Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 158: Beginning to Use Vivian Sullivan
Seeing that Maxim Sinclair was truly furious, Assistant Collins didn’t dare to say much to console him and quickly went out to reorganize some documents and evidence, putting them back in the file cabinet.
Although Summer Lowell shredded the document from earlier, fortunately, Assistant Collins was well-prepared. The original evidence he collected beforehand was still intact; Summer only destroyed a backup, which didn’t affect anything.
After Assistant Collins placed the newly backed-up documents into the cabinet, Maxim Sinclair got up and walked to the fish tank nearby. He took some fish food from the desk and sprinkled it inside, then called out to Assistant Collins, who was about to leave, and asked, "What’s Justin Huxley been up to lately?"
"Matthew said they’ll compile a report tonight on Justin Huxley’s recent activities and send it over. If President Sinclair is eager to know, should I urge them to speed it up?"
"Go and urge them. I’m very interested in what he’s been busy with lately."
Assistant Collins returned and handed the tablet to Maxim Sinclair. Maxim took a wet wipe from beside him, cleaned the hand that got dirty while feeding the fish, and then picked up the tablet, gently flipping through the files and images on it.
After a moment, with surprise and a hint of sarcasm in his tone, he said, "Hasn’t Tina Huxley’s dad realized by now he’s inviting a wolf into his home?"
"From what I can see, it seems like the entire Huxley Family has not realized it yet."
"With that kind of mind, the Huxley Family really needs a change in leadership."
Assistant Collins smiled and said, "I think this is quite good. Let Justin Huxley and Tina Huxley’s families fight it out. When both sides are exhausted, Julian Huxley can step in and take over. Just not sure if Old Master Huxley can hold out till then."
Maxim Sinclair snorted coldly without commenting, and as he swiped, his hand paused on one of the photos. He gently tapped the screen with his finger: "When was this taken?"
Assistant Collins leaned in to look and pointed to the date on top: "Last Wednesday."
"Justin Huxley is even smarter than I thought," Maxim Sinclair remarked, staring at the photo on the tablet. He then looked up and instructed Assistant Collins, "Make arrangements to take over this project."
"Should we take it for ourselves, or hand it over to Julian Huxley? As I know, Julian Huxley seems interested in this project too."
Maxim Sinclair rubbed his fingers together and, after a brief silence, said, "Let’s take it for ourselves first. As for whether we keep it... observe Julian Huxley’s reaction. It wouldn’t be impossible to give it to him, but he’ll have to offer something substantial in exchange."
"Understood, I’ll take care of it right away."
...
At Alanis Studio, Justin Huxley hung up the phone, a stern expression on his face as he looked at his assistant who had just walked in: "What on earth is going on? How could the contract just fall through like that?"
The assistant shook his head, having made several calls just now: "I’ve already sent people to gather intel, but I don’t know what happened yet."
Frustrated, Justin Huxley yanked off his tie and moved to the side to pour himself a drink.
After a while, as something came to mind, he walked briskly to the desk, picked up his phone, and dialed a number.
The assistant watched his boss’s face darken like a thunderstorm. As he finished the call and the assistant cautiously prepared to speak,
he abruptly smashed the glass he was holding onto the floor, grinding his teeth as he stared out the window, "Maxim Sinclair, you’re everywhere!"
The assistant waited for him to vent before gathering tools to clean up the shattered glass, then poured a cup of hot coffee and handed it over, "President Huxley, what should we do now?"
"What else can we do? We’ll have to give up on that project. Maxim Sinclair has already snatched it. We don’t have the strength at the moment to compete with him, but I will remember this grudge and one day I’ll make him pay."
After a while, Justin Huxley instructed his assistant to cancel the upcoming meeting, grabbed his coat and car keys, and left the company.
He drove directly to Mercy Hospital.
Following the location agreed upon over the phone, he arrived at the little garden in front of the back mountain of Mercy Hospital, where a pavilion stood with Vivian Sullivan sitting inside, enjoying the breeze.
"Calling so suddenly, did it affect your work?" Justin Huxley approached with a smile, placing a box he brought with him in front of her, "Picked up a few boxes of snacks on the way. The dessert chef is the most famous in Stellarion. If I’m not mistaken, both you and Summer love these."
Vivian Sullivan received the dessert with a smile, putting it aside as she teased, "Thanks for the snacks, Senior Huxley. Today, I’m benefiting from Summer’s liking, but unfortunately, I can’t go out now. If I could, I would have helped you pass these on to her."
"I heard from Summer that you’re participating in some training activity and can’t leave the hospital for a month or two." Justin Huxley sat down on a bamboo chair nearby, took out a pack of cigarettes, and asked her lightly, "If I smoke here, it won’t bother you, right?"
"Go ahead, the wind is strong here. I won’t smell it," Vivian waved her hand, and only when Justin lit the cigarette, did she look at him thoughtfully, "Did something trouble you? Judging by your appearance, could it be something related to Summer?"
Justin smoked halfway before extinguishing the cigarette on the stone slab next to him and let out a deep breath, turning to look at Vivian Sullivan, "Have you been in touch with Summer recently?"
"Yes," Vivian nodded, "Although I can’t see her, we chat on the phone. Just yesterday, I was complaining to her about being so busy that I barely have time to sleep. Why do you ask?"
"Did Summer mention anything about her current situation to you?"
Vivian sensed something wrong immediately upon hearing this. She sat up straight, staring at Justin Huxley intently, "Summer has always shared the good news but not the bad with me. Did something happen on her end? When I talked to her yesterday, she said she’s not busy with anything else."
"So you really don’t know anything," Justin Huxley sighed helplessly, "Summer resigned. To be exact, something happened at her company, and the higher-ups all suspect she did it. Too proud to explain, she just packed up and left, and the company accommodations were also taken back."
"What? How could something like that happen?" Vivian’s brows knit tightly in concern as she urgently asked, "She did mention wanting to switch companies but didn’t say anything about being dismissed. Where is she now? How is she doing? Besides this, did anything else happen?"
"Maybe you should call her directly and ask. Do you have time now? Convenient to call?" Justin pointed to his phone, "Because I don’t know much either, and she hasn’t told me anything in detail, but I’m just too worried about her..."
