Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 464: Xiao Yi vs The ’Ghost’
The scenery had changed.
After crossing the previous stretch of land, they had entered a completely different area; it was sand, endless sand stretching as far as the eye could see.
The ground beneath their feet was dry and loose, shifting slightly with every step, while the air felt hotter and heavier, the wind carrying fine grains that brushed against their skin.
There was barely any vegetation in sight, making the entire place look like a vast, desolate desert.
Su Qinglan narrowed her eyes slightly as she observed her surroundings; she had heard about this place before...a land where exiled beastmen and criminals wander, who are dangerous and unpredictable beings who survive by any means necessary.
Because of that, everyone remained alert, their senses sharp and their guard raised. But strangely... nothing happened. No one approached them. Not a single figure dared to come close, even though they were clearly carrying supplies...things that would tempt anyone in such a barren land.
Still, no one came. The reason was simple: Xuan Long. He walked among them, his presence calm yet overwhelmingly oppressive, the aura he carried enough to suppress any ill intentions from afar.
Those hiding beneath the sand or watching from a distance didn’t dare to move, didn’t dare to reveal themselves.
And so, the journey remained peaceful...until suddenly, "Lan Lan..." Su Qinglan froze, her body halting abruptly as her brows furrowed slightly.
Su Qinglan: "...?"
She turned her head, scanning her surroundings. Did someone just call her? The voice had been faint, almost carried away by the wind, but unmistakably it was familiar.
Her gaze swept left, then right, then behind her, but there was nothing...just endless sand.
"...Strange..." she murmured under her breath.
Then her gaze dropped, and she saw it...a hand, sticking out of the sand.
Su Qinglan: "...?" "What the hell?"
Xuan Long, who stood beside her, also stopped, his eyes narrowing slightly as they locked onto the same sight.
Su Qinglan’s expression turned serious. Someone was buried there, and more importantly, that faint, familiar energy... she recognized it.
Without hesitation, she lightly patted Han Jue. "Go there." The moment they got close, she immediately jumped down and crouched in front of the hand.
"...Who would be buried like this?" Before she could make a move, "Growl?! (Mother?!)" "Growl!! (What is that?!)"
The two tiger cubs noticed her stopping, and without thinking, they leaped off Hu Yan’s back and ran toward her excitedly.
"Wait..." The moment Xiao Yi’s paw touched the sand.
Thud!
He accidentally nudged the hand. And then the hand moved. It shot up slightly and grabbed his paw tightly.
Xiao Yi: "..."
Silence hung in the air for a single second before.
"GRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!" Xiao Yi exploded, his fur standing on end instantly as his entire body trembled like a leaf in a storm.
"IT GRABBED ME!!! IT GRABBED ME!!!"
"LET GO...!! LET GO OF ME!!" He began jumping in place, his tiny body shaking violently as he tried to pull his paw back, but the hand didn’t move and held even tighter.
"I’M TOO YOUNG..!! I DON’T WANT TO DIE !!"
Tears flooded his eyes instantly, snot following right after as panic completely took over him.
"I’M NOT TASTY !! I ONLY LOOK CHUBBY !!" his growl in his tiger language, "I’M ACTUALLY VERY SKINNY !! VERY VERY SKINNY !!"
He jumped again and again, still stuck. "THIS IS A GHOST!! MOMMY SAID GHOSTS LIVE IN SAND!!" he cried loudly, fully convinced of his own words.
"I DON’T EVEN HAVE MUCH MEAT!! PLEASE EAT MY BROTHER!!"
Beside him, Xiao Er froze. "...Grr?" (...Excuse me?)
But Xiao Yi didn’t stop. "I DON’T TASTE GOOD!! I’M SOUR!!" Tears and snot mixed together as he shook his paw desperately.
"LET ME GO!! I PROMISE I’LL NEVER EAT AGAIN!!"
Han Jue: "..."
Hu Yan: "..."
Rong Ye: "..."
Shi Feng: "..."
Even Xuan Long went silent.
Su Qinglan stared at the scene. She really felt her son’s personality had definitely taken after hers. She looked at the speechless Hu Yan and couldn’t control her laughter.
"Who told you about ghosts?" Hu Yan asked him with twitching eyes.
The crying Xiao Yi immediately looked at his mother, and only now did she realize that her baby was wailing about ghosts.
"Ahem... it’s not her fault; she has just used it to pat them to sleep." She immediately removed the hand from the small paw and looked at the long bony hand.
Suddenly, the sand shifted, and the man buried beneath slowly began to emerge. However, Xuan Long didn’t wait for him to fully come out...he kicked the body away immediately.
Su Qinglan was stunned. Even Xiao Yi’s mouth fell open wide enough to fit two eggs. He looked at Xuan Long with shining eyes.
Father Xuan Long is so powerful... he can even kick ghosts.
"You fucking bastard! Just wait, I’ll kill you!"
The man suddenly spat out a huge mouthful of sand. Before anyone could react, Xuan Long grabbed Xiao San from his head and flung him toward Su Qinglan.
Xiao San: "..." (Father, have you ever heard of gentle parenting?)
He could only hiss, because in the very next second, Xuan Long himself was flung away from where he stood.
Xiao San immediately shut his mouth.
Unlike him, the others were far from calm.
Everyone’s jaws dropped as they stared at the newcomer, who slowly brushed the sand off his body. Then, he walked toward the stunned Su Qinglan and gave her a bow.
"Beautiful Lan Lan, we meet again..."
He took her hand and gently kissed the back of it.
"Ouch! You damn bastard, let me go!" An Mo shouted as his neck was suddenly grabbed from behind.
The man merely glanced at Su Qinglan with a sheepish smile and said, "Lan Lan, control your husband... he might turn into a bull beast and attack everyone."
"You should let go of her first," Xuan Long growled, tightening his grip on the back of the man’s neck.
"Lan Lan, your hands are so soft..." the man murmured, his thumb brushing over her palm as he shot Xuan Long a provocative glance.
Caught between them, Su Qinglan flushed in embarrassment and quickly pulled her hand back.
"An Mo, what are you doing here?" she asked softly. "Who buried you in the sand?"
