Chapter 360: Chapter 360: Leaving Home

Leon Sterling specially cooked hangover soup for Ruby Sullivan and Cindy Sterling. Cindy had just gotten up and was still a bit dazed. After drinking the hangover soup and sitting quietly for a while, she suddenly remembered what happened last night and immediately looked at Leon with gossiping eyes, "Second brother, was Sasha Shaw okay last night?"

"Nothing major, just injured her toe." Leon pretended not to catch the true meaning behind the question.

Seeing her daughter’s expression, Vivian immediately sensed there was news and said nonchalantly, "I quite like Sasha Shaw. She’s talented, and you two are half colleagues, surely there’s a lot to talk about." She didn’t know that her son had previously dated Sasha Shaw for a while.

Leon was speechless and really wanted to know how she calculated this "half colleague" thing.

Seeing Ruby eating absent-mindedly, he changed the topic, "The Sterling Group’s PR started working last night, it was a direct order from my brother, so no media will dare to publish random news."

Ruby was only thinking about her own situation, and after hearing him, she was stunned for a moment before responding with a simple "Hmm."

Vivian, not knowing what happened last night, couldn’t help but be curious, "What happened again last night?"

"Someone deliberately caused trouble, all sorts of underhanded tricks." Cindy recalled last night’s events with disdain, "Sister-in-law, don’t worry, Nirvana and Metamorphosis won’t be affected."

The modeling industry has even more messy stuff. She felt that those who only focus on others’ private lives were the ones with issues. They aren’t celebrities, and they’re not drawing in fans with their personas, just focus on the works.

Seeing Ruby’s uneasy face, Vivian assumed she was worried and comforted her, "The Sterling Group has been too aggressive these past two years, with Ethan and Aidan being too pushy, it’s unavoidable to make enemies. These people can’t do anything about the Sterlings, it’s possible they’re causing trouble for you on purpose. You don’t have to worry, just let Ethan handle it."

"Hmm." Ruby smiled slightly and continued eating, not really wanting to say much more.

Even if someone is causing trouble, what happened last night did happen. The more they talked about it, the more she remembered, and the more painful it was for her in her heart.

In the afternoon, Vivian had plans with Uncle, and after resting for a while after lunch, she went out. Cindy wanted to continue sleeping, Leon painted, and the driver took Ruby and her two children back to their current residence.

The two kids were a bit sleepy during nap time in the car and obediently went to their rooms to sleep when they got home.

Ruby soaked in the bath for half an hour, tidied up, and started packing her luggage.

She was somewhat afraid to see Ethan and had to leave before he got home. She knew this was a cowardly approach, but she felt that talking face-to-face could lead to more rational judgment, especially when it came to matters of the heart.

In the afternoon, she played with her kids for a while, then gathered them together and seriously told them that she might have to go on a business trip for some time, but assured them that Dad would be back soon. She asked them to behave well during this period and promised they could call her whenever they missed her.

The sudden news left the kids a bit bewildered, but remembering that Dad had been away for many days, they quickly accepted the fact.

Honey hugged her mom, feeling a bit sad, "Mommy, you’re working hard. I’ll listen to brother, Mama Bennett, and Owen Fulton. You don’t have to worry."

The son was more concerned about his mom’s health, "Make sure you eat and sleep on time while working, and drink less alcohol!"

Ruby kissed her son’s forehead, "Don’t worry, son. You guys take care of yourselves too, alright?"

The kids nodded their heads.

Seth added, "I’ll take good care of my sister. You work well outside; finish your work and come back soon."

"Okay!"

"Remember to bring us gifts," Honey worriedly reminded her. After realizing that her brother didn’t ask for gifts, she felt it was not sensible of her to mention it, so she quickly added, "If it’s inconvenient, it’s okay not to buy any."

Ruby bitterly smiled, "Mommy will try her best to bring you gifts, okay?"

"Hmm." Honey nodded, grinning.

After they said their goodbyes, Mama Bennett was a bit reluctant, "Is it so urgent? Why not wait a bit, I’ll cook right away, and you can eat before you go."

"I booked a plane ticket, and if I don’t leave now, it’ll be too late," Ruby said, pretending to be in a difficult position. She quickly smiled and went out, not daring to stay a second longer for fear her face would betray her.

After leaving, she took a taxi to Sasha’s place. That one had just woken up from a nap and hadn’t been up long before she was eating instant noodles.

Unable to bear the sight, Ruby ordered some fresh groceries online, and as soon as they arrived, she started cooking.

Moving out was not only about avoiding Ethan but also about trying to see what it would be like to live away from the kids.

Though she’s been busy every day lately, she’d still check on the sleeping kids even when coming home late. If she and Ethan completely separated, she wouldn’t be able to see them this frequently until she settled down again.

Sasha still couldn’t quite understand her reasoning, but she knew that even if a third party saw matters between two people clearly, it still wouldn’t be a complete picture, so she didn’t mention those troubling things again. Once they were full and satisfied, they slumped on the sofa to watch a movie, reminiscent of their university days.

Last night’s live broadcast was interrupted right when a self-proclaimed fan-reporter started causing trouble. Although there were various speculations online, all those voices disappeared by this morning. Pre-planned promotions were released simultaneously, and now the online buzz around Sasha and Ruby was all about Metamorphosis and Nirvana products.

Another persistent hot topic was Emma’s trending news.

Her stunning runway look once again thrilled the fans.

After the previous ad, she hadn’t made another appearance, and fans were worried she might go silent for a long period again like before. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

At night, likely having just woken up, Cindy posted a long blog about her current work situation, mentioning that she would continue working for Nirvana and Metamorphosis unless they didn’t want her anymore, filled with a bit of self-deprecating black humor that attracted a large batch of new fans.

Cindy loves the stage; anyone who has been glorious under the spotlight would be reluctant to leave that place. But she also loves her current job, so she doesn’t want to force herself anymore and just wants to go with the flow.

In the deep of night, Ruby was sleeping soundly when suddenly the phone ringing woke her up.

Her phone had four whitelist numbers: Sasha, Honey, Seth, and Ethan Sterling.

She thought she was dreaming and hesitated for quite a while before groggily answering the phone without looking at the name on the screen.

"Hello?"

"Come down now, I’m downstairs," Ethan Sterling’s deep voice came through the phone.

Ruby jolted half-awake and immediately sat up, "I... I’m on the plane now."

"Do you want me to come upstairs and wake Sasha up too?" He frowned, feeling that her previous words were simply underestimating him.

Could she be on the plane, and he wouldn’t know?
