Chapter 258: Chapter 258

A month and a half had gone by since the team left for their mission. There was no news regarding them, but that has nothing to do with Aaron.

Aaron, with his increased freedom from human eyes, hunted powerful monsters to increase his level. He even hunted higher level than required to quickly reach the threshold, so that he could get the next Rank Quest.

He was able to do a lot in this time, and his status shows the proof of that.

There were many changes that appeared on the status panel, one of which was his level, which reached level 1,000, the threshold for the next rank. In fact, he even received the Rank-5 promotion quest as soon as his level hit 1,000.

--

Rank-5 Quest: Clear a complete dungeon before defeating the Dungeon Boss.

Dungeon Requirements: All of the monsters in the dungeon should be higher than level 1000, and the boss should be at least level 1200. In addition to those, the boss needs to be an undead being.

Note: Whether other monsters were undead or not, it doesn’t matter.

--

The Rank-5 Quest was similar to the Rank-4 quest, but there is a huge difference, which makes many falter at this point.

Till Rank-4, the monsters that needed to be cleared are below the professional’s level, but now the monsters needed to be cleared are the same level as the professional’s level.

The worst part was that those monster levels are not the problematic part of the quest. The boss that needs to be defeated has to be at least level 1200.

"Does every professional face such a dangerous quest to reach Rank-5?" Aaron wondered when he first saw the quest. "No wonder, Rank-5 professional is considered as an Elite".

Though most of the students graduating from the top academies reach Rank-4 before graduating, that holds true only for the top academies. Among the students from lower academies, not many would be able to reach such a rank before they graduate.

This was mainly because those academies don’t have access to so many dungeons like the top academies do. This is one of the reasons why the top academies remain at the top, unless an unexpected event like Aaron Skyhart appeared, and they had the bad luck of facing him.

In the previous year’s tournament, one of the top five academies lost its rank. They were demoted directly to the bottom list because they faced Aaron and the others from Dusk Academy in the first event, when these five were returning.

If those five from Sword Academy hadn’t blocked them, they would have stayed at the top, maybe one rank lower than previous years, but it would have been much better than what they gained the previous year.

When they gained the top ranks, the academies would get a lot of resources, which could be used as capital to increase their income sources, which would help the students and the staff to be at the top.

When the academy was first established, the alliance would allocate a few dungeons, free of cost. Using those dungeons, the academy has to build its foundation and has to find new dungeons of higher ranks.

Having less number of dungeons or types of dungeons means the lower the chances of advancing.

Dungeons are not just for levelling up, but also for ranking up.

Every quest Aaron received was to be completed in a dungeon. The first three rank-up quests were okay, as there was no problem choosing the dungeon. The required levels for the monsters are low, and there were almost no restrictions, but Rank-4 and Rank-5 are different.

These two needed to kill an undead boss, and that’s for Aaron.

Rank-1 to Rank-3 Quests are normal quests, which would be common and repetitive for every professional.

Rank-4 to Rank-6 Quests depend purely on the profession of the person. Depending on the Class, the quest varies.

Rank-7 and above, it was said that it depends on the professional themselves. Not much was mentioned about that. Only the ones who reached the peak of Rank-6 would know what the quests would be about.

Aaron is a Death Mage, which is a Death Class. It means, Rank-4 to Rank-6 quests would revolve around the undead. So, if the academy had no undead dungeons, then he would have to search for them elsewhere, either in the wild or under the authority of some other organisation.

It won’t be cheap.

A lot of time would be wasted in search of a dungeon that satisfies the quest requirements, and then if it were under some organisation that the person is not affiliated with, then it would cost a lot of money to enter the dungeon.

Unlike members, who can enter either free of charge or for a very cheap rate, the cost that outsiders have to pay would be enormous.

If the professionals’ family is rich and connected, the quest can be completed quickly, but if they are not, a lot of time will be wasted.

So, academies tend to have a lot of dungeons and different types too, even if they are not profitable or favoured.

This was something that only top academies can do, but not possible for lower-ranking academies.

Transferring dungeons from their birth location to a new location takes a lot of resources, which poor academies can’t afford, if those dungeons don’t give much or are not favoured by most.

Even if they find a dungeon that many favour, they first need resources to transfer it. Before they can do so, others could find it and claim it as their own.

Not having the dungeons as per the student’s needs, like when they have to take a Rank-4 quest, would leave them behind.

There is a lot of trouble with the lack of dungeons, and it is something Aaron is facing now.
