Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 129
Chapter 129: Chapter 129
"Ready...one...two...three...start", the vice-headmistress, Lyanna, gave the signal to start the duel.
Viren immediately conjured a Dark Sword and started to run towards Aaron.
"Hmm, he is doing exactly what he did in other matches", Aaron muttered to himself, but he didn’t stay still, waiting for his opponent to get close to him.
Aaron has watched Viren’s fight style during the previous matches that Viren fought. If there were a few, Viren would have easily known that Aaron was watching him, but the reason Aaron didn’t worry and watched carelessly was because there were too many people watching Viren’s matches.
Aaron is also sure that Viren should have done the same, and he, like Viren, was not able to identify the other watching them.
Aaron, who has an idea how Viren would fight, immediately pulled out twenty of his skeletons and then started to cast Mana Ball, Death Lash using Dual Cast. Though they are of different attributes, one of Death Attribute, while the other has no attribute at all, it was not difficult for him to cast them at the same time.
While he kept casting these two skills continuously, he kept five skeletons by his side and sent the other fifteen to intercept Viren.
Though Aaron started to hate Viren, there was nothing much he could do. Even the fact that he was the one who was behind that farce, which only came from the seniors, with whom he has a good relationship.
It was from them he learned that Viren comes from the Ironheart family, a family of Weapon masters. The Ironheart family is pretty much famous, as most of them tend to be warriors or hybrids of the Magic and Fighter professions.
Everyone in the family would learn a weapon or two before awakening, and the professions they awakened would also be similar to their trained weapons.
When Viren drew a Dark Sword in the matches before, he came to know that Viren should be trained as a swordsman. If not, he wouldn’t have gotten the skill or learned such a skill.
This can be easily grasped from the information that was available to the public, and many knew this. Though the two girls are the ones who gave him this information, he could have found this himself, except for the fact that he didn’t know about the Ironheart family beforehand and wouldn’t have checked about them.
So, he would have missed out on the information. Other than what was publicly known and what Viren showed by conjuring a Dark Sword, Aaron has no other information regarding Viren.
Viren comes from a famous family, and that means he should have some trump cards.
Aaron was sure that Viren would use them to make sure that he got the leader position of the team, and Aaron had no idea what those trump cards could be.
So, he sent the skeletons to intercept Viren from reaching him.
---
Swish!
Swish!
Viren, who saw the skeletons approaching him, had a sneer on his face and swiped his Dark Sword, thinking that they would be wiped out, but what happened surprised him.
Clang!
Instead of falling and smashing into pieces, the skeletons held against his attacks. They surrounded him and started to attack from all sides. If it were just that, Viren might have survived, as no matter how many skeletons there are, only four or five can attack at the same time, and once they take position, they would continue to be the attackers, while the other skeletons have to stand behind.
This would have given Viren some way to fight back, but it was not just the skeletons that were attacking. Aaron attacked Viren from a distance, while the skeletons surrounded Viren and made sure that he wouldn’t be moving forward towards Aaron, no matter how much he tried.
"Damn it", Viren cursed out loudly.
Viren knew that Aaron was a Mage-type professional. So, he decided to use his close combat prowess to quickly get rid of Aaron and end the match. The quicker he was in doing so, the more points he would gain in the eyes of the academy, but his plans failed.
He was now entangled with the skeletons, which hindered him from reaching Aaron. Moreover, he was being harassed by Aaron from afar, who used long-range attacks at will.
Viren couldn’t think of anyway but to use his trump card. This was supposed to be his way of catching an enemy off guard and was stored to be used when his life was in danger.
"I have to win this match or else I could be at number two or even lower than that. Even though this was for when I am in danger for my life, I couldn’t help but use this now. I’ll extract ten times from the bastard", Viren muttered as he started his final attempt at Aaron.
Aaron, who was keenly watching Viren’s movements, felt a shiver, and he knew whatever Viren’s planning to do, it would be dangerous and not just something one would use in a combat like this.
He felt that if that attack lands on him, it would be devastating, not just injuring him a little to make him immobile for a while. This may make him immobile for a long time and may even miss
Seeing Viren’s intention, Aaron discreetly summoned five ghosts away from Viren’s sight and ordered them to attack Viren’s mind when he was about to launch the strike.
As per Aaron’s orders, they attacked when Viren was about to launch his attack. Due to the ghosts attacking Viren, the attack failed to launch and caused a backlash, which he failed to control as his mind was attacked, and he couldn’t do anything.
Viren clutched his head as he screamed, "AAaarrgghhh".
He fell onto the ground and rolled in pain, but there was nothing he could do to escape the situation. The mind attack from the five ghosts was no small matter, and there was also the backlash that caused severe damage to him.
Seeing this, Lyanna announced, "Aaron Skyhart wins", ending the first match of the final four.
