Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 271
Luck was on Aaron’s side.
The dungeon he entered was the dungeon that fulfilled the required conditions for him to enter Rank-5. In fact, the power levels of the monsters present are much higher than required.
The minimum level of the monsters was at 1100, and the maximum was at 1300. There were only three levels in total.
The first level was filled with monsters between 1100 and 1200, while the second level monsters were between 1200 and 1300 levels.
Even though that was the case, when he first entered the dungeon, he still pushed through the monsters in the first level because these monsters were undead. Every monster is an undead.
Some were skeletons, some were ghouls, some were spectres, and so on, but there was not even a living monster present here, which made him think that the Boss would most likely be an undead monster.
When he faced the highest on the first level, even though he didn’t know whether there was a Boss Monster or not, he was sure that if there was one, that one would definitely be at a level that could fulfil the required level per the quest. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
There was a chance that the dungeon might be a multi-species dungeon, with living on one level and undead on another level, which could mean that there is a chance that the Boss might not be an undead monster.
Even though that was the case, the chances were high, and the fact that it was the first dungeon Aaron found in the wild made him not stop progressing through the dungeon.
Whether it turns out to be the dungeon he needed to complete or not, that depends totally on luck, and he has a lot of points in his favour.
So, he gritted his teeth and pushed forward through the dungeons.
When he saw that the second level had undead as well, instead of living monsters, Aaron felt calm that this dungeon might be used to complete the Rank-5 Quest. It fulfils the criteria for the quest, but there was one uncertainty that remained, the presence of Boss.
If there were a boss, then he would complete the dungeon and the quest at the same time, but he has to wait and see, as he has no idea how many levels there are in this dungeon.
After completing the second level, he went to the next level and seeing what stood in front of him, he smiled. It was the Boss Room.
The exertion he went through was worth the time, he thought, but didn’t go into the Boss Room. Instead, he sat and ate food to recover the stamina and the energy lost, before entering the room.
The boss monster was a ghoul, at level 1400, which was a bit difficult to deal with, but his large undead army took care of it.
He has skeletons, ghosts and also Lich Mages, which took care of the boss, even without his intervention. Though a few died, and he had to respawn them using Mana and Death Energy. Except for that fact, he didn’t face any issues while fighting the boss.
Two days, the time it took for Aaron to complete the dungeon. Out of that, more than half a day was used to defeat the Boss. It was not an easy feat.
---
Once Aaron ended the Boss Monster, he got a lot of notifications.
[You have completed the Rank-5 quest.]
[You have progressed to Rank-5.]
Though these notifications brought a smile to his face, but those are not what surprised him, but what came before that, the notifications that came as soon as he defeated the Boss Monster.
[You have cleared the dungeon and first to do so.]
[Do you want to claim the Dungeon Core?]
[Yes/No]
As the first being to clear the dungeon, he got this notification on whether to take possession of the dungeon core or not.
Once he takes ownership of the core, no one else can claim it, unless the person dies. Even then, it might not be easy, as once it falls into human hands, precautions would be taken to make sure that the dungeons can’t be stolen.
It was quite common if the dungeon owner had less strength.
When the owner dies, the first to complete the clearing would get the chance to take custody of the core, and they can do whatever they want with that, but the organisations make sure such things don’t happen.
They can’t stop someone from claiming ownership, but they can stop them from taking the dungeon away from the place.
There are formations that prevent such things. So, even if someone was lucky enough to clear a dungeon after someone who owned passes away, they can’t just take that away. There are no merits, only demerits.
Though there are formations to prevent relocation, there are ways to bypass them, too.
If an enemy of the organisation finds that you are the owner of a certain dungeon, they might eliminate you to make it possible for them to gain ownership and relocate the dungeon.
Such things happened a lot in the past. Though these are rare now, they are not out of the picture, especially when new owners for dungeons appear.
Sure, most of the powerhouses might not make a move if the dungeons are of lower ranks or if they don’t give good loot, but would they let someone weak possess dungeons that can increase their strength quickly?
No, they wouldn’t.
One way or another, they would try to claim them.
So, most new owners would sell the dungeon claims to someone, by not accepting the core as their prize. The dungeon details would be sold to someone, who would send a team to truly claim the dungeon.
This way, the ones who were first to discover them would get some resources without putting themselves in danger.
"Should I accept the core or not?" Aaron wondered.
Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Whatever choice he makes, both of them can put him in danger, hence the delay in making a decision.
