Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 122: She Lifted Her Head and Met a Pair of Red-Rimmed Eyes
"Sir, do you have low blood sugar?" The nurse supported Isaac Vaughn’s arm, grabbed a handful of candy from the small dish on the consultation desk, and stuffed it into his hand, "Quick, eat one."
Isaac Vaughn clenched the candy, his voice hoarse, "No, thank you."
He withdrew his arm from the nurse’s hand and slowly stood up.
The nurse saw his pale face and still advised him with concern, "If you’re feeling unwell, you should see a doctor immediately. You’re already in the hospital, don’t delay."
Isaac Vaughn nodded absentmindedly and arrived at Natalie Kendall’s ward.
The door wasn’t fully closed, leaving a thin gap.
With just a gentle push, he could see Natalie Kendall.
But his arms felt as though they’d been removed, unable to lift even a bit to push the door.
In his struggle and hesitation, he heard voices coming from inside—
Tristan Jordan came unexpectedly.
Natalie Kendall had tried several times to persuade him to leave, but he acted as if he couldn’t hear her.
Actually, Nina Abbott was enough to take care of her since she didn’t require much assistance.
With Tristan Jordan there, at least Nina Abbott didn’t have to rush back when buying soup and food for her.
"Now that Nina’s not here, what do you want to ask me?"
Natalie Kendall spoke first.
Tristan Jordan sighed lightly.
He specialized in psychology and prided himself on hiding his emotions.
Yet, unexpectedly, he revealed too many flaws before her, allowing her to see through him.
Tristan Jordan looked at Natalie Kendall, half-reclining against the headboard, deciding not to beat around the bush, he asked directly, "Miss Kendall, have you regained your memory?"
As he spoke, Natalie’s eyes flickered.
Outside the ward.
Isaac Vaughn felt a buzzing in his ears, his heart raced, and for those few seconds, his mind went blank.
His hand braced against the wall to barely stand steady, and when he regained himself, cold sweat had soaked his back.
He opened his mouth, took a deep breath.
Inside the ward.
Natalie Kendall, though not answering Tristan Jordan’s question, her silence was acknowledgment enough, no need for further words.
Indeed.
Tristan Jordan didn’t know whether he should breathe a sigh of relief or become more anxious.
She had regained her memory, so she wouldn’t keep Isaac Vaughn’s child.
Yet she seemed not intending to break completely with Isaac, otherwise she wouldn’t have gone all the way to Rhovan for surgery, just to keep Isaac in the dark.
What was she planning?
"Miss Kendall, I’m employed by Old Mr. Beckett, you can completely trust me. Whatever you want to do, I can be your weapon."
Natalie Kendall looked at him, without speaking.
Tristan Jordan continued, "Since you’ve regained your memory, then there’s another thing you should know."
"Regarding Old Mr. Beckett and Isaac Vaughn, they have an agreement."
"Let’s talk about this later," Natalie suddenly interrupted Tristan Jordan.
Outside the ward.
Isaac Vaughn released his hand from the wall, decisively turned and left.
He went to the garden outside the inpatient department and sat on a bench.
For over ten minutes, his mind maintained a blank state.
"Oh no! Be careful!"
Until a fragrant, soft little bundle bumped into his arms.
Isaac Vaughn instinctively held that small bundle, looked down—it was a little girl with pigtails, like a doll.
The girl’s mother, wearing a patient’s gown, hurried over, apologizing repeatedly, "Sorry! Sorry! Baby, quickly say sorry to the big brother."
The little girl looked at Isaac with big, bright eyes, her voice childish, "Bot can’t say sorry. Bot is so pretty."
"Oh baby." The girl’s mother hurriedly pulled her close, "Pretty is used to describe girls."
The little girl leaned against her mother’s embrace, stole a glance at Isaac, and then shyly buried her head in her mother’s arms. But within a few seconds, she couldn’t help but peek again.
Looking at the little girl, Isaac Vaughn suddenly felt a sharp dryness in his throat and a slight sting in his eyes.
If the baby in Natalie Kendall’s belly could be born safely and grow up, would it be like this little girl, like a little angel?
Just thinking of this possibility, his heart felt like it had been sliced by a knife.
"Candy."
Suddenly, the little girl pointed at the candy in Isaac’s hand.
Isaac looked at his palm—it was the candy the nurse mistook that he needed for his low blood sugar and gave him.
He handed all the candy to the little girl.
The girl’s mother urged her to thank him.
Yet the girl eagerly unwrapped a candy and ate one, then murmured in her childish voice, "Tank you, pretty bot."
"Oh baby, I’ve told you pretty is used for girls."
The girl’s mother worried Isaac Vaughn might be upset.
Isaac’s hoarse voice said, "It’s alright," he got up and left.
The girl looked at his back, curiously asked her mother, "Mama, why does the bot look like he wants to cry? Isn’t it just babies who cry?"
The girl’s mother lovingly pinched her daughter’s nose tip, "You know you’re a crybaby."
Before leaving the garden, Isaac overheard nurses passing by discussing that mother and daughter.
They said the mother had to leave the hospital in the afternoon due to inability to pay for further treatment, and her daughter was really understanding and adorable, losing her mother would be too pitiful. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Isaac paused, then went to the payment desk and anonymously topped up the mother’s account with a million dollars, enough for her subsequent treatments.
This way, the girl wouldn’t lose her mother.
The mother wouldn’t lose her child.

Natalie Kendall took a nap, and when she woke up, it was already past three in the afternoon.
Nina Abbott nestled on the couch beside, fiddling with her phone, saw her wake up, put the phone down and said, "Tristan Jordan went to buy you a little cake."
Natalie Kendall nodded lightly.
Nina Abbott continued, "Nat, is Tristan Jordan interested in you? He certainly doesn’t act like a subordinate to a superior."
Before Natalie Kendall could reply, there were sudden noises from outside.
Nina and Natalie exchanged glances, ran to the door to check.
Natalie Kendall also curious, half-lifted her body to look towards the door, saw nothing but heard Nina’s surprised voice, "Why are you here?"
Sensing something.
Natalie Kendall lifted the quilt and was about to get out of bed.
But the more hurried she became, the more she struggled even with her slippers.
Just as she was still wrestling with her slippers, a pair of black shoes suddenly appeared in her line of sight.
She failed to stabilize her body and leaned forward.
A tugging pain in her belly made her frown and inhale sharply, the next moment, she was held into a familiar, cool embrace.
The familiar scent enveloped her.
She lifted her head, meeting a pair of reddened eyes.
