Chapter 867: Chapter 866: If You Hurt Yourself (6)

As soon as Ling Chuxia’s words came to his ears, Shi Che’s movements stopped. In fact, he never completely let go of his grip. Although he wasn’t afraid of dying, he didn’t want to die because he still had to take care of Ling Chuxia and couldn’t possibly die before her.

The woman behind him clung to him again, embracing him with what seemed to be all her strength. Her hands were trembling violently, making Shi Che’s heart soften instantly.

However, since the act had reached this point, he had to see it through to the end; he couldn’t just give up halfway.

Shi Che didn’t look back at her, his voice unusually calm, "Chuxia, are you sure you won’t harm yourself anymore?"

Tears were streaming down Ling Chuxia’s face. Her throat was choked up, and she couldn’t speak, so she nodded forcefully.

Shi Che continued speaking calmly, "Then, do you want our child?"

The five words "our child," his voice was still very calm, but his tone had a slight emphasis.

Ling Chuxia’s biggest psychological barrier was thinking that this child wouldn’t be theirs, so he could only keep instilling in her that this was their child.

Only when Ling Chuxia accepted this idea could she truly let go.

With this question from Shi Che, Ling Chuxia instinctively hesitated somewhat and couldn’t nod her head right away. However, she only hesitated for a few seconds before Shi Che’s hand lifted slightly, as if to pry her hands away and jump down as he did earlier.

Ling Chuxia dared not hesitate any longer and quickly nodded vigorously, "I want, I want the child!"

Shi Che’s lips curved unconsciously, but he still corrected seriously, "It’s our child."

"Hmm, our child." Even though Ling Chuxia’s voice still had a hint of resistance, she managed to say that sentence. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Shi Che’s expression relaxed slightly, and he slowly turned his face to look at her. Her eyes were swollen, her small face covered in tear streaks, and her lips had turned pale—she seemed truly frightened.

Pain flashed in Shi Che’s eyes. He spoke softly, "Chuxia, don’t cry. I won’t jump. As long as you don’t harm yourself, I won’t harm myself either."

He gently urged Ling Chuxia to step back a little, then moved his feet back. Once both feet were firmly on solid ground, Ling Chuxia, with teary eyes, stared at him for a few seconds before suddenly clenching her fists and hitting Shi Che hard.

"Shi Che, you bastard, you scared me to death!"

She cried, shouted, and hit him as if releasing all the tension she’d been holding in just moments ago.

Shi Che wasn’t afraid of her crying; what he feared was if she didn’t cry. So he stood there, letting her vent, knowing that just letting out the fear and unease in her heart would naturally clear away her psychological barriers.

Ling Chuxia cried and hit him for a long time, but Shi Che remained unmoving, his dark eyes softly watching her. Eventually, when she had exhausted all her energy, she leaned limply into Shi Che’s arms.

Shi Che gently exerted some strength in his arms, lifting her horizontally and walking back to the bedroom, where he softly placed her on the soft bedding.

She had cried so fiercely earlier that her face was wet. Shi Che rose, walked into the bathroom, and returned with a warm towel. Ling Chuxia had already curled up under the covers and fallen asleep.

His footsteps instinctively lightened as he approached the bedside, sat down gently, and wiped away the tear marks from her face with the towel. Only after that did he lean down, kiss her lips gently, and lowly whisper goodnight.
