this."

"You’ll pay for your reckless behavior today."

Isaac’s tone wasn’t even that sharp, yet cold sweat broke out all over Jason Grant.

But he still refused to submit, sticking out his neck. "Ha! We’ll see!"

Isaac cast him a dark look and walked away.

After Isaac left, Jason finally collapsed, limp in his wheelchair.

After a long while, he fished out his phone and dialed a number:

"I did what you asked. Are you sure everything’s going to be fine?"

"You promised me, you can’t go back on it now. I’ve already gone all-in, torn things up with my sister and Isaac both."

After a few seconds, a man’s voice answered:

"Don’t worry."

——

Lounge.

Knock knock.

Natalie heard the knocking, hesitated a moment, then went over and opened the door.

As soon as she opened it, someone threw their arms around her.

Startled, she looked down in surprise—it was a little girl, and behind her stood a woman.

Both faces were unfamiliar.

She was sure she didn’t know them.

Just as she was about to ask who they were, the little girl suddenly signed: Sister-in-law.

Then the woman said, "I’m Isaac’s aunt."

So the little girl hugging her should be the little niece Isaac had mentioned, the one who gave her the doll, Kiki.

Natalie hurriedly invited them in.

Sylvia Vaughn asked, "I heard you lost some memories?"

Natalie nodded lightly.

Suddenly her phone rang—it was that strange number from before.

The one that claimed she was deceived, that said the death was suspicious.

Natalie immediately picked up.

There was static first, then a woman’s voice: "If you want the truth, come to 27 Kestrelle Street now!"
