Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Be the Main Character in Orario?-Chapter 842: Starting the Battle With a Little “Jealousy”
Bell’s eyes moved across the two figures, and he reached a conclusion at once.
’Their bodies have been completely eroded. Inside, everything has already turned into Magic Stone.’
Outwardly, they still resembled themselves, but internally they were no longer Spirit or human at all.
Their physical forms were essentially beyond saving. The only reason they could still move was instinct.
But it seemed they’d abandoned their bodies by choice.
In exchange, their souls remained fully intact—completely untouched by the Dungeon’s corruption.
’They suppressed the Dungeon’s erosion with their minds and bodies all this time... but once they received the message, they decisively discarded their physical forms to preserve their souls?’
’A decisive choice indeed.’
Bell genuinely admired the couple’s resolve.
It was that choice that had allowed them to hold out until now.
’The Dungeon must’ve found their souls too difficult to corrupt, so it compromised—eroding their bodies first, then turning to their souls only at the end.’
’Heh... how ironic. Dungeon, you really didn’t expect this couple to outrun you, did you?’
’Still, exerting power affects the soul’s inner layers.’
’And without someone from the outside to rouse them, their consciousness may slip into deep sleep.’
With that, Bell stepped forward.
"Looks like there’s no helping it. I’ll need to set up some precautions."
These were the parents of his student—parents for whom that student had been pushing herself all this time. Since he’d accepted that one word, "Teacher," then he had responsibilities he should fulfill.
"Teacher?"
Ais looked at him, confused.
"I’m not trying to take your place. But some things must be handled before the fight."
"If I don’t prepare now, the cleanup afterward will be far worse."
As Bell spoke, faint lightning crawled across his skin. His short hair began to grow rapidly, cascading down his back.
In the next instant, a streak of blue light flashed—he appeared before the two figures.
"Boom!"
Two Bells—one delivering a punch, the other a palm strike—sent Ais’s parents flying.
"Envy."
Black mist curled around their struck forms.
"Boom!"
The black mist tore into them like a second impact, as if an invisible force had slammed them again.
Except the force wasn’t striking their bodies—it was jolting their souls awake.
A flicker of awareness flashed through their eyes before fading once more into blankness. But this time, a ferocious glint twisted across both faces, and both fixed their sights on one target.
In midair, Aria’s body shifted sharply. With a flick of her hand, invisible wind formed a springboard beneath Albert.
Albert, already poised, bent his knees. The moment he touched the wind springboard, he shot toward Bell like an arrow.
He wasn’t as fast as Bell’s lightning step, but the speed was monstrous nonetheless.
Even mid-flight, Albert’s hand reached behind him, gripping the greatsword on his back.
As he closed in, he drew the massive blade in one motion, using the momentum to swing it downward in a fierce cleaving strike.
"Clang!"
A slender sword suddenly slid in between, blocking the greatsword’s descent.
Ais stood there.
"Boom!"
The earth around Ais sank under the force.
She felt the crushing power of her father’s strike directly.
But a gentle surge of magic entered her body, making her nearly ignore the impact entirely.
Her teacher’s voice echoed in her ears.
"You’re not yet their match. But with Magic strengthening you, you can at least face them openly with all your strength."
"I won’t help you further. Showing your strength before them—that part is up to you."
"And I’ll hold one of them."
Steadying her father’s massive blade, Ais drew a deep breath. She infused all her magic into her thin sword and pushed forcefully.
"Clang!"
Ais forced the greatsword back completely.
Her knees bent, and she charged straight at her father before he could recover.
"I’m counting on you, Teacher!"
Seeing his student rush at her father, Bell turned toward the other Spirit he had sent flying.
"Oh my... this one looks even harder to deal with."
...
The opening clash on the 90th floor made every member of Loki Familia hold their breath.
Though the battle had only just begun, the terrifying aura bleeding through the projection already filled the hall.
Everyone felt pressure far beyond anything a Monster had ever given them.
All four combatants possessed Lv.8 strength. Even the weakest among them—Ais—was nearly Lv.8. The aftershocks, destruction, and force unleashed in their fight were absolutely not something ordinary adventurers could withstand.
Finn and the other commanders exchanged stiff looks. Even they felt as if the pressure might crush their shoulders.
It wasn’t unbearable—just barely manageable.
But the rest of the familia clearly felt differently.
"Everyone, focus! Don’t assume watching from the side won’t affect you!"
Everyone jolted as if waking from a dream, breaking free of the influence.
But before they could stabilize, the pressure surged again, freezing their bodies in place.
Finn’s expression tightened. Fear was appearing across more and more faces. If this continued, they’d all suffer mental damage.
"Riveria."
Riveria raised her staff, channeling magic through it, and tapped the ground.
"Clang!"
The sound rang sharply in everyone’s ears—and the crushing pressure vanished instantly.
Those who’d been released from it turned pale.
But although their faces were drained of color, the fear that had been overwhelming them faded back.
In that sense, it was good news.
Yet Finn, seeing that almost everyone had been severely affected, did not feel relieved.
"High-level adventurers’ battles are still too overwhelming...."
