Chapter 807: Chapter 807: Bell’s Goal

"After a full night’s rest, the expedition to explore the new floor began the next morning.

Both Bell and Ais knew where the staircase to the next level was, so without wasting any time, they gathered their things and headed straight down.

Upon stepping into the new floor, they were once again greeted by a world of ice.

"As expected, this frozen world really is massive."

The 77th floor, unsurprisingly, was still an expanse of ice.

However, Bell could clearly feel that the environment here was even harsher than before.

"Ais, be careful. The conditions here are worse than the previous floor."

Bell was always sensitive to environmental shifts, though this level of cold didn’t affect him too much. A bit of internal adjustment was enough for him.

But he knew that while he could adapt quickly, the girl beside him couldn’t adjust nearly as fast.

"Mhm."

Ais understood, though she had already sensed how brutal this floor was.

On the previous level, once magic power enveloped her body, she no longer felt the cold. But here, after merely standing still for a brief moment, she felt the numbness creeping into her fingers and toes.

"It’s really cold here."

A bit slow on the uptake. Bell chuckled and shook his head, then reminded her:

"For today, we’re just setting up the shelter. Ais, go ahead and acclimate yourself to the temperature here."

"One day... that’s enough time, right?"

"Yeah, plenty."

A full day felt overly generous to Ais. She was almost certain that basic adaptation wouldn’t even take a whole day—just a few hours.

But she also knew that right now, speed wasn’t important. Stability was.

There would be plenty of time for future training; no need to rush basic adaptation.

Still, she understood she needed to refine her magic control further. Otherwise, spending an entire day adjusting on every floor would be far too wasteful.

Realizing this, Ais took it seriously.

She didn’t want to waste time unnecessarily. She needed to adapt faster to this severe cold.

"Ais, during your adaptation, go scout the floor. Check if the monster distribution is roughly the same as the previous level."

"Understood. I’m going."

Exploring wasn’t an issue for Ais.

Even though the 77th floor was dozens of times larger than Orario, running through it wasn’t that difficult for her.

As long as she pushed "Ariel," circling the entire level wouldn’t be a problem.

The real difficulty would be identifying the monsters.

Ais knew the creatures in this frozen world all too well—either individually absurd in strength or absurdly stealthy. Because their traits were so extreme, mapping out their distribution was no simple task.

For Ais, this was a challenge.

But she had come to challenge the Dungeon itself, so she welcomed the task.

She needed to recalibrate her control over magic power anyway; scouting monster locations was something she could do along the way.

All of this benefited her.

With her resolve set, Ais immediately started her floor-wide exploration.

Meanwhile, Bell’s task was hardly easy.

He turned toward the wall closest to the entrance and stretched lightly.

"Well then... it’s been a while since I built a shelter into a wall."

Even without scouting the entire floor, Bell could already grasp its general structure with a quick survey.

It wasn’t merely similar to the previous level—there was absolutely no difference.

The only change was the increased size of this floor. Thoroughly exploring it would take much more effort.

"Looks like my guess was right—certain sections of the Dungeon don’t change their structure."

"Though each frozen world floor isn’t drastically different, they all have effects that slow down adventurers."

Those "Frost Lizardmen" hidden beneath the snow and ice were the definition of sneaky.

No one entering the frozen floors could handle them easily. Without advanced perception abilities, any adventurer facing this vast white world filled with hidden assassins would be helpless.

The Dungeon hadn’t changed structurally, but its hostility toward adventurers had intensified.

"My target is close now."

Another reason Bell had hurried into the Dungeon was his need for Excelia to advance.

There weren’t many targets Bell still cared about.

He wasn’t sure what the Deep Floors held, but he did have one target worth investigating.

"Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus."

The one on the 59th floor was merely a defective imitation. The true body of the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus was powerful—at least Lv.8.

For the current Bell—this was the perfect opportunity.

Having lost part of its soul, the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus was likely spending all its time repairing the damage.

And losing its most important guardian surely left it distressed.

A Lv.7 guardian was still crucial strength to it, even in its incomplete state.

In other words, the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus was now at its absolute weakest. Which made this the best chance for Bell.

Of course, being weak alone wasn’t enough.

Bell needed the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus to be both weakened and still retain Lv.8 strength.

Contradictory as that sounded, Bell had already made arrangements.

There was a way to make the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus weakened yet still possess solid strength.

Bell wasn’t in a rush yet, but time was pushing him to grow stronger faster.

Which was why, to qualify himself to challenge the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus, Bell had prepared thoroughly—then finally set his sights on it.
