Chapter 363: Chapter 363: Premonition

The Bird Leader took a step back in the air, his wings trembling. He felt a wave of terror like never before.

Even if she was a criminal, no female deserved a death so cruel.

And if she was telling the truth...if she was really the witch doctor’s mate...then the man standing next to him was not a person.

He was a demon. How could he watch such a gruesome death with a smile on his lips?

The witch doctor turned his head slowly, the evil smile still on his face. He looked at the Bird Leader, who was now pale and shaking.

"Tribe leader, sorry for the inconvenience," the witch doctor said calmly, as if he hadn’t just watched a woman be shredded to pieces.

"Shall we lead the beast tide toward the fleeing Fox Tribe now?"

The Bird Leader couldn’t find his voice. He could only nod stiffly, his heart cold with dread.

He realized he had made a terrible mistake.

Why does he look so terrifying? he thought. What have I done? If he can watch his own mate die like this, what will he do to my tribe?

The Bird Leader transformed back into a hawk and took to the sky, but his mind was racing.

He felt a sudden, heavy weight in his chest...a premonition that his own tribe would be the next to be annihilated.

Below, the witch doctor watched the hawk fly away and sneered.

"Fools," he hissed. "Your time will come soon. My pets are hungry, and once they finish with the foxes, they will devour your Bird Tribe next. They have already sacrificed their own cubs to the madness; they won’t stop until the valley is red."

The bear beast, now finished with its meal and covered in Mu Lihua’s blood, climbed out of the pit and knelt at the witch doctor’s feet like a loyal dog.

The old man reached out and patted the monster’s gore-stained head, his eyes fixed on the distant forest where the fox tribe was running.

Xuan Long moved through the trees like a ghost.

He had already finished off the birdmen who dared to insult his female, but as he turned to leave, he suddenly froze. He felt a shift in the air...a dark, sticky energy coming from the direction of their old village.

His eyes changed instantly, glowing with a cold, sharp light. He looked back toward the Fox Tribe’s mountain and sensed the madness of the beast tide.

He didn’t waste a second trying to go back and find the source. His priority was his family. Nothing else mattered. He turned and blurred through the forest, heading straight for the rear of the fleeing tribe.

When he reappeared beside Su Qinglan, she let out a long breath of relief. "You’re back!" she whispered.

But Xuan Long didn’t smile. His face was like stone.

"Lan Lan, the beast tide is approaching faster than before. The old witch doctor is deliberately leading them to us. He doesn’t just want us to run; he wants the Fox Tribe to die here."

He didn’t lower his voice. He wanted everyone to hear.

The beastmen nearby stiffened, their faces twisting with fear and pure rage.

They had shared their food and warmth with that old man for years. They had respected him as a healer, only for him to turn into a monster who guided death to their doorstep.

"That disgusting, evil beast!" a fox warrior hissed, his claws digging into the dirt as he ran.

"We took care of him, and this is how he repays us?"

The news spread through the line like wildfire. The people were heartbroken and furious.

They realized that the witch doctor didn’t just hate them...he wanted to annihilate them so no one would be left to tell the truth about his crimes.

Only if the Fox Tribe was wiped out could he go back to his old life and pretend he was a holy man.

"What did we expect from a worker of the Black Temple?" another elder scoffed, his eyes filled with hatred.

"He is more than evil. If we don’t serve his wishes, he kills us. He won’t stop until every single one of us is a corpse."

The hatred for the witch doctor burned in their hearts, giving them a second wind. They weren’t just running for survival anymore; they were running out of spite for the man who betrayed them.

"If we survive this," a young warrior whispered, his eyes burning with a dark fire, "I will be the first to tear his throat out. He shouldn’t be allowed to breathe the same air as our cubs."

The others nodded grimly. The desire to kill the old witch doctor was no longer just about anger; it was about justice.

They wanted to make sure he could never deceive another tribe, never lead another family to their deaths, and never hide his vile soul behind a healer’s cloak again.

How could the beastly land even allow such a person to walk upon it?

But then, the ground shook again...a deep, low rumble that vibrated through their footpads. The reality of the situation came crashing back down.

"We can’t kill him," Su Mingxuan, the Tribe Leader, called out from the front, his voice heavy with grief.

"Right now, he is behind a wall of thousands of beasts. To reach him, we would have to die first."

His words were a cold bucket of water over their rage.

They were powerless.

Against the old witch doctor and his dark magic, they were just people running for their lives.

Even if they had the strength of ten men, they couldn’t fight a tide of madness guided by a worker of the Black Temple.

"He wants us to turn back and fight," Su Qinglan said, her voice sharp and clear. "He wants us to waste our strength in anger. But the best way to spit in his face is to live."

She looked at her husband and then at the long line of her people.

"If we die, he wins..."

"If we survive, his lies will eventually crumble."

"Our priority is our lives. We save the females, we save the cubs, and we keep moving. We can only kill a monster if we are alive to hold his throat."
