Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 257
Chapter 257: Chapter 257
Aaron came to learn what was happening, at least what was happening in the fort.
He learned that many powerful professionals are gearing up and would be leaving on a mission, and the destination was nowhere near the fort.
Though he was unable to learn their destination, he was quite happy that many powerful professionals were leaving the fort. Though it might decrease the security of the fort, which would be bad if anything happens when they are away, like what happened a few months ago when the monster horde appeared and destroyed the fort. freёnovelkiss.com
It took quite a while to reclaim the region and rebuild the fort. Only after that did the region see peace once again, though peace here is a loose term.
Ignoring that possible dangerous event, which is not very likely to repeat so close, Aaron has a wonderful chance here.
"I thought to slow down my hunting. They were becoming suspicious of those missing monsters. If I continued further, they could find a way to trace it back to me. So, I decided to stop just a few days ago, but now I hear such good news", Aaron couldn’t help but smile when he heard the news.
"With the powerful ones gone, the chances of the remaining ones venturing out would be reduced. I can freely level up again without much worry. I just need to hide from the weaker ones, and as long as that was done, I can do anything I want", Aaron thought as he designed a way to level up as fast as he could and even reach the unreachable Rank-5.
"That Rank-5 promotion mission could be troublesome, as it would have something to do with my profession. If it follows the same as the Rank-4 mission, then it would be quite troublesome. Anyway, let’s reach the peak of Rank-4. I can worry about the mission, after getting the mission", Aaron decided not to stress unnecessarily.
There was no reason to stress from now onwards. The quest may not even would be as he envisioned. So, it was better to wait and see when that happens.
---
Days went by, and the members who were assigned to the mission left long ago.
From the way they left, Aaron felt that something big might have happened, but he had no authority to know what it was.
He could have called Lyanna to know what was happening, but he didn’t want to take advantage of her friendship like that. She already must have paid a lot to give him this chance of staying at the Last Bastion, which made it easy for him to have a real-time experience in addition to gaining EXP fast.
In the academy, he would only get the EXP from the dungeon, but dungeon monsters are not the same as the world monsters. They act differently. It was why many die while in the wild, though they had a lot of experience with those monsters in the dungeons.
Also, for a person, EXP is not just enough in life. They have to learn a lot of things.
It was the reason why the students were deployed to Duskmist and other cities. Of course, if there was no need for the extra personnel, this might not have happened, but it did happen.
This mission was to teach the students that there is much in life, not just killing monsters in dungeons, but also a lot of paperwork.
Many were heirs to powerful houses, or would go on to establish their own houses after they graduated. An increase in the number of people means, the paperwork would increase as well.
They needed to learn about those aspects as well if they needed to succeed in life, but deployment to areas like Duskmist City means slowing their speed at which they gained EXP, which means they wouldn’t level up as fast as they could beforehand.
Lucky for Aaron, and unlucky for others, the cult made a move, which made it easy for Aaron to level up even in that place and later on, with the disgusting move made by the council, he left the city and was free to level up again.
It once again meant that he was in the academy, which means he was missing out on things that could help him in managing his house or territory in the future.
So, Lyanna used her connections to place him in the Last Bastion, where he was free to do as he wished as long as he completed a certain quota of work.
As for the work, one can choose from ordinary chores to hunting monsters nearby for food and other materials. As long as he can keep up with his work, he can stay here.
He chose hunting monsters instead of some chores like cleaning the fort or filing the paperwork. He found them to be boring, but after slowing his levelling up, he thought for a while to take that work for a while, instead of going out just to get some low-level monsters to fulfil the quota of work.
He wouldn’t be earning anything by that.
Having that was just a way for him to leave the fort and hunt the monsters required for him to hunt. If he was going to stop that, there was no reason to continue hunting the low-level monsters.
While working in the logistics division, he could at least learn something, but those thoughts changed when he heard about the team assembled.
Since it would only clear a path for him to continue his levelling, he didn’t bother much with why they were leaving as long as the incident didn’t happen near him or near someone he cared for.
He asked his family and his girls, all three of them, but there was no mention of any changes in their surroundings. So, he ignored about the deployment.
---
Once the team left, Aaron started to hunt the powerful monsters, but kept his vigilance up. Just because the human higher-ups are busy doesn’t mean the lower ones would not be able to find the situation, or that powerful monsters wouldn’t be attracted by the decrease in the number of monsters.
