Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 136: Even a Thousand Cuts Would Not Be Unjust for Him
"Grandpa promised you something, I can give it to you, but I also have a way to take it back."
Natalie Kendall stared into Isaac Vaughn’s eyes, speaking calmly.
It seemed she had found something that could threaten him.
After all, staying by her side, pretending to love her, wasn’t that his purpose?
A bitterness filled Isaac Vaughn’s heart.
This was all his own doing.
So ending up here, even being sliced a thousand times wouldn’t be unjust.
He grabbed Natalie’s hand, his tone humbled to the dust: "Don’t be like this. We agreed not to give up on each other, remember? I won’t leave you, I won’t divorce you." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"Do you think you can get more out of marriage?" Natalie retorted.
There was a sound, like a blade piercing the heart.
Isaac felt as though she’d stabbed him in the heart with a knife.
She had categorized all his thoughts, all his feelings, as manipulative.
After all, his initial intent was indeed not pure.
"I’m not..."
"You weren’t thinking this way?" Natalie interrupted him, pulling her hand away, looking at him with an "Do you think I still believe you?" expression: "Then sign the divorce papers. Take what you deserve, disappear."
"I can’t," Isaac said.
It seemed he planned to continue being a scoundrel.
Natalie furrowed her brows lightly, her eyes openly showing annoyance.
Isaac pretended not to see, "Hungry? Come out and get something to eat."
Then he walked out first.
His retreating figure looked unmistakably like escape.
Natalie didn’t go out; she got up and locked the door.
Outside.
Isaac heard the click of the lock and paused.
He looked back at the closed bedroom door, using deep breaths to alleviate the pain in his heart.
The next morning, Natalie woke up not seeing Isaac, with only breakfast left on the dining table.
There was both Chinese and Western style food.
Natalie glanced at it and then turned away to open the fridge, grabbed a bottle of milk, and went to work.
She had a business lunch at noon.
By the time it ended, it was already past two in the afternoon.
Just after parting ways with the other party, Natalie received a call from an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"It’s Grandma Rivers! It’s Jordan’s sister, Jordan is missing! He might have run off to find you! You, you how could..."
Grandma Rivers was anxious, speaking incoherently.
Natalie listened as she quickly walked to her car.
She got in the car.
She said to Grandma Rivers on the other end: "I understand. I’ll go there now and wait for him."
Luckily, the restaurant where she had lunch was not far from Beckett Group.
minutes later.
Natalie saw a small figure in the lobby of Beckett Group.
Jordan Rivers was wearing a blue shirt and gray pants, with his little backpack beside him, quietly sitting on the sofa.
Natalie furrowed her brows and walked over.
Hearing footsteps, Jordan turned his face to look.
Seeing Natalie, his eyes brightened, and he jumped off the sofa and ran over.
"Sis!"
Originally he spread his arms wanting to hug Natalie, but seeing her cold expression, he could only lower his head, letting his arms drop, grasping at the hem of his shirt.
"How did you get here?"
As she finished speaking, she heard Isaac’s voice behind her: "Little Ear?"
Isaac walked forward a few steps, seeing Jordan, and was surprised: "Jordan?"
Jordan opened his mouth to call him: "Brother-in-law."
Hearing this title, Natalie’s face turned colder.
Frightened, Jordan retreated, then stumbled back, landing on the ground.
He fell hard, tears immediately rolling down his cheeks.
Seeing this, Isaac could only go over and pick him up.
Jordan, being just a child, clung tightly to Isaac’s neck, sobbing uncontrollably.
