Chapter 676: Chapter 676: A Strange Man’s Voice on the Phone

Ji Wei fell asleep leaning against her son’s small bed.

At around eight in the morning, An An woke up, waving his tiny arms and legs, babbling softly in his crib. Ji Wei heard her son’s voice and lifted her head wearily.

Her arm was numb from being used as a pillow, and she stretched it a few times to ease the discomfort.

Her head was still aching from the hangover, and her eyes felt sore, seemingly swollen.

"An An, good morning! Mommy’s here."

Ji Wei rubbed her eyes, trying to wake herself up, then leaned over to pick up the baby from the crib. A gentle smile graced her face as she kissed her son’s chubby little cheeks.

An An giggled gleefully.

"What is the baby trying to say? Seeing Mommy makes you really happy, right?"

Aunt Zhu pushed open the door and saw Ji Wei holding An An and chatting with him. She was still wearing yesterday’s jeans paired with a checkered shirt, and Aunt Zhu was a little startled.

The madam stayed here all night?

Noticing Ji Wei’s red, swollen eyes, Aunt Zhu immediately recalled the scene from last night when Gu Moqian brought her back. She wondered if the two had a quarrel. No wonder Mr. Gu wasn’t seen anywhere this morning—he must have left last night.

The couple, who once seemed so deeply in love, suddenly turned out like this. Aunt Zhu couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.

"Madam, you should freshen up. I’ll watch over the little master," Aunt Zhu said to Ji Wei.

Ji Wei handed An An over to Aunt Zhu, left the nursery, and went back to her own bedroom.

The mirror reflected back her face, with eyes swollen to the size of walnuts. Ji Wei stared at the image, dazed, as waves of discomfort surged again. She steeled herself against it.

Lowering her head, she pulled open the drawer of the dressing table, intending to find some makeup to cover her weary face. Her gaze, however, landed on a brocade box tucked in the corner of the drawer.

A delicate box crafted from red satin—it held her and Gu Moqian’s wedding ring.

Since she often needed to carry An An, she had tucked the ring away to prevent it from accidentally scratching her son.

Ji Wei stared at the box for quite a while before finally taking it out and slowly opening it.

The diamond on the wedding ring still gleamed brilliantly, symbolizing pure and eternal love. Ironically, the man who put this ring on her finger had ended up turning his heart elsewhere.

Her fingers brushed over the large heart-shaped diamond. The sensation of its cold, hard surface made her fingertips tremble.

After just a few seconds, she closed the lid on the box.

This ring no longer belonged to her. Along with everything Gu Moqian had given her, she would return it all.

After quickly using makeup to mask the exhaustion on her face, Ji Wei went downstairs. While eating breakfast, she remembered that her bag and phone were still in the car. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

The car was probably still parked outside the An Jue Bar.

Ji Wei explained the situation to Aunt Zhu before heading out. As she passed by the villa’s driveway, she unexpectedly saw the Bentley she drove out in yesterday.

Who had driven her car back?

Ji Wei looked surprised. The only person with the car keys was... Gu Moqian.

She quickly masked the painful expression in her eyes, walked over, opened the car door, and retrieved her bag and phone.

When she turned on the phone screen, she saw more than a dozen missed calls from Xia Duoduo.

Last night both of them were heavily drunk. Gu Moqian had brought her back to Shanshui Manor, but she didn’t know whether Xia Duoduo had returned home safely.

Ji Wei immediately dialed back.

The ringing sounded several times before someone finally picked up: "Hello?"

A male voice came from the other end of the line—young and full of energy.

Ji Wei was stunned.

After confirming she hadn’t dialed the wrong number, she asked again, "This is my friend’s phone. May I know who you are?"
