Chapter 52: Journey To Eldrion

Minutes passed and Derrick couldn’t stop thinking about this Eldrion.

There was something about that name, something that felt strangely familiar. π—³πš›πšŽπšŽπ˜„π•–π•“π•Ÿπ• πšŸπšŽπ•.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Besides the readings he had done, he could have sworn he had seen that name engraved somewhere else.

"What’s on your mind?" Sir Thompson had noticed the look on Derrick’s face and couldn’t help but be curious.

"Nothing, it’s just..." Derrick hesitated for a second, but Sir Thompson gave him a reassuring look which eased the tension in his heart.

"Eldrion, what exactly is he like?" Derrick asked. He couldn’t just head in there expecting Eldrion to share his eagerness to be acquainted.

"Eldrion is..." Sir Thompson took a deep breath, his mind was searching for the right words. He wasn’t sure how to describe Eldrion.

"I don’t exactly know what adjective I can use, but I know he’s not a bad person," Sir Thompson said.

"I see." Derrick sighed, unable to think clearly, everything was getting too much for him.

He thought when he took down Ivan it would all be over, but yet here he was with a fresh new set of problems.

And it wasn’t any minor ones, the entire fate of Dravania rested on his shoulders, and if he didn’t do anything soon, then he would lose, woefully.

"How’s Royal Knight?" Derrick asked. This was another thing that was really bothering him.

He had been forbidden by the scholars and healers from seeing the Royal Knight, because he was a constant distraction.

Derrick could still go see him, but he knew it was best he let those looking after Royal Knight do their job.

Each time he went there, he just ended up screaming at them and asking questions that made him even more confused.

"He’s not getting worse." Sir Thompson tried to smile, but it cracked immediately.

"Neither is he getting better." He needed to tell himself and Derrick the truth.

"I’ve noticed something..." The feeling had been nagging Derrick for quite some time, but he never really spoke about it.

"What?" Sir Thompson was genuinely curious.

"He’s being..." Derrick was unsure if he should say it. The words lingered on his lips, but he feared to voice them out.

"Corrupted." Derrick’s words put fear into the eyes of Sir Thompson.

"I’m sure you’ve seen it, those black veins, the dark aura surrounding him, it’s similar to that of a dark beast." Derrick’s words made Sir Thompson even more scared.

"If what you are saying is true, then that means the dark emperor has found a way to spread his darkness to humans." Sir Thompson shivered at the words.

For the longest time, the darkness only consumed beasts and certain creatures, but the thought of it possessing humans was just horrid.

"I will look into this Derrick, but rest assured, nothing will happen to him." Sir Thompson beat his chest in affirmation.

He was about to say something else, change the topic to Derrick’s love life or lack of, but he was interrupted by the knight.

"We’ve reached Sir." The knight seated at the front of the carriage spoke.

"Ready yourself." Sir Thompson alighted from the carriage along with Derrick, who was met with a familiar sight.

"I’ve been here before," Derrick said, his voice sounded unsure.

"What? Where?" Sir Thompson was shocked. Someone like Derrick shouldn’t even know these parts of Dravania.

"Are you sure of what you’re saying?" On the other hand, Derrick could be mistaken.

"Yes, I’m sure, I’ve seen this place before," Derrick said.

What lay before him was a quiet and deserted area. It had a wall of trees surrounding the outside, but if one peered closer, they would see the lush grass on the other side.

The sound of running water indicated the presence of a river, and deep within, Derrick could also see a reasonably huge boulder the size of a house.

"After the awakening ceremony, we rescued you here." The knight manning the carriage finally spoke up.

His words brought back a flash of memories for Derrick. It was still very hazy, but he could barely remember.

"Yes, you’re right." It finally clicked for Derrick, the realization dawned on him.

"Hmm, well let’s get going?" Sir Thompson didn’t want to linger on this topic, he had his own theory but didn’t want to press forward.

"Very well," Derrick followed Sir Thompson’s lead, while the knight remained by the carriage, his sword drawn.

Sir Thompson walked into the forest, and the leaves began to move, triggered by his presence.

Tree branches, leaves and all forms of greenery twisted, forming what seemed to be a woman.

"It’s me." Sir Thompson said completely unbothered, while Derrick just stood there, trying not to seem surprised.

"You have brought another with you. Who is he?" The woman asked while pointing at Derrick, who could feel a slight tingling.

"Yes, he is to be trained by Eldrion," Sir Thompson said casually.

"I see." The woman’s voice was calm, too calm.

Derrick’s hand slowly inched towards his blade, he could tell that something was about to happen, and he didn’t want to be caught with his pants down.

Especially not in an environment like this, he had his fair share of magical forests and was unwilling to have a repeat.

"I am Derrick, Prince of Dravania," Derrick said, trying to use his prince status to his advantage.

He was trying his best to avoid any form of conflict. He had no idea about the terrain or the power of this woman.

"That is irrelevant." The woman’s voice grew strange, its pitch too high for comfort.

"What matters is what Eldrion has ordered." Before Derrick could get a word in, he saw Sir Thompson vanish.

"And what has Eldrion ordered?" Derrick pulled out his nullspire blade and activated his dragon eyes.

His Varyn shot through his body, delivering extra strength and power to his body, a trick Sir Thompson had taught him.

The woman’s face twisted into a smile, one that sent chills down Derrick’s spine.

She moved, and so did Derrick.
