Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 125: She Almost Thought Mr. Xi Could Really Cook
The brief discussion from the evening quickly disappeared because there wasn’t much to dig into.
The person who leaked the info was probably just too excited and blurted it out. After all, knowing the truth while everyone else is wildly guessing feels so satisfying.
Mia Sutton was completely unaware of this online incident as she sat comfortably on her couch at home.
She glanced around the house and then set her eyes on the man next to her.
Jensen Sterling was holding a phone, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, in a call. Mia watched his back for a while before looking away.
Maybe she was uncomfortable, so she changed positions.
Honestly, this seemed like the first time they’d been in the same house together.
Oh, the first time she was brought back doesn’t count because Jensen didn’t stay long before leaving.
Feeling a bit bored, Mia entertained herself by scrolling through Weibo on her phone. She hadn’t logged into her alternative account for a while, so she decided to check it out since she had nothing else to do.
As soon as she logged in, her phone lagged for a moment due to the overwhelming number of messages.
Mia opened her homepage and discovered that her Aquawind Weibo account had unexpectedly gained hundreds of thousands of followers.
And there were loads of private messages, all asking where she had been, if she had disappeared, urging her to come back and update, or if she’s still taking commissions, and so on.
Mia was stunned for a second. What happened? How did she suddenly get so many followers?
After looking through carefully, she realized it was because of the fanart she had made during that time.
Her fingertips paused on that picture for a couple of seconds, and she couldn’t help but blush slightly.
Just as she was about to log out, a gentle voice came from behind: "What are you looking at?"
Mia was startled and nearly jumped off the couch. Her fingers fumbled as she pressed multiple times, failing to log out, so she scrambled and pressed the side button, turning off the phone screen instantly.
Her heart was still racing as she tried to act calm, tilted her head slightly, her gaze a bit evasive, and said, "Oh, just browsing randomly."
Even though her phone was turned off, Mia still felt as if it was on, her palms a little hot.
Jensen glanced at her confusedly, not quite understanding what was wrong with the little girl.
After his call, he saw the little girl sitting cross-legged on the couch like a boneless cat, lazily leaning against the sofa, holding her phone, lost in whatever she was viewing.
So he casually asked, not expecting her reaction to be so intense.
Thinking back to the fleeting image, it seemed to be... a drawing.
It flashed by too quickly for him to see clearly, but there seemed to be a man and a woman.
Jensen assumed Mia was looking at some comic or something with... suggestive scenes.
He figured she was embarrassed, so he naturally shifted the topic to avoid awkwardness, then asked, "I’m cooking, anything you’d like to eat?"
Mia quickly shook her head, "I’m not picky."
"Then how about noodles?" Jensen asked.
Mia nodded, sure, anything is fine!
Only after Jensen left did that breath Mia had been holding finally release with a whoosh.
This was a real heart-pounding test, so intense!
If it had been exposed... Mia imagined that scene.
She shivered violently, shook her head quickly, no way, absolutely cannot be discovered, if it blows up, she could die on the spot!
Then she quickly logged out of that account on her phone.
——
Mia sat quietly on the couch for a long time, only remembering Jensen was cooking when she heard sounds coming from the kitchen.
He can cook? Mia was a little curious and got off the sofa, sliding her feet into slippers, and headed to the kitchen.
A loud sound came from the kitchen, like a knife chopping on a cutting board, but... chopping vegetables could make such noise?
Standing at the kitchen door, Mia looked at the scene inside, momentarily speechless.
Jensen was holding a tomato, waving it around, seeming to study how to begin.
His expression was solemn and serious, as if undertaking something very important.
Then, like he finally figured it out, he cut down with the knife in his hand!
On the cutting board... it was empty!
Apart from the knife, there was nothing, and the tomato had rolled to the ground and landed at Mia’s feet.
Mia looked down at the tomato lying proudly on the ground, blinked: "..."
Is this the cooking Jensen spoke of?
Jensen also saw Mia and after a moment said, "I originally wanted to learn, thought it wouldn’t be difficult.
"Now it looks like it didn’t go so well."
Mia: "...!!"
Not going so well?! That’s more like completely clueless!
Sorry, she underestimated Jensen. He asked so naturally as if he were someone skilled in cooking.
Mia squatted down to pick up the tomato, then went over and saw a phone beside him, paused on a recipe page.
Mia: "..."
Okay, he really was studying seriously, just with... questionable results.
"Let me handle it, Jensen." Mia offered.
She then rummaged through a cabinet, pulled out an apron, and started prepping the ingredients.
The stubborn ingredients in Jensen’s hands suddenly behaved well in Mia’s, quickly prepped and sorted.
Standing aside, Jensen, seeing nothing he could assist with, for the first time felt a bit defeated.
Mia soon had the noodles boiling. As she did, she wondered if Jensen had tried, would the result be not a pot of noodles, but a pot of disaster.
In no time, Mia finished cooking, preparing a few dishes. The unhelpful Jensen promptly took the dishes to the table.
Mia removed her apron, washed her hands, sat at the table, took the chopsticks Jensen handed over, and with a sweet smile said thank you.
Then added, "Jensen, try it and see if it tastes good."
Jensen looked up at her, the girl’s eyes sparkling as she watched him.
A hot meal sat on the table, made by the person beside him.
This feeling... was quite special. To his memory, this was the first time with such a scene, warm, genuinely giving a sense of home, making him briefly lost.
Then he lowered his gaze, picked up a dish, tasted it, and the aroma spread through his mouth.
Mia heard him say, "It’s really good."
Mia beamed brightly, took a bite herself, and said, "I think so too, even Lynn Joyner praised my cooking."
Jensen paused with his chopsticks in hand: "..."
