Chapter 430: Chapter 430: Being Disliked

The grandchildren who came today are generally around ten years old, with Honey and Seth being the youngest among them.

At this age, little kids are usually inclined towards slightly older friends, so a few quickly gathered together due to their similar age, not treating Honey and Seth more kindly just because they were today’s flower children.

Among the many children, Shawn Sheffield’s grandson, Jasper Sheffield, appeared the most special. Although only eleven years old, he was already a somewhat famous child star, had appeared in many commercials, excelled academically at school, and was planning to study abroad.

Honey really wanted to be friends with him, so she brought over a piece of her favorite strawberry cake to try to get closer, "Jasper, this cake is especially delicious. It’s for you." She looked up at the handsome boy much taller than herself, squinting with her big eyes, smiling with dimples on her cheeks.

"Thank you." Jasper accepted the cake out of politeness and continued discussing with the granddaughter of the Young Family about which school would be better for studying abroad.

Jacqueline Young, the granddaughter of the Young Family, had gone abroad last year, studying at a famous girls’ school in Britton, and was quite familiar with the situation there. Jasper had been indecisive between Britton and Meridia, so he wanted to hear Jacqueline’s opinion. He didn’t always want to be in the entertainment industry; his ambition was to become a scientist.

Honey saw her brother and the older girl chatting, not paying her any attention, and noticed that the cake was placed aside, not being eaten. Unable to hold back, she interrupted, "Brother, why don’t you go to Bellaza? Romelia is such a beautiful city, and there’s a tower at Miracle Square that looks like it could fall at any moment!"

Jasper, who had only traveled there to show off, was somewhat annoyed but didn’t say much due to his upbringing, pretending not to hear and continued talking with the Young Family’s granddaughter, "Which university do you plan to apply to in the future?"

Honey thought Jasper hadn’t heard, so she tugged on his sleeve to emphasize, "Jasper, Romelia is really beautiful!"

Jasper felt a bit helpless and said to Jacqueline in English, "Kids are just so annoying, really can’t help it."

Jacqueline smiled, "Maybe she just likes you a lot."

"Forget about it, don’t need this kind of charm." Jasper shrugged. Seeing that Honey didn’t interrupt this time, he figured the little girl couldn’t understand English, which is why she puffed up in anger looking at him, so he continued conversing with Jacqueline in English.

Honey was angry purely because she felt ignored. Even if the handsome brother disliked her, he could tell her directly. Why pretend she didn’t exist and speak badly about her to another girl?

Frowning, she listened for a while longer, then during a pause in their conversation, she seriously asked loudly, "Jasper, can’t you hear me?"

She didn’t use English like them. To her, any language was just a way to communicate, and it didn’t really signify anything special, as long as the other person understood. So while listening to them speak in English, she heard it fluently and didn’t realize Jasper switched languages intentionally to exclude her.

The little girl, fueled by anger, immediately drew a lot of attention.

Jasper felt a bit embarrassed, slightly displeased, "I heard you speaking, but I found it boring, so I didn’t respond."

"Then what do you want to talk about? I know about Meridia too." Honey furrowed her brows, resolutely asking.

Jasper sighed, "Why don’t you go play with your little brother? We don’t have much to say to each other; there’s a generation gap between us."

For the first time, Honey was directly disliked by someone she liked, making it hard for her to accept. Her big eyes welled with tears, and just as her lips pouted helplessly, she suddenly heard her brother’s voice.

"Hold back your tears, today is a good day for Vivian and our third granduncle’s wedding, no one wants to see you cry," Seth coldly commanded, sounding very unkind.

Honey glanced at her brother, and instead of feeling more wronged, she felt she had someone to rely on, hoarsely replying, "I won’t cry."

Jasper sighed in relief and said to Jacqueline, "Let’s go, cherish life, stay away from kids."

After they walked away, Ruby Sullivan approached and asked Honey what happened.

Her daughter threw herself into her mother’s arms, pitifully saying, "Mom, I was disliked."

Although Ruby was unhappy about her daughter being looked down upon, her daughter’s antics made her want to laugh. She squatted down and comforted, "Let me ask you, do you have anyone you don’t like?"

Honey thought for a moment, nodded, "Yes, but that’s because they’re too annoying." Implying, I’m not such an annoying baby.

Ruby ignored her daughter’s matter-of-fact tone, "People you dislike might not think of themselves as annoying at all, what do you think?"

"Do you mean... in Jasper’s eyes, I’m someone annoying?" Her expression darkened.

Being disliked by someone you like would be a blow even for adults, much less for Honey who has always worried about being disliked since she was small.

Ruby hugged her daughter, feeling it was time for her to grow up, "Sweetheart, you need to know that we can’t make everyone like us. However, I think if you go and sing the blessing song that Dr. L taught you, maybe Jasper will change his view of you."

Compared to those scholarly children, Honey is indeed a bit naive. Even though she spends days trailing her brother for knowledge, it hasn’t been very effective. She just managed to count to a hundred last week. Her proficiency in languages is perhaps her only standout talent, likely due to her living abroad all her life.

Honey’s eyes lit up, "Really?"

"Possibly, but boys do like exceptional girls. You sing so well, it might make him like you?"

"Yes, Jasper will definitely like my singing." Saying this, she went to find Vivian, as she thought Vivian was today’s main character and she should ask the bride for permission to sing.

Seth watched his sister’s retreating figure, slightly displeased, "What’s so special about Jasper? Honey is just too silly."

Ruby looked at her complaining son and teased mischievously, "Seth, are you jealous of Jasper?" She understood quite well her son’s overly protective nature towards his sister.

Seth tilted his head, "Why would I be jealous? Even if Honey likes him, she’s still my sister, she still has my blood in her veins, nothing can change that."

Ruby couldn’t help but laugh, "Yes, yes, Honey will always be your sister alone."

She saw Honey running towards the band, so she took her son’s hand, intending to get closer to listen in.

The blessing song Honey was taught by Dr. L when she was learning to speak, in the blink of an eye, she and Dr. L have broken off, her daughter has grown up, and Ruby couldn’t help feeling sentimental.
