Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 250: Maxim Sinclair Finds Out Summer Lowell Is Secretly Taking Medicine
Late at night, Summer Lowell draped her robe and got out of bed, seeing Maxim Sinclair deeply asleep on the bed. Barefooted, she carried a glass of water and walked into the closet.
She took out the bag she carried during the day and retrieved a bottle of medication that she specifically asked Vivian Sullivan for, then swallowed two pills with the water.
After taking them, Summer carefully hid the bottle again.
"What are you doing?"
Maxim Sinclair suddenly appeared at the door, startling Summer: "Why did you come here?"
"I opened my eyes and couldn’t find you, thought you’d run off again, scared me to death."
Maxim’s tone was filled with teasing, without any hint of being frightened.
Summer gave him an exaggerated eye roll: "You’re surrounded by your people inside and out, even if I had wings, I couldn’t escape."
"That’s hard to say. After all, now you have the chance to cooperate with Justin Huxley. He’s a person who’s both cunning and sly, you have to be wary."
As he spoke, Maxim moved closer, noticing the half-empty glass of clear water near Summer’s hand: "What did you take?"
"You and Justin Huxley are equally treacherous. Neither of you should call the other sly. In my opinion, both of you are cut from the same cloth," Summer feared he’d continue questioning, so she casually changed the subject.
"Let’s not discuss this issue for now," Maxim reached out and took the glass of clear water, "Let’s talk about why you ran to the closet in the middle of the night. Planning to sneak some food?"
"I’m not sneaking anything. This water was left here from earlier," Summer said calmly, making up an excuse. "Why are you so suspicious?"
"I admit my talent for lying isn’t as good as yours," Maxim, unable to get any information, casually put the glass aside, "You better not eat anything rashly. If I find out, you know the consequences."
"What consequences? Tell me about it," Summer seemed genuinely curious, "Justin Huxley told me your tricks for dealing with people are endless, making many too scared to provoke you. Are you planning to use your methods against me?"
"Do you want to experience it?" Maxim looked at Summer, extending his right hand to touch her silk robe, "This robe has a nice pattern, bringing out the charm in your eyes and filling the air with spring."
Alarm bells rang in Summer’s head as she tightened her robe and backed away: "You promised to let me go after midnight."
"I’ve told you countless times, promises made in bed never count."
Maxim let out a low chuckle, wrapping his arms around Summer and lifting her up...
...(Feel free to imagine)
Maxim Sinclair stood by the window, watching Summer playing ball with the maids in the garden downstairs, then quickly entered the closet and found the bottle of medication Summer had hidden in the corner.
The round white bottle had intricate designs painted on it, with bold lettering across the surface.
"Multivitamin," Maxim lightly touched the bottle with his fingers, his eyes dark and unclear, "If it’s really just vitamins, why all the secrecy?"
Mercy Hospital.
Assistant Collins opened the door to Dr. Adler’s office, where Dr. Adler was focused on typing away at the computer.
"Dr. Adler, I have a favor to ask."
Seeing him come in, Dr. Adler was quite surprised: "Assistant Collins, why are you here? If you have a matter, you could have called me to come over!"
"It’s somewhat inconvenient to call you over," Assistant Collins said while placing a small, neatly wrapped tablet on the table. "President Sinclair asked me to bring this to you."
Dr. Adler picked up the tablet from the table, his expression unsure as he looked at Assistant Collins: "What’s this supposed to mean?"
"Our President Sinclair wants you to look at this medication to determine what it treats."
"Analyzing the medication’s components? That’s quite simple," Dr. Adler said as he called his assistant, "Take this for testing and determine what medication this is. Do it now, as quickly as possible."
Assistant Collins watched the assistant leave, then asked Dr. Adler: "How long before the results can be given to me?"
"That’s uncertain," Dr. Adler shook his head, "Barring any surprises, I should be able to send you the report within 24 hours. Are you waiting here, or should I send it to you once it’s done?"
"Send it to me immediately when the results are out. I don’t have time to wait here; there’s a heap of things at the company needing my attention." Assistant Collins exchanged some courteous words with him and emphasized the importance of this medication’s analysis report before leaving.
Despite Dr. Adler mentioning the slow results, it took only a short hour for the medical analysis report to arrive in Assistant Collins’ inbox.
With a quick scan of the report’s general content in the email, Assistant Collins felt a jolt of tension. He printed the report and knocked on Maxim Sinclair’s office door.
"What’s the matter?"
"President Sinclair, Dr. Adler sent over the results of the medication analysis." Assistant Collins cautiously said.
"Hand it over." Maxim reached out, taking the report from Assistant Collins.
Assistant Collins, on edge, handed over the paper, holding his breath and waiting for Maxim’s reaction.
"Ha, just as I guessed!" Maxim’s face showed little surprise, and at first glance, it was hard to tell if he was angry.
Assistant Collins could tell he was angry only based on years of experience, sensing it from the aura surrounding Maxim at that moment.
"Recall the appearance of the pill I gave you?" Maxim set down the paper and looked up to ask Assistant Collins.
"I remember very clearly."
"Go out and find a medicine that looks exactly like this pill but serves a different purpose."
Assistant Collins nodded in agreement, then asked: "Do you have any requirements for the medication’s effects?"
"As long as it doesn’t harm the body when taken, preferably it’s a water-soluble vitamin. If it’s hard to find, consider harmless supplements. It doesn’t have to be identical, just similar in appearance. The key thing is it must be harmless to the body."
Assistant Collins took on the task, searching pharmacies and silently griping about how challenging his boss’s romance was.
Meanwhile, at a club.
Justin Huxley was listening to music and brewing tea when suddenly a professionally dressed woman walked in and placed a document beside him.
Completely focused on brewing tea, Justin didn’t even lift his eyelid: "Get to the point."
"The Sinclair Group stole one of our deals; Maxim Sinclair personally handled it, offering conditions that were too favorable."
"Can’t the Huxley Family offer similar conditions?" Justin handed her a cup of brewed tea. "You’ve worked in the Huxley Family for so many years. If you tear things off to fight for it, what’s the chance of winning?"
"Winning is certain, but there’s no necessity, it’s beyond expectations."
"But just letting it be taken like this," Justin shook his head with a sigh, "makes me very uncomfortable. The worst part is knowing it was possible, but Maxim Sinclair is really infuriating!"
