Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 272: Mr. Huxley’s Car Accident, Feigned Sympathy
"It’s not as hard as you think," Justin Huxley casually flipped through the documents in his hand. "The reason these people collaborate with the Sinclair Group is entirely because of Maxim Sinclair’s abilities. Now that I’ve defeated him, it’s like indirectly proving to the outside world that I’m better than him."
Cameron Young’s eyes flickered, not daring to oppose.
Currently, Justin Huxley has only taken away some business; in the eyes of outsiders, strictly speaking, he hasn’t defeated Maxim Sinclair yet.
"True, it’s too early to say I’ve defeated him," Justin Huxley voiced what Cameron Young had in mind, "The gift I asked you to prepare, is it ready?"
Cameron Young nodded, "Everything’s ready. Based on our previous investigations, these gifts will definitely suit the tastes of the target clients."
"I haven’t met Old Master Sinclair yet," Justin Huxley stroked his chin, "I’m not familiar with him, so it’s a bit inappropriate for me to visit him. Besides, he may not be willing to deal with me. What do you think, would the old man be willing to run this errand for me?"
"If today’s business deal goes through, the chairman should be willing to help you," Cameron Young carefully watched Justin Huxley’s expression as he spoke, "After all, the chairman currently believes your success in getting the business is due to luck. You need to accomplish something that proves your capability."
"That might take too long. I need to take advantage of this opportunity to suppress Maxim Sinclair, at least make sure he’s severely wounded; otherwise, if he recovers, I truly won’t be able to handle him." Justin Huxley impatiently shook his head, "Is the arrangement with number four in place? When exactly will he take action?"
Cameron Young took out his phone, glanced at it, and lowered his voice, "Tonight. Number four said everything is set up, and by early dawn, we’ll receive the good news."
Justin Huxley suppressed the excitement in his voice, "He better not disappoint me."
"He won’t, rest assured," Cameron Young nodded solemnly, "The ones handling this are seasoned pros. The delay is to eliminate all traces so the police won’t suspect you. Otherwise, the good news would’ve come two days ago."
"Taking action today is just right," Justin Huxley looked out the window, "If we acted two days ago, the police would easily suspect me. After all, if something happens to Uncle, I’m the biggest beneficiary."
"Indeed."
Night fell.
Unable to sleep, Tina Huxley had just opened a bottle of wine, not even poured, when someone started banging on her door.
Already irritated from insomnia, Tina’s anger soared at the loud knocking.
"Who is it, in the middle of the night? Are you crazy!" Tina impatiently opened the door, and there was Mrs. Huxley, rushing toward her. "Tina, Driver Dalton called me, saying your dad’s car lost brakes on the mountain road, the ground was slippery, and the car rolled into a ditch!"
Tina’s mind went blank as if hit by a heavy blow. She stood stunned for a while before regaining her senses.
She supported the nearly collapsing Mrs. Huxley, trying to stay calm, "Mom, don’t panic. Give me the address Dalton mentioned. I’ll go check the scene. It will be alright. Since Driver Dalton called, it means it will be alright."
In an apartment seven or eight kilometers away in the city center, Cameron Young found Justin Huxley on the balcony and nodded slowly, "Number four succeeded."
"What’s the situation at the scene now?" Justin Huxley picked up the glass of wine on the table, which was already poured, toasted the bright moon above, and drank it all in one go. "Cameron, this wine isn’t bad. Come and have a drink with me."
"Tina Huxley and her brother rushed to the scene. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Number four asked me to inform you that the cause is the driver’s negligence in taking the wrong car and road construction on the mountain." Not daring to refuse his goodwill, Cameron Young took the glass, clinked it with his, and sipped it.
"Something this big happened, I must go see for myself." Justin Huxley poured himself another glass of wine and drank it swiftly, "It’s also a proper explanation when I report back to the old man."
"Perhaps you shouldn’t go? Tina is almost at the scene. If you show up at the same time, and if she goes crazy and accuses you, it might attract police attention and bring unnecessary trouble." Cameron Young patiently advised, having witnessed Tina’s stubbornness before; she could be very difficult when hysterical.
"I can’t avoid her forever," Justin Huxley stood, admiring his attire in the nearby floor-to-ceiling window, tidying his disheveled hair. "It’s time for Tina to face some setbacks. If it weren’t for Uncle, her life wouldn’t have been so comfortable these years."
Outside the hospital operating room.
Tina was squatting in front of Mrs. Huxley, patiently comforting, "Mom, it will be fine. See, Driver Dalton is fine."
Mrs. Huxley shook her head, sobbing, speechless, suddenly fixing her gaze on the distance.
Tina instinctively followed her gaze.
It was Justin Huxley.
Justin Huxley arrived with a large group in tow, in grand fashion.
Filled with rage, Tina stood up, her face contorted as she glared at Justin Huxley, "What are you doing here?"
"Checking on Uncle," Justin Huxley passed her, greeting Mrs. Huxley with his usual demeanor, "Auntie, why didn’t you call me after such a big incident? I could’ve helped you!"
Mrs. Huxley held back the infuriated Tina from stomping her feet, cleared her throat, and coldly looked at Justin, "It’s a small matter, no need for you to come."
Justin Huxley glanced at the closed operating room door, "How is Uncle? What did the doctor say?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Stop pretending. You don’t even know yet what you’ve done," blurted Tina, realizing her statement might be somewhat apt after saying it.
She glared at Justin Huxley with gritted teeth, "You better have nothing to do with tonight’s events. Otherwise, you’re finished with me. I’ll report you to Grandpa!"
Mrs. Huxley panicked, pulling Tina to a seat beside her, whispering sternly, "Quiet down! If you keep causing a scene, the nurse will reprimand you!"
Ignoring Tina’s accusations, Justin maintained his humble and respectful demeanor, as he often did in front of Mrs. and Mr. Huxley: "Auntie, if there’s anything you need, just let me know. I understand Tina is anxious, and I won’t hold it against her."
With her heart bleeding, even a small smile couldn’t surface on Mrs. Huxley’s face: "No worries, I can handle things here. It’s almost dawn; you better head back. If everything gets delayed, you won’t be able to explain it to the old man."
Justin wasn’t genuinely intending to stay longer, so after Mrs. Huxley spoke, he went with the flow and took his leave.
