Chapter 203: Chapter 3: Holly Sutton in High School and Lynn Joyner in Middle School

Lynn Joyner looked into his eyes and reiterated seriously, "I said, I have no money."

After she said this, she continued to focus on her homework without caring about Holly Sutton’s reaction.

Holly Sutton: "..." He suddenly didn’t know what to say. He had imagined various scenarios, like her unwillingness to pay or this middle schooler wanting to stand up to those people bravely, ready for a fight, and so on... 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The only thing he hadn’t considered was her not having money.

After all, her attitude just now seemed so cocky, even her words felt like she was provoking others—who would have thought she actually had no money.

Holly Sutton suddenly didn’t know what to say.

As he ate his food, he occasionally raised his head to glance at the person across who was doing their homework. However, he realized that in the approximately fifteen minutes he occasionally glanced up, the young girl hadn’t even completed a single multiple-choice question.

Her lips were pressed tight, likely unhappy at being unable to solve the problem, even appearing somewhat annoyed.

Holly Sutton tapped the table, and when Lynn Joyner looked up, he pointed to her workbook: "Do you want me to help you?"

Lynn Joyner hesitated for a long time before finally compromising because she really wanted to solve that problem, and she handed her workbook over to Holly Sutton.

Holly Sutton smiled inwardly while looking at Lynn Joyner, who appeared a bit awkward. Middle school kids really can’t hide their thoughts; everything they think is written on their faces.

Holly Sutton took her workbook and began working on it. The first-year material was as easy as drinking water for Holly Sutton, and he quickly finished.

Then he handed the workbook back, "Here, take a look."

Just as Lynn Joyner took it to look, Holly Sutton sighed, took the pen back: "Forget it, I’ll explain it to you."

Though the problem wasn’t difficult for him, it was still challenging for a middle school student.

Lynn Joyner bowed her head and glanced at the solution process next to the workbook, paused for two seconds, and agreed.

Holly Sutton then started explaining the problem to her. Holly Sutton’s grades were quite good, and he explained the problem clearly, with his reasoning transparent.

"That’s it, finished explaining, did you understand?"

Lynn Joyner nodded, "Got it." Then she took her homework and completed it herself.

Seeing her start working on her own, Holly Sutton returned to eating his food, and after a while, Holly Sutton felt like he heard something, somewhat surprised, he raised his eyes to look toward the other side.

But the person across sat upright, focused on her homework; it hardly seemed like her stomach was making rumbling sounds a moment ago, considering her deceptive demeanor.

Lynn Joyner had already gotten used to it; immersed in the world of problems, she completely ignored external distractions, writing away until she found an extra portion of food in front of her.

Surprised, she looked up at Holly Sutton, who blinked appropriately: "It’s for you."

Lynn Joyner pursed her lips, "I’m not hungry." No sooner had she spoken, her stomach growled again.

Lynn Joyner: "..."

Holly Sutton: "..." looking at her with a slight smirk.

"It’s okay, have some. Maybe next time you can treat me, how about that?"

Eventually, after a while, Lynn Joyner accepted because she was truly hungry, and the aroma of the food tempted her taste buds.

Later on, every time Holly Sutton came to the shop, he habitually sat across from Lynn Joyner, occasionally explaining a problem, eventually even joking around.

Such times lasted a year until Holly Sutton started as a senior and returned to that shop, never again seeing the quiet middle school girl doing homework diligently.
