Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Be the Main Character in Orario?-Chapter 778: Another “World”
Watching Artemis swoop toward him like an over-eager maiden, Bell sighed softly but still caught her.
As he caught her, her arms wrapped around him like octopus tentacles. That adorable, delicate face drew closer and closer, those pink lips inching forward as if he only needed to lower his head slightly to taste the Moon Goddess’s lips.
Fortunately, Bell’s self-control held firm.
He didn’t steal the moon maiden’s first kiss. Instead, he brushed a light kiss on her forehead.
"Huh? Just my forehead?"
Artemis puffed her cheeks in disappointment.
She wanted a kiss on the lips—just like the one he’d given Hestia earlier. A simple forehead kiss felt like a huge downgrade.
Bell let out a helpless sigh.
This goddess was perfect in every way—cute, with a figure almost identical to Hestia’s, and long silver-white hair. Hard to find any flaws.
But the biggest problem was the other Moon Goddess sharing the same body.
"Artemis, you share this body with her."
"Mm..."
At his words, sadness flickered across Artemis’s face.
’It’s all that coward’s fault!’
’If not for her, Darling and I would’ve progressed ages ago.’
But that shared-body restriction always stopped her from getting what she wanted, forcing her to stand on the side and watch.
Seeing Freya break free of her virgin-goddess status, even Loki shedding hers, Artemis could no longer endure it.
Now she was the only one left in the entire household.
She was at the very end of the line—how could she put up with that any longer?
’Looks like I’ll have to talk to her.’
’Yes. While Darling is home this time, I will shed this Virgin Goddess identity!’
After that small internal resolve, Artemis pushed down her jealousy for now.
"Darling, next time you have to make it all up to me!"
"Mm."
Bell didn’t argue; instead, he pulled Artemis into his arms.
"I’m back, Artemis."
"Mmm~ Darling, welcome home."
A kiss wasn’t possible, but a hug was fine.
Held in Bell’s arms, Artemis could clearly feel the intense fluctuations from her other half’s soul.
So that one was reacting quite strongly after all.
After their homecoming ritual ended, the five of them gradually calmed down and sat around the central square table.
In front of each of them was a cup of hot tea and a few small snacks.
Even though Loki was absent, the rest could still sit and talk comfortably.
"Bell, how’s the ’Sword Princess’ doing?"
Hestia asked the key question first.
"Even more smoothly than I expected."
"Deceiving the ’Falna System’ is possible, but deception has a high threshold—and it only works when it benefits others. Those are probably the limitations built around that act."
The outcome was bittersweet, but the goal had been reached. Bell couldn’t stop a trace of satisfaction from rising in him.
Hephaestus wasn’t surprised at all.
"The expected result. The ’Falna System’ isn’t as easy to handle as you imagined. Since you operated it yourself, you should understand that."
"Yeah."
Bell didn’t deny it. The Falna was a tool created by the gods for human growth. Fooling it wasn’t simple.
"The price paid is just one of the conditions required to receive that convenience."
"It’s like the Excelia within the ’Falna System’—one can only advance after receiving proper recognition. Bell’s ’fraud’ essentially extended that principle. Although it alters part of the rules the gods created, it also increases the difficulty for that person to gain experience."
"Rather than ’fraud,’ it’s more like ’equivalent exchange.’"
Hephaestus’s explanation made sense.
"Fraud" changed parts of Falna’s rules, while "equivalent exchange" acted as compensation for deceiving them.
It reduced the amount and lowered the threshold of obtainable experience, but raised the difficulty of acquiring it.
It wasn’t pure fraud—it was a trade-off.
And the threshold to perform this was extremely high. Only adventurers strong enough could use it to rapidly acquire large amounts of experience.
In other words, it was "strong-only."
"I don’t think the Falna ever had a rule prohibiting modification. When we made the rules back then, I don’t recall any restriction on that."
Hephaestus remembered clearly.
"Mm, there really weren’t any constraints."
Freya confirmed Hephaestus’s words. She also remembered that none of the gods ever suggested limiting that aspect.
"I think everyone just assumed ’no one would be able to modify the rules’ anyway. And I recall we did establish the restriction that ’gods must not modify the rules.’"
Freya looked at Bell, her eyes curling with playful amusement.
"First, no rule preventing it. Then, a strong-only condition. Was this script set up from the beginning?"
It was obvious—everything conveniently favored Bell.
Freya’s suspicion was perfectly reasonable.
Bell thought for a moment, then nodded slightly.
"I think that’s part of the reason."
"My mother must have coordinated with the other ’world,’ already knowing what help it would give me. So she left loopholes in certain possibilities."
The sudden mention of "another world" made the gathered goddesses frown.
"Another world?"
Bell didn’t hide anything further.
He looked toward the only goddess who remained entirely calm—Artemis.
"The world Artemis comes from."
