"What do you have for me?" The emperor leaned forward and asked.
"It’s from someone that I’ve met recently." Qian Shi said and passed the gift box to the eunuch.
The eunuch bowed at him and scurried back to the side of the emperor.
The emperor took the gift box from the eunuch, opened it and saw the bar of soap and the bottle of Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence inside it.

The soap was wrapped with an oil-layered paper that had nice floral decorations printed on it and it was giving out a subtle scent of lavender.
And just like the bottle, it had an emblem with the character ’Lin’ on it.
"What are these?" The emperor held them in his hands but didn’t know what they were used for.
Qian Shi bowed at him and said, "The item wrapped with the oil-layered paper, called soap, is used for bathing or cleaning.
"It leaves you feeling great after using it and leaves behind a lovely scent."
"This?" The emperor held up the bar of soap and asked.
"Yes, your majesty." Qian Shi bowed and said with a smile, "The empress and noble consort might be pleased with it."
The emperor smiled, wagged his finger at Qian Shi and said, "You and your ideas... and I was, thinking that it’s for me."
Qian Shi shook his head and said, "In a way it is, but I think that the item in the bottle would be more interesting for your majesty."
"This? It’s some elixir or pill that helps with my cultivation?" The emperor held up the bottle and asked.
"It’s not and it’s called the Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence which, as its name says, helps enhance the taste of the food.
"You need to add some into the seasoning of the food and it will make it taste many times better."
"Are you sure?" The emperor looked skeptical and he glanced over at the eunuch.
He wasn’t interested in the soap but he was indeed very much interested in tasting better food.
"I’m sure. I’ve tasted it before and it worked as promised." Qian Shi said and the eunuch quickly took the bottle from the emperor.
The eunuch quickly ran towards the direction of the imperial kitchen.
With the eunuch away, the emperor gestured for Qian Shi to take a seat on the chair by the side.
Qian Shi did so and asked, "How is the situation up north?"
The emperor leaned back onto the back of his throne and shook his head, "It’s not going too well.
"I know the Da Mang Dynasty is ready for me and yet, I have to send most of the soldiers to the borders.
"All the cultivators know, is to push me for more of my men to their eventual death."
Qian Shi frowned, shook his head and he stood up from his seat.
He gave out a long sigh and said, "I have a poem from the person I’ve met..."
"The one that gave you these?" The emperor gestured at the gift box in front of him.
Qian Shi nodded his head and he began to recite the poem from Lin Xuan Qi, "Through bitter trials my path in learning rose, while war’s cold stars around the empire froze.
"The realm lies torn like thistledown in flight, my life adrift like duckweed in the night.
"At Fearful Shoal I spoke my heart’s dismay, on Lonely Sea I mourned my fate’s dark way.
"Since ancient days, what man escapes the grave? Let loyal souls shine bright for ages brave."
The emperor closed his eyes and nodded his head while he repeated the poem he had just heard.
It rallied something that he hadn’t felt for a very long time from within.
This poem was worth more than gold for him.
"Who is this person?" The emperor opened his eyes and asked when he finally got out of the evocative mood of the poem.
"Your majesty, he is Lin Xuan Qi, a young man from Hong Feng City." Qian Shi replied.
"From a cultivator clan?"
"Not that I know of." Qian Shi shook his head and replied.
"Such a pity then." The emperor gave out a sigh and lamented.

"What other use does he have, other than writing poems to rally the troops?" The emperor asked.
Qian Shi gave him a smile, bowed and replied, "I will try and get him to help."
"Then, I shall leave it to you." The emperor didn’t have anything else to say about the matter.
The eunuch entered back into the room with a few other eunuchs behind him.
The eunuchs were holding plates in their hands and the aroma from the dishes filled the air.
"Your majesty, the imperial chef has conjured up some dishes with the Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence for your tasting.
"The poison tasting eunuch has confirmed that it is not poisonous."
The emperor nodded his head and said, "Bring them forward to me."
All of the eunuchs quickly scurried to where the emperor was and placed the plates they had onto the table.
The emperor lifted his hand and one of the eunuchs quickly handed a pair of chopsticks to him.
Qian Yi took a whiff of the dishes and it wasn’t too much of a difference to him.
He glanced over at Qian Shi and Qian Shi nodded his head with a smile.
All the eunuchs stood a distance away from him with their heads lowered.
He picked up some of the meat from one of the dishes and put it into his mouth.
Instantly, it tasted different for him, and the emperor opened his eyes with surprise when the extra taste of savory from the sauce and meat hit his taste buds.
He quickly munched on it and savored every moment of it.
The eunuchs glanced at each other and gave out a sigh when they saw the emperor enjoying the food.
The emperor glanced at Qian Shi and said, "I think this Lin Clan is much more interesting than I’ve thought."
