Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 782 - 405: Extra: Swearing to Find You 2
In his mind, he vaguely remembered something like this, but the figure in his mind was not that of Jennifer Douglas.
"Oh."
"Why just an indifferent ’oh’? I came here, and you don’t seem surprised at all?" Jennifer Douglas complained.
Skyler Jones placed his hand on Jennifer Douglas’s slender waist, "How would you like me to show my happiness?"
"Does that mean you’re glad I came?" Jennifer Douglas snuggled closely into Skyler Jones’s arms, holding him tight.
Skyler Jones gently removed Jennifer Douglas’s hands from around his waist and said blandly, "This is the office."
Jennifer Douglas showed no sign of concern, instead hugging Skyler Jones even tighter, "I know, but your company people have already left."
Skyler Jones still pulled away from Jennifer Douglas, "My daughter is waiting for me to have dinner at home. I need to go back now."
Jennifer Douglas blinked her bright eyes at Skyler Jones, "Then I’ll go with you!"
Skyler Jones’s expression instantly dropped, "No way!"
Seeing Skyler Jones’s face turn from dark to black, Jennifer Douglas chuckled, "Oh, I’m just kidding. I wouldn’t dare move into your house; I’m afraid your daughter might give me attitude... Look, I’ve already taken my luggage to the hotel in advance."
"Hmm." Only then did Skyler Jones’s expression soften somewhat.
"Go home and have dinner with your daughter; I’ll settle my meal at the hotel... But, you have to come to the hotel to be with me tonight."
"I have a dinner appointment tonight."
"I came here, can’t you cancel the appointment?"
"It’s a business banquet."
"I don’t care, even if it’s a business banquet, you must come to the hotel tonight to be with me." Jennifer Douglas looked at Skyler Jones, feeling wronged.
After a long while, Skyler Jones nodded slightly. "Okay."
The next second, Jennifer Douglas happily wrapped her arm around Skyler Jones’s elbow, leaned her head against his shoulder, and left with satisfaction.
The villa.
"Mr. Jones."
"Where’s Marie?"
Handing over his briefcase and blazer to the servant, Skyler Jones asked.
The servant replied respectfully, "Missy is in the dining room. I suggested she start eating, but she insisted on waiting for you to return."
Skyler Jones nodded lightly, then headed towards the dining room.
In the spacious dining room, Marie was sitting alone at the dining table, resting her chin in her hands.
"I’m sorry, Daddy’s late." Skyler Jones apologized.
Upon hearing her father’s voice, Marie turned her head and stared intently at him.
Sitting down at the table, Skyler Jones looked at his daughter’s pensive face and asked with concern, "What’s wrong, dear daughter?"
Marie bit her lip but said nothing.
"Are you upset because Daddy came home late?"
Marie shook her head but still didn’t speak.
Skyler Jones couldn’t help but frown, still unable to guess his daughter’s thoughts.
Finally, Marie lowered her head and slowly said, "Daddy, I miss Mommy."
Skyler Jones sighed lightly, "If you miss her, just give her a call!"
"But Mommy’s phone won’t connect."
"Can’t connect?" This situation indeed surprised Skyler Jones. "You mean your Mommy’s phone isn’t connecting?"
"Yes, I’ve called Mommy five or six times today, but none went through."
That damned woman has been gone just a day and doesn’t even pick up her phone!
Skyler Jones’s face instantly became quite ugly.
"Daddy, why won’t Mommy’s phone connect?"
Despite his anger, Skyler Jones had to patiently explain to his daughter, "Maybe the phone ran out of battery or some other reason; it won’t stay disconnected."
"Then I’ll try calling her later tonight."
"Mm."
"I’m so hungry. Daddy, let’s eat."
"Okay."
After dinner, Marie obediently went back to her room to do homework, while Skyler Jones paced irritably in his own room.
With his hands on his hips, his mind was filled with Marie mentioning that her calls weren’t going through to her mother.
That woman was simply outrageous, not even picking up her daughter’s calls. He shouldn’t have been so accommodating and let her leave!
Taking out his phone, he finally had a reason to dial her number.
As Marie said, her phone indeed alerted that it couldn’t be connected.
Just as he was sinking into extreme frustration, his phone suddenly started vibrating.
At first, he thought it was from her, but upon checking the number, he realized it was Becca.
He forced himself to calm down, pressed the answer button, "Hello."
"Brother-in-law."
He seemed to have gotten used to Rebecca Quentin’s way of addressing him.
"I tried calling my sister today, but it wouldn’t connect. I heard you returned home; did you see her today?"
