Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 119: Top-Tier Love Triangle Showdown
Tina Huxley, who was walking toward them, also didn’t want to run into Summer Lowell, but since they were all here, there was no other option.
Tina could only force a smile and greet Justin Huxley: "Brother, what a coincidence to see you here."
Justin, with a hint of surprise on his face, walked over: "Yeah, Maxim, you’re here too?"
Maxim Sinclair casually glanced at the obviously evasive Summer, smiling meaningfully: "Yes, what a coincidence indeed."
Summer, who wasn’t keen on such a coincidence, expertly put on the smile she used when socializing with Noah: "It really is a coincidence, President Sinclair, Miss Huxley."
Tina didn’t want Maxim and Summer to interact much, so after greeting, she hurried to leave: "We seem to be heading in opposite directions, so we won’t disturb you."
As she spoke, she instinctively hooked her hand around Maxim’s arm, wanting to pull him along.
For some reason, Summer’s gaze also uncontrollably fell between Tina’s hand and Maxim.
Maxim watched Summer’s expression without a hint of emotion, allowing Tina to hold his arm.
Seeing that he didn’t reject her touch, Tina’s eyes flashed with delight, and she couldn’t help but hold on tighter: "Maxim, let’s stick to the original plan? Let’s not disturb my brother and Miss Lowell."
At that moment, Summer inexplicably found the actions of the two a bit irritating, so she shifted her gaze to the side, then looked up at Justin: "Senior, let’s hurry over too. I noticed you didn’t eat much this morning; you must be starving."
"I’m fine," Justin reassured her with a smile, then turned his thoughts and said to Maxim with a cheerful suggestion, "Since we met by chance, why don’t we all have a meal together? You haven’t booked a private room yet, have you?"
Tina, who didn’t want to have a meal with Summer, was just about to refuse, but Maxim answered first: "Sure, my assistant did forget to book a place for us to eat; it’s lucky we ran into you."
After saying that, Maxim gave Summer a sly smile.
Summer felt a shiver from his smile, deliberately slowing her pace, and whispered to Justin: "Senior, I don’t want to have dinner with them."
Justin deliberately had Tina bring them over, actually wanting to see firsthand what’s going on between Summer and Maxim.
"What’s wrong?" Justin feigned confusion, "Don’t be so against him; he’s quite remarkable in the jewelry industry. You might work together in the future."
Summer certainly knew how accomplished Maxim was in jewelry design, but no matter how great he was, they wouldn’t become close partners.
Wanting to avoid trouble, Summer saw the two of them had already turned a corner, so she unconsciously tugged on Justin’s sleeve, her expression slightly pleading: "Senior, it’s rare for me to be out, and I don’t want to dine with competitors. If someone sees us, I can’t explain it to the higher-ups."
Considering that he was still pursuing her, refusing her request so unreasonably would easily make Summer doubt his sincerity in pursuing her.
But today’s opportunity was rare, and who knew when they would get these two together again.
Justin didn’t want to miss the chance to gauge how much Summer weighed in Maxim’s mind.
Just as he hesitated, the two who had turned the corner came back, Tina holding onto Maxim’s arm, teasing Summer and Justin: "Brother, Miss Lowell, you’re so slow, whispering secrets? You’re making us feel like the third wheel."
Tina spoke while giving Justin a look, hinting for him to quickly take Summer away.
She feared that if they lingered, something might go wrong with Maxim.
Teased, Summer simply gave up, awkwardly laughing twice: "I suddenly remembered I have something to do and might not be able to join you for dinner. You go ahead, I’ll come after I’m done."
"That won’t do," Justin turned to her, "Why suddenly busy? Going back to the office? If so, I’ll drive you."
"No, no, not going back to the office," Summer shook her head hastily, "My assistant messaged me about a document that needs my attention now. You go to the restaurant first, I’ll be quick."
Summer awkwardly smiled toward Maxim and Tina at the corner: "Don’t wait for me, enjoy your meal!"
Justin wouldn’t let her return alone, so he quickly caught up: "Being alone would be boring, should I keep you company?"
Summer didn’t dare let him into her room to accompany her.
She stopped and looked at the eager Justin, helplessly smiling: "Really no need, Senior. I like a quiet atmosphere when working, and I’m fine alone. You go and keep President Sinclair and Miss Huxley company."
Seeing her insistence, Justin felt awkward forcing her and gently patted her shoulder, speaking softly: "I’ll order your favorite dishes first, come back quickly once you’re done."
Summer smiled awkwardly, feeling Maxim’s gaze sticking to her back like glue.
She took an unnoticed step back, avoiding any more intimate gestures from Justin, and said casually: "I’ll head back to my room first. You go quickly so President Sinclair and Miss Huxley aren’t kept waiting."
Then she turned and swiftly fled the scene.
Justin watched her back with a deep gaze, and when he turned around, his complex expression changed.
He smiled as he walked to Maxim and Tina, shaking his head helplessly, apologizing affectionately: "Sorry, Summer suddenly has some work to handle. I’ll go with you first, she’ll join us after she’s finished."
Maxim didn’t speak, giving Justin a deep look before turning towards the restaurant.
Tina, fearing an awkward atmosphere, cheerfully chimed in: "Miss Lowell is really busy, even when out she can’t relax and has to attend to work."
"Summer has always been like that," Justin’s tone full of understanding of Summer, "even back in school, she was so hardworking. She’s never changed; at times, it makes one feel sorry for her."
As Justin spoke, he intentionally addressed Maxim: "Maxim, you should know, Summer worked at your company before, you must be aware of how hardworking she is."
