Chapter 721: Chapter 721: Why the Nosebleed?

Ji Wei subconsciously reached out and touched, then brought her hand up to her eyes to check.

Her fingers actually had blood on them—bright red blood...

She... was having... a nosebleed!

Ji Wei’s face instantly turned red all the way down to her neck. How completely hopeless was this? Just a glimpse of Gu Moqian half-naked and she ended up with a nosebleed. She wanted to dig a hole and bury herself—her embarrassment had reached all the way to the Pacific Ocean!

Flustered, Ji Wei struggled to get up, but Gu Moqian was quicker, gently helping her up. One hand held her by the back, while the other grabbed the tissues nearby and started wiping her nosebleed.

Now half her body was leaning into Gu Moqian’s arms, and because her nose couldn’t stop bleeding, Ji Wei had no choice but to tilt her head back. From this angle, she got a full view of Gu Moqian’s sharply defined jawline.

Even from such an awkward angle, the man was, as always, excessively handsome. A faint hint of stubble on his chin added an air of rugged masculinity and mature allure.

Seeing that the bleeding wouldn’t stop, Gu Moqian frowned slightly before carefully laying her flat, with her head propped up a bit higher.

"I’ll go grab a towel. Stay still and wait for me, okay?" His deep gaze settled on her as he instructed.

"Oh."

Ji Wei answered grudgingly.

As the sound of Gu Moqian’s footsteps receded, Ji Wei grabbed several tissues all at once, crumpling them into balls and stuffing them into her nostrils to stop the blood flow.

When Gu Moqian returned with a cold, wet towel, the first thing he saw was Ji Wei with tissues stuffed in both nostrils, her cheeks bright red, staring up at the ceiling with a look of utter despair.

The corners of his sensual lips unconsciously curved into a smile.

She looked absurd—but somehow, kind of cute like that.

Gu Moqian sat down on the edge of the bed and pressed the cold towel against the bridge of Ji Wei’s nose to constrict her blood vessels and stop the bleeding.

Ji Wei didn’t know where to look, her eyes darting around unnaturally as her expression stiffened.

The man’s impeccably handsome face was so close, his gaze deep and vast, like a starry sky. Just as her flushed cheeks had begun to cool down, they started burning again.

Never in her life had she stared at a man so intensely that it caused a nosebleed—and the man in question was none other than her soon-to-be ex-husband.

Embarrassing wasn’t even the word for it!

Gu Moqian’s expression took on a slightly solemn air as he continued holding the towel against her nose with steady hands.

The bedroom was unusually quiet; Ji Wei could clearly hear the sound of her own heartbeat—thump, thump, thump.

Noticing her awkwardness, Gu Moqian asked gently, "Feeling better?"

"Mm-hm, the bleeding should’ve stopped." Ji Wei blurted out, wishing more than anything to escape this mortifying scene.

Gu Moqian took the towel away, glanced at the tissues in her nostrils, and reached out to remove them—but Ji Wei was faster, lifting her own hands to take them out first.

"No need, I’ll take care of it myself..."

Quickly, she pulled out the blood-soaked tissues, forcing an awkward half-smile.

Despite the lingering metallic tang of blood in her nostrils, the bleeding had stopped. Seems like Gu Moqian’s method really worked.

Gu Moqian set the wet towel on the bedside table, but before Ji Wei could catch her breath, he suddenly leaned down, his hands braced on either side of her head, eyes fixed deeply on hers as he lowered his voice to inquire, "Why the nosebleed?"

"Why—why does there have to be a reason? It just suddenly started bleeding..." The woman’s face flushed even redder as her gaze darted uselessly away.

Her words, though, lacked conviction.

Ji Wei’s hands nervously gripped the corner of the blanket tightly.

With the man towering over her like this, she could smell the faint, pleasant fragrance of his body wash. That outrageously handsome face of his was close enough to touch—only a few centimeters away.

Ji Wei held back and held back—if she got another nosebleed now, she’d never be able to face anyone again.

Did he have any idea how provocative he was being?

Could he have forgotten that all he was wearing below was just a bath towel? His bare chest, fully exposed to her, was practically taunting her—he had to be doing this on purpose!
