Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Did You Miss Me?

Sebastian Beckett said coldly, "They’re just little trinkets, to please little girls. What? At your age, you’re still coveting children’s things?"

Matthew’s face turned terribly ugly upon having his thoughts exposed.

"Dad, what are you saying? Natalie is my daughter. In the future, everything of mine will belong to her and Julian. Why would I covet her things?"

"It better be that way." Sebastian replied sternly, giving no face to his son.

The trinkets he referred to were actually assets worth billions, including property, shops, stocks, and funds.

No wonder Matthew was envious.

"Come over here."

Sebastian called Natalie over and pulled out a few photographs from the drawer.

All of them were young men in their twenties, each looking handsome and charming, comparable to celebrities.

"Take your pick. I’ve had each of them vetted; they’re all promising young talents with good character."

Natalie was stunned.

Seeing her silent, Sebastian frowned, "What’s wrong? None of them satisfy you?"

"Dad." Matthew stepped forward and spoke, "You forgot Natalie is engaged to someone from the Grant family, her fiancé is Jason Grant."

Sebastian looked at his son.

Matthew quickly added, "Jason is talented and virtuous, and he cares about Natalie a lot..."

"Cares?" Sebastian interrupted angrily, pulling out another stack of photos from the drawer and throwing them heavily onto the table, "Is this how he cares about Natalie?"

Seeing the photos, Matthew’s face changed.

The photos showed Jason Grant in intimate poses with various women, entering and leaving hotels and clubs.

His private life was a mess.

"Is this what you call talented and virtuous?"

Those words were simply laughable.

Matthew’s face shifted colors, but he steeled himself to defend Jason Grant: "Young people playing around a bit is normal. As long as after marriage..."

"Nonsense! Cancel that marriage agreement immediately!"

Sebastian proclaimed angrily, leaving both Natalie and Matthew surprised.

——

Coming down from Mount Corvix, Matthew’s face was still grim.

He turned to look at the silent Natalie beside him, saying, "Natalie, come home with Dad later; your mom misses you."

Mentioning Cynthia Kendall made Natalie’s wounds, which had healed, ache again.

But she didn’t refuse, softly agreeing.

However, during dinner, Cynthia Kendall did not appear.

She was chanting in the chapel.

Matthew, depressed over Sebastian’s demand to cancel the engagement with the Grant family, barely touched his food before going upstairs.

Natalie similarly had no appetite.

Back in her room, she received a call from Isaac Vaughn.

"Do you miss me?"

How does one define missing? How does one define not missing?

Natalie didn’t know how to answer and simply said, "If there’s nothing, I’ll hang up."

"Tsk." Isaac smirked coldly, holding the phone with one hand and a cigarette with the other, "Heartless. You ran yesterday; do you think you can run today too?"

Natalie sat on her bed, picking at the sheet, "I’ll sleep at home today."

"Do you think by running back to the Beckett family, I’m helpless against you?"

Natalie curled up, her voice soft, "Yes, helpless."

Isaac blew a smoke ring, looking at the Beckett mansion, snapping a photo and sending it over.

Seeing the photo, Natalie suddenly got up and ran to the window.

The car, mostly hidden in shadow, showed only its front.

But she recognized Isaac’s car at once.

"You..."

"Come down, or I’ll come up and get you."

"Isaac, are you crazy?"

"Mm, so you better come quickly before I get crazier."

Isaac laughed and hung up.

Ten minutes later.

A slender figure scurried through the night, panting as she climbed into the passenger seat.

"Isaac..."

Before she could catch her breath, he leaned over and kissed her breathlessly.

He pinched her waist, holding her close, kissing her throat, then both sides of her neck.

Their noses bumped together, breaths mingling.

His hand slipped under her clothes, pushing through the obstacles.

"No!" Natalie held his hand, her eyes glistening, "Not here."

Isaac, too, felt constrained by the car.

He controlled his breathing, lips pressed straight, jaw tight, trying hard to endure.

Then he held her tightly, kissing her fiercely once more, and took her back to The Vaughn Residence.

They sneaked in through the back to avoid the people in the front hall.

In the bathroom.

Natalie stood beside the shower, avoiding the hearing aid in her ear, splashing water on herself; her skin blushing pink under the steaming hot water.

Soon, someone approached from behind, enclosing her in their arms.

"Need help washing?"

"No need."

She avoided his hand, holding her chest and backing away.

Isaac didn’t let her leave, pulling her slim waist back into an embrace.

His lips pressed against her forehead, asking her once again what he had asked on the phone earlier, "Do you miss me?"

Natalie stood on tiptoe to kiss his lips.

Isaac’s eyes darkened, and the next moment he pinned her against the white tiled wall, claiming her fiercely.

The cool from behind, the heat from the front.

The contrast of ice and fire left Natalie’s body trembling, her legs too weak to stand.

Her heartbeat rose alongside her body temperature, as the bathroom heat covered both in a thin layer of sweat.

The bath just taken seemed wasted.

Isaac embraced her loosely and rinsed casually, then carried her horizontally to the bed, where he devoured her in an instant.

Afterwards, Natalie lay in the crook of his arm, seeing him reach for a cigarette, and stopped him.

"Can you not smoke?"

Isaac looked down at her, "Are you managing me?"

Natalie let go.

He chuckled and kissed her hair, "Alright, I’ll let you manage."

Natalie looked at this face in front of her; the deep black eyes had a captivating charm.

Handsome and seductive.

Despite the scoundrel beneath, being attracted to him was inevitable and understandable.

Indeed, he’s "a feast for the eyes."

She sat up, "I went to Mount Corvix today."

Isaac’s eyes flashed.

He knew her grandfather, Sebastian Beckett, lived on Mount Corvix.

"Went to see your grandfather?"

"Mm." She nodded, "Grandpa had me sign a lot of things, my hand got sore from signing."

"Oh?" Isaac asked indifferently, "What did you sign?"

She counted on her fingers, saying so much she couldn’t recount everything.

"That’s about it, I suppose."

Her tone was plain and ordinary.

Isaac playfully pinched her nose, "Wow, little rich lady. Makes what I give you seem shabby; do you despise it?"

"What you give me is also important."

A man willing to spend money on you might not love you, but a man unwilling certainly doesn’t.

Perhaps he had a bit of genuine affection too.

Natalie knelt, looking at him, "We’re married; everything is community property now."

His smile remained unchanged.

She asked, "Do you want it?"

Without hearing his reply, she tilted her head as if puzzled, as if troubled, "Don’t want it? Then what do you want?"

Isaac’s smile faded gradually.

"If I want it, would you give it?"

Without waiting for her answer, he casually changed the topic.

"I’m hungry. Are you?"

Natalie touched her stomach and nodded.

At midnight, the two went downstairs to find food.

Isaac was cooking noodles, Natalie leaning against him, yawning sleepily.

"Almost ready."

He tilted his head and kissed her, "Go get the plates."

Obediently, Natalie turned and came back with two plates.

Isaac turned off the heat and served the noodles.

Just as they were about to leave the kitchen to eat, suddenly, the closed kitchen door opened.

A man in a dark grey suit, with a clear and handsome face, tall stature, stood there, but his right hand rested on a cane.
