Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 611: Some flowers, no matter how beautiful, belong to someone else; don’t indulge in wishful thinking
"Sister Wei, look, this is what a wild bird egg looks like!" Jin Xin eagerly opened her hand. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Ji Wei noticed a pale green speckled egg in her palm, larger than a chicken egg.
"Why did you steal a bird egg? Put it back!" Jin Qichuan frowned and lightly reprimanded.
"I just wanted to show it to Sister Wei, I’m not taking it away, hmph!" Jin Xin protested defiantly. "Calling your little sister a thief—how heartless!"
"You’re not a child anymore. Stop doing such childish things," Jin Qichuan said with a serious expression.
"Mom says I’ll always be her little darling. I think you’re just jealous!" Jin Xin fired back, sticking out her tongue provocatively.
Having a sister like this, Jin Qichuan felt a headache brewing.
Jin Xin, feeling triumphant, hummed a little tune as she went back to return the bird egg.
Ji Wei stood to the side, watching the sibling banter, and couldn’t help but smile.
Having siblings is truly a blessing.
Sadly, her only cousin who she had once truly cared for, Ji Shanshan, turned out to be someone who wanted her dead.
Ji Wei’s thoughts wandered for a moment, as she inadvertently took a step forward. But her shoe snagged on a wild vine, causing her to lose control and stumble forward.
Startled, Ji Wei instinctively reached out to grab hold of something, when suddenly a hand appeared out of nowhere, gripping her hand firmly. Another hand supported her waist, pulling her back just in time.
Ji Wei’s body involuntarily leaned backward, her palms landing on Jin Qichuan’s chest. Flustered, she quickly stepped back and politely said, "Thank you, Mr. Jin..."
"Watch your step!" Jin Qichuan called out urgently as she once again moved to step onto the vine.
But this time, before he could reach Ji Wei, a forceful tug had already pulled him away.
Mo Qian’s cold gaze swept over him, giving him a warning glare before pulling Ji Wei directly into his embrace, as if declaring his claim.
"Mo Qian, why are you here?" Ji Wei looked up at him in surprise from within his arms.
Mo Qian’s handsome profile remained icy, his deep eyes quietly studied her for several seconds before bending down and sweeping her off her feet: "It’s cold outside. We’re going back."
As her body was suddenly lifted, Ji Wei instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. Turning her head to glance at Jin Qichuan standing in place, she felt a bit apologetic.
If Jin Qichuan hadn’t grabbed her earlier, she definitely would have fallen.
Had Mo Qian misunderstood something?
Jin Qichuan stood motionless, watching them walk away.
Jin Xin had seen everything that had just happened. She walked over, noticed her brother’s tense, brooding expression, and felt a twinge of sympathy. But she deliberately spoke in a teasing tone: "Brother, no matter how pretty certain flowers are, they’re still someone else’s. Let’s stop daydreaming, okay?"
She just wanted to urge him to give up any thoughts he shouldn’t have.
Jin Qichuan shot her a cold glance, his lips pressed tightly together.
"Always that sour face! I’m so sick of it!" Jin Xin complained disdainfully, forcibly dragging him forward. "Let’s go find Xiao Xu. He’s got all kinds of fancy liquor. If you want to drink, I won’t stop you."
...
Returning to the villa, Mo Qian finally put Ji Wei down. After carrying her all the way, his chest rose and fell slightly, though his face remained stern.
"Weren’t you at the office? Why did you suddenly come back?" Ji Wei, both amused and exasperated, looked at him and asked upon seeing his jealous demeanor.
Mo Qian glanced at her but said nothing, turning and walking straight to the study.
Ji Wei followed behind him, earnestly explaining, "Mr. Jin came to see Jin Xin. We happened to be going out for a walk, so he just tagged along."
Mo Qian pushed open the study door and stepped inside, saying nothing.
Watching his silence as he busied himself flipping through the drawers for files, Ji Wei sighed quietly to herself.
Her husband was truly an old-fashioned jealous king.
