Crushing flags and claiming the Villainess-Chapter 149 148- Best defender
The following three days were eventful.
Austin kept visiting the dungeon and slowly, he cleared the mobs of the second dungeon. And now, only the final boss was left. But right now, Austin wasn't prepared to face the creature.
A thirty-foot-tall Orc Lord. Nah, not something he can win against as of now. For that, he needed some points so he could purchase a specific weapon for the Shop, which would help him win against the monster.
[Name: Ashen Maul]
[Rank: B]
[Points: 1200]
...
He currently has around fifteen hundred points, so he was thinking of using those points to purchase the weapon and some potions.
The final Boss would grant him two thousand points, so there was no problem. He would be able to unlock the next dungeon easily.
He was having a good time in the dungeon these days. He has gotten a good handle on his three weapons, and he has used some points to decrease the cooldown time for a few skills which he often uses.
Now, coming back to the tournament, as Sheldon predicted, Elara and Ryan lost their round. Surprisingly, Ryan lost more brutally than Elara. The boy was never given the chance to launch an attack.
Well, that was to be expected since he was facing the Captain of the Ravencourt Academy.
About the President, then she seamlessly won her match. Although not like Valerie, she did overwhelm her opponent with her grace and her Shard.
Now, all the matches have concluded, and every academy has gotten their semi-finalist.
Austin had a copy of the roster, which stated,
1. Ravencourt— 600pts
2. Auroracrest—500pts
3. Runebridge—Drenovar—500pts
4. Avalon—Hener—400pts
5. Ironvale—300pts
6. Stellthorne—100pts
7. Valorian—500
8. Grimhold—hybrid nations—300pts
...
Valorian Academy has brought some of the remarkable students this year since having five out of eight students win their individual matches was no small feat.
Everywhere, they were whispering about how the presence of an S-rank had brought this change or whatnot. They believed that Valerie was training them or something along those lines, that resulted in such favorable results.
Naturally, no one tried to clear the misunderstanding since it was utterly pointless.
Now, the group of five was gathered in the Command Tent to discuss their matches.
"Did you not call them?" Austin asked the President with his brows elevated
The President exhaled a sigh, "I...called them, but..."
Although they lost their matches, Anabelle believed that they held experience that could have helped them form a strategy.
However, they didn't come—or so what did they think,
"I am late, sorry."
Every eye turned toward the person who entered the tent with hurried steps and took his seat beside Sheldon.
Annabelle smiled at him, "Thanks for coming."
Ryan nodded. Sure he was bitter about his match, but not like he would sulk like a loser in his room when he could help his team win.
Rhea released an audible breath as she said, "It's highly unlikely Rudolph would come. I tried calling him...but." although Rudolph was no longer ignoring her, he still was quite disturbed about what happened.
And he clearly told Rhea that he wouldn't be joining the meeting.
"Elara seemed grumpy...well, she always remains like that, so there is no point in waiting for her." The pink head further added.
Annabelle nodded before she finally went towards the whiteboard and wrote something.
Everyone looked at the board and read,
[Current points: 500]
[Next match: 500]
[Duo matches: 200 each]
Turning toward them, she said, "While assuming that we would win the second round, and assumably won't face Ravencourt, then we would get the option to defeat them in the duo matches."
Unlike Valorian or any other school, Ravencourt could put three duos during the third stage, if only they win the next round as a squad.
No, even if they lose the next match, they would get a duo to participate in the third round.
"Did they send the match details?" Ryan asked.
This year, things are being kept quite secretively for some reasons. That's why, it was getting tough to prepare.
Annabelle shook her head, "Nope. That's why we are going to assume that the match would be of the same concept—hunt and defend."
They have been following the same contest style for many years, and just because they changed the pattern doesn't mean they would create a new type of contest from scratch.
Austin added here, "You mean to say, one to defend, one to support, and two who raid?" Although he never participated in any kind of squad exercises, he knew these details.
Annabelle nodded, "That's right," Saying so, she wrote the aforementioned roles on the board.
"I have seen Rhea fighting, and I can tell that she would be a great raider with her dual Shard, which allows her both close-quarter and long-range battles. So along with me, she could be an ambusher."
Annabelle's decision to put herself as the ambusher wasn't questioned since everyone was aware of her abilities. And even if someone might have any doubts in their mind, her recent match proved that she is the perfect choice for their team's forerunner.
Coming to the tactician post, she just wrote Valerie's name, and no one even bothered to ask for any explanation.
Austin smiled as he glanced at his lover and found her looking back at him with slight smugness as if to say, 'Praise me'.
Austin decided to pet the girl a lot when they would be alone.
Anabelle wrote the last role and tapped the marker pen thrice under the name to show her contemplation.
Turning towards others, she was about to say something when suddenly Sheldon voiced, "I forfeit. I know I won't be able to perform well as the defender. I took part as a tactician but since there is only one team performing, I should just rest and see you guys win."
Sheldon was good as a supporter with his skills. But defending solely would be quite difficult for him.
That statement from him made Ryan frown as he said, "Nothing against Austin, but shouldn't you think a little before making such s decision, Ryan? I mean, we are talking about our chances to remain alive in this tournament, so you shouldn't just pull away like that."
Ryan wasn't against Austin participating in the tournament. He just wanted the best player to be in the team, and if Sheldon could be that, then he should have some confidence in himself and take part in the second round.
Valerie also didn't say anything since her interjection here would have hurt her Lord's pride. She wanted him to enter into the second round with his abilities.
Annabelle hummed in response, "He is right, Shelly-Sheldon." She corrected herself just in time, before hurriedly adding, "We need to discern who could be the best option as our defender."
Sheldon sighed, "And how can we ascertain that?"
"Simple. Through a battle." Rhea muttered, and before anyone could tell her that the situation was different, she added, "We can modify the battle in a way that could test their defending skills."
Anabelle nodded, "That's a good idea...and I know just the best way to test them." Slamming her hand on the table, she said, "Okay then, let's meet in the training hall, in two hours."
By that time, most of the students would have returned to their rooms, so they would get enough room for the examination.

No one showed reluctance. As such, the meeting was adjourned.
