Classless Awakening; My Dragon Is Legendary-Chapter 17: Wrong Target
A new day graced Dravania, and this time, Derrick had risen before the sun.
He had been too proud and excited after his victory yesterday, and couldn’t sleep.
Instead, he stayed up all night, his mind fixated on the idea of using Varyn.
He had seen Varyn’s power first hand. Adding it to his ever-growing arsenal was a huge benefit.
Derrick also couldn’t deny, he could see some changes in his body after the intensive and rigorous training.
His muscles and body had become even more toned, he felt lighter and sharper, Royal Knight’s training was really paying off
Derrick stood at the door, with his dragon eyes activated, patiently waiting for Royal knight.
Royal Knight’s rhythmic knocks came from the other side of the door, but Derrick was confused.
He couldn’t see anyone on the other side of the door, and he doubted anyone could mock Royal Knight’s signature knock.
Derrick opened the door, and still, there was no one.
"This is strange." Derrick said to himself, he was staring at nothing but the air.
Derrick’s nose caught a whiff of a familiar metallic scent, and he immediately spun around, but it was too late.
Royal Knight had already slammed him into the ground.
"Your senses are sharp," Royal Knight said standing above Derrick.
"But your reaction time needs work." Royal Knight’s words made Derrick sigh in exhaustion.
There was still a lot that Derrick had to learn, this was all just the beginning.
"What was that for?" Derrick asked, on his feet now.
"I am still testing your body to see if it can hold Varyn," Royal Knight explained.
"Your senses are sharp, you were able to break through a low-grade enchantment. " Royal Knight’s words filled Derrick with pride.
’His senses are beyond normal. It seems I don’t know the extent of the dragon spirit powers.’ Royal Knight analyzed.
He was still trying to sort out what Derrick was and the power of the dragon spirit that was inside him.
Derrick walked out of his room and Royal Knight followed behind him.
Derrick’s mind was filled with the many new things he could do with Varyn, the endless possibilities it would bring for him.
Royal Knight, on the other hand, was focused on the incoming war.
There were too many unknown factors and variables. The war against the dark emperor was one he wasn’t sure they could win.
Troops had been killed, knights laid to waste, and the dark emperor was rapidly approaching Dravania.
’Can he be ready?’ Royal Knight asked himself. Deep down, he already knew the truth.
Derrick getting strong enough to fight the dark emperor in a matter of months was nothing but a fever dream.
Derrick twisted the knob of the training room, revealing the beautiful, lush grass and training equipment neatly arranged.
"Begin your training. I shall join you later," Royal Knight informed Derrick.
He had received a piece of information he needed to relay to the king immediately.
Royal Knight snapped his fingers and he was nowhere to be seen.
Derrick did as Royal Knight instructed. He completed his mandatory training and got his daily EXP. His physical ability increased.
Slowly, Derrick was growing into something beyond just a disgraced prince.
This moment of peace and solitude gave Derrick the chance to actually question his system.
’You claim I haven’t unlocked any magical affinity, so how can I?’ Derrick asked.
At the end of the day, there was nothing like magic, and if Derrick could awaken it along with his physical training, he would rapidly become unstoppable.
[For now, I cannot disclose that information to avoid you taking any risks.]
The system’s words floated before Derrick.
’What do you mean?’ Derrick asked, he was trying to claw out every iota of information he could from the system.
[I will not discuss this topic any further.]
The system’s response enraged Derrick.
"I wake up, and the next thing I have awakened some dragon system, and here you are refusing to tell me basic things?" Derrick asked.
He still hadn’t fully adjusted to having this system.
In fact, everything was happening so fast that he didn’t have the time to properly process.
And now that the system was gatekeeping things from him.
[Like I said, I will not discuss this any further.] The system responded.
Derrick was about to go off the system when he caught a whiff of something.

He carefully and discreetly scanned the training arena, expecting Royal Knight, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The scent, the sounds, and finally their looks. These all pointed to the fact that Royal Knight wasn’t among any of these.
’Assassins,’ Derrick confirmed, they were all cloaked with basic enchantments, and had him surrounded.
’One, two, three, four, five.’ Derrick confirmed their numbers.
There were four surrounding him in a square formation, and one standing by the door.
No matter how Derrick saw it, he was boxed in, escape was out of the question.
Derrick stood to his feet, and the assassins remained still, patiently observing, waiting for the right time to strike.
"What’s the time, Royal Knight should be here any minute." Derrick lied through his teeth.
The assassins all looked at each other. Reading their body language, Derrick could tell they were scared of Royal Knight.
Derrick heaved a small sigh of relief. If these assassins were scared of Royal Knight, then that meant they weren’t that powerful.
At the same time, Derrick knew how powerful Royal Knight was, he was rumored to be as strong as the king, so he couldn’t exactly say these assassins were weak.
Derrick’s scare tactic was rendered ineffective, and he knew there was only one remaining option.
He was about to engage the assassins when the glint of the doll’s armor caught his eye.
Derrick walked up to the doll and activated it, hoping that by some miracle, the doll would help him attack the assassins.
Derrick pulled out his blade, got into a fighting stance and activated his dragon blade.
"Now, shall we begin?" Derrick asked, looking straight at the first assassin.
For a second, the assassin was confused, wondering how Derrick knew he was there.
Derrick took advantage of the confusion, he swung his sword, and the assassin narrowly dodged, but he was too slow.
Derrick had chopped off his right hand, his dragon energy-fueled blade sliced through flesh and blood easily.
The assassins all converged around Derrick, and the doll moved in.
The doll swung its own blade charged with bright orange flames.
"You picked the wrong target!" Derrick declared, and his vision slowly turned black.
