Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Summer Lowell’s Memory in Chaos, Justin Huxley Takes Advantage

"Sister-in-law seems very kind, not like someone who would offend others. I feel... maybe it was an accident due to strong winds at sea, or... I heard there might be some misunderstandings between sister-in-law and older brother?"

Melanie Sinclair appeared quite concerned, and Assistant Collins even wondered if Maxim Sinclair was overthinking.

Suppressing his doubts, Assistant Collins followed the plan before coming and negotiated with Melanie Sinclair: "I’m not sure about this. The rescue personnel are still searching. I came here to convey President Sinclair’s wishes—please be cautious with your words when you receive a call from the old gentleman, and make sure not to worry him."

"Don’t worry, I will be careful and won’t say too much," Melanie Sinclair nodded and agreed readily. After Assistant Collins left, she closed the door and suddenly changed her expression, "Hmph, even if you stay here for a year, you won’t find her. Your Mrs. Sinclair will never come back."

...

In the privacy of a quiet private hospital in Kaelberg, Greston, a young nurse with a pen stood at the bedside, recording the patient’s data.

While writing, she lowered her head and realized that the patient lying on the bed had awakened at some point.

Noticing this, the nurse hurriedly went to call the doctor.

The doctor rushed over with an assistant and, after a thorough examination of Summer Lowell, began to converse with her: "How do you feel now? Your head suffered a severe impact, and you’ve been in a daze these past two days. But fortunately, you’ve finally woken up. Your lover is very worried about you."

A pale-faced Summer Lowell raised her hand to rub her head, her eyes bewildered and helpless: "Where is this place? I seem to not remember quite well..."

Although her brain told her this was a hospital and the person in the white coat in front of her was a doctor.

But why was she here?

Why was her mind blank, unable to remember anything?

Seeing this, the young nurse handed the examination sheet to the doctor. After flipping through two pages, the doctor instructed the nurse to contact the family members.

Summer Lowell lay in bed, quietly watching the two communicating, and finally asked, "Whom did you say you would inform about my condition?"

The doctor saw her looking a little tense, smiled to comfort her and said, "You were brought to this hospital by your lover. I heard you were hit by a storm while traveling at sea, and you fell into the sea, suffering head injuries. Fortunately, another cruise ship passed by and rescued you."

Summer’s head felt dizzy, and the back of her head indeed throbbed painfully.

She held her aching head in distress, and the young nurse gently comforted her not to worry.

After the doctor and nurse left, the confused Summer could only quietly lie on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling above, trying to recall some lost memories.

But the memories were chaotic, and all the people and events became blurry.

In the corridor outside the ward, the doctor pulled the young nurse aside, quietly instructing her in a low voice. He didn’t forget to warn her at the end, "Don’t say things that shouldn’t be said, or you will be in trouble."

That day, Summer alternated between sleeping and waking up, until the evening sunlight streamed into the ward, waking her once more.

At that moment, Justin Huxley pushed the door open and entered.

Summer looked up at the young man, clearly having rushed all the way there, his hair messy and breathing unsteady, feeling somewhat conflicted.

Most importantly, there was an inexplicable sense of familiarity about him. She hesitated a moment, tentatively asking, "Are you someone I know?"

Justin Huxley’s face showed a hint of surprise, but then he cunningly feigned a hurtful emotion.

He slowly walked to the bedside, looked at the bewildered Summer: "Summer, do you not remember me? I am the person you love most, Justin Huxley!"

"The person I love?"

Justin Huxley’s expression and tone were full of worry and unease.

Watching and listening, Summer felt inexplicably guilty, supporting her dizzy head and slowly sitting up, her eyes looking remorsefully at Justin Huxley: "Are you the one the doctor mentioned..."

"What did the doctor say?"

Facing Justin’s expectant gaze, Summer hesitated a moment before replying, "He said you’re my lover and that you brought me to the hospital. The doctor was here earlier, and he said he would inform you about my condition. Didn’t you meet the doctor?"

Justin raised the cellphone in his other hand, awkwardly scratching his forehead: "The doctor called me saying you woke up. After hearing about it, I got too excited. I didn’t pay attention to what he said afterward, just rushed here. It’s okay; you rest for a bit, and I’ll go find the doctor to ask about the situation."

After saying this, Justin left the ward, and about twenty minutes later, he finally returned.

Summer awkwardly held her blanket, feeling discomfort at Justin’s intense gaze.

Justin approached the bedside, touched her pillow: "Is your head still hurting? This pillow feels a bit hard to me. Do you want me to offer you a softer one? It might be more comfortable."

Summer shook her head, instinctively wanting to avoid Justin’s touch.

Remembering the hurt tone and expression he had earlier, she restrained the urge to pull away and controlled herself to avoid hurting his feelings.

"I feel okay, what did the doctor say?"

When the doctor was present earlier, Summer had also been questioning about her condition.

But for some reason, the doctor had been evasive and vague, refusing to answer directly, insisting he would inform her lover.

"Is it serious? The doctor didn’t want to tell me anything."

Summer suppressed her anxiety, staring intently at Justin, fearing he would lie.

Justin smiled at her: "Not serious, just temporary amnesia. You’ve actually been lucky. This hospital is part of a group that has a pharmaceutical center under it, and that center recently developed a medication specifically for treating your condition. It just hit the market, has no side effects, and with its help, you should regain your memory quickly."

Hearing this, Summer’s worry eased a little: "That’s good. The doctor’s expression just now scared me into thinking I’d never remember anything again."

"You won’t," Justin said, taking off his jacket, rolling up his sleeves, and heading to the adjacent washroom. After fiddling around a bit, he came out with a warm towel.

He came over, rolled up Summer’s sleeve, and gently wiped her arm and palm.

Summer quietly watched, looking down.

He seemed to be a very thoughtful lover.

Then why earlier, had there been a subtle feeling of rejection inside?

Was there something unpleasant between them?

"What’s wrong, what are you thinking about? I was talking to you, why didn’t you respond?" Justin Huxley asked, tapping her nose playfully, "You always do this; when I’m seriously talking to you, you’re always lost in thought, thinking about something else."
