Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 101: Isaac Vaughn Would Never Be With Someone Who Has Nothing
Leo reacted quickly, stepping back just in time to avoid being hit by Natalie.
Furious, he raised his hand and slapped the bottle out of her hand.
"Nat!"
Nina hurriedly pulled Natalie back.
In her panic, she lost her balance and was about to fall with Natalie—
A pair of warm, strong hands suddenly gripped her shoulders from behind, steadying her.
Startled, Nina turned her head and saw the cold, chiseled face of a man.
In that instant, she heard her own heart pounding, and her face flushed red.
"Brother?"
Natalie looked at the man behind Nina, her voice filled with surprise.
Nina was equally shocked, "That’s your brother?"
Julian looked at Leo with a cold expression.
Among Leo’s friends, someone recognized him and immediately whispered to Leo, "That’s Julian Beckett. Maybe we should let it go for today?"
Leo’s face was full of reluctance, but he had no choice but to back down.

Julian led Natalie and Nina out of the bar, unlocked the car, and let them get in first.
"Brother, what about you?"
Julian didn’t answer, turning back towards the bar.
Inside the car.
Nina kept staring at the bar’s entrance.
"Nat, your brother isn’t going back to teach them a lesson, is he?"
There was worry in Natalie’s eyes too.
"Is your brother going to be okay? Should we go check?"
Just as they were about to get out, they saw Julian’s tall figure walking steadily out of the bar.
He opened the driver’s door and got in.
Natalie looked him over from head to toe, not seeing any injuries, and breathed a sigh of relief.
Julian started the car, driving a while before asking Natalie:
"Where’s your friend’s house?"
"I’m from Seaharbor, I’m currently staying at my aunt’s place. Trelliside."
Nina interjected to answer.
Julian navigated to Trelliside.
After dropping off Nina, he took Natalie home.
The car stopped beneath the building where Natalie was staying.
He turned off the engine.
Natalie didn’t rush to get out of the car.
She sensed that her brother had something to say to her.
A long pause.
Julian spoke, "You did it because of Isaac, didn’t you? You found someone to attack Frederick Whitman."
Natalie was not surprised that her brother knew about this.
"That guy today, Leo, he’s Frederick Whitman’s nephew, so he troubled you because of him."
"But ultimately, this all leads back to Isaac Vaughn."
"Nat, you and Isaac aren’t suited for each other, you should break up."
Finally, Natalie heard the words she had been expecting.
She had long guessed her brother would say this.
She turned to Julian and said seriously, "I won’t break up with Isaac."
"Do you know why he’s with you? He..."
Julian hesitated.
"When he got together with me, I had nothing."
Julian scoffed, "Nat, you’ve never had nothing. And Isaac, he wouldn’t be with someone who has nothing."
"So, everyone around me must be after something, right?" Natalie replied indifferently. "Just like Jason Grant, who’s after my ten percent stake in the Beckett Group."
"Brother, you and Dad also want to reclaim my shares."
"So you think Isaac must be after something too. After all, no one could truly care for me."
"Am I not worthy?"
Hearing this, Julian frowned.
The truth he wanted to tell suddenly felt unspeakable.
Natalie quietly opened the car door and got out, her silhouette quickly disappearing.
Julian also got out, leaning against the car to light a cigarette.
After smoking it to calm his nerves, he was just about to get back in the car when his phone rang.
He checked it, seeing a friend request.
Normally, he wouldn’t add strangers.
But the request noted it was from Natalie’s friend, Nina Abbott.
Thinking of that girl tonight.
He inexplicably accepted the request, put away his phone, and drove off.
——
Beckett Group.
Tristan Jordan came in the morning to deliver documents to Natalie, bringing her a cup of coffee as well.
After thanking him, Natalie stopped Tristan as he was about to leave.
"Wait a moment, Assistant Jordan, I have something to tell you."
She took out the transfer order and handed it to him.
Tristan took it, his face immediately darkening.
His slender fingers clenched the transfer order as he recalled Isaac’s words, "You’ll know my qualifications when you receive your dismissal."
Now it had come.
Though not a dismissal, it was no different for him.
His brave front in Isaac’s presence dimmed into ridicule.
He had lost utterly.
"Miss Kendall, did I not do a good job?"
Natalie replied earnestly, "Of course not. Assistant Jordan, your capabilities are outstanding, being my assistant is beneath you. In this new role, I trust you’ll achieve even greater things."
Tristan laughed self-deprecatingly, "Miss Kendall, may I ask, was this Vice President Vaughn’s suggestion?"
"Perhaps he wanted you to dismiss me."
Natalie lowered her eyes.
Tristan was right.
Isaac indeed wanted her to fire him.
But Tristan was her grandfather’s recommendation, truly capable, and she needed to retain such talent for Beckett Group.
She transferred Tristan not because of Isaac.
But because she noticed Tristan’s affection for her.
Keeping someone who harbored romantic feelings for her at work was not beneficial to anyone involved.
——
Vivienne Jordan heard from her mother that her brother came home drunk.
She brought a cup of honey water upstairs, and indeed, a strong, pungent smell of alcohol filled the air as she opened the door.
"Brother, what’s wrong? Why did you drink so much?"
Vivienne frowned, placing the honey water on the bedside table, trying to help her brother up to drink, but no matter how she tried, she couldn’t lift him.
By chance, she noticed a piece of paper on the floor.
When she picked it up, it turned out to be a transfer order.
Hadn’t her brother been doing well as Natalie’s assistant?
Why was he suddenly transferred?
She knew her brother worked late nights, sacrificing much to help Natalie.
And what did he get in return?
Being dismissed inexplicably by Natalie.
Vivienne felt indignant on her brother’s behalf, full of anger and injustice.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Jessica Vance calling.
——
"What happened? Why are you so upset?"
Jessica asked Vivienne.
Since exchanging contact details last time, they had kept in frequent touch.
Vivienne bit her lip, unable to hold back from venting to Jessica.
"How could Natalie do this! She has no conscience! She deserves to be used and not know it!"
Jessica’s eyes flickered.
"You said before that Isaac isn’t sincere with Natalie, that he’s using her. So now Natalie is being used by Isaac?"
Vivienne pursed her lips.
Her brother had strictly forbidden her from discussing this.
Seeing this, Jessica said, "Your brother has been kicked aside by Natalie, don’t you feel bad for him?"
"Of course, I do..."
"Exactly. Someone like Natalie deserves a bit of a lesson."
——
After parting ways with Vivienne, Jessica sat in her car.
She contemplated for a long time before deciding to dial a number she hadn’t called in a long time.
