Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 358: Drowning Sorrows in Alcohol
In the Sullivan Family, Rhonda Sullivan was sitting in front of the computer watching the live stream, laughing heartily. She laughed so much that tears streamed down her face and she couldn’t stop. If it weren’t for her stomach starting to hurt, she might have continued.
She grabbed a tissue to wipe her tears, paused for a moment, and then picked up the phone to call L, "I did pretty well, didn’t I?"
"Yeah." L responded blandly. Even though he had already known about the plan, for some reason, he wasn’t happy at all now. Instead, he felt a faint anger with no way to vent it.
Rhonda twirled her long hair around her finger, playfully saying, "How do you plan to reward me?" The main reason she called was to ask L for the next instructions, but she was feeling over the moon. Hearing L’s gentle voice, she couldn’t help but want to act coy with him.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she finished speaking, the call was hung up. When she tried calling again, it was immediately disconnected.
Meanwhile, L frowned and tossed his phone aside, disgusted by Rhonda’s words and suddenly feeling nauseous.
He tapped his fingers anxiously on the desk, wanting to call Ruby Sullivan, but fearing being scolded, his anxiety grew.
He felt confused. Shouldn’t he be very happy now?
He should immediately call Ruby and, with a superior tone, tell her she can’t escape his grasp. If he wanted her back, she should obediently come back.
Yet, he hesitated, and he was even afraid!
"Tch!" He shifted his gaze from the phone, letting out an annoyed huff.

In the lounge, after blocking Ethan Sterling’s number, Ruby Sullivan sat dazedly on the sofa. Her mind was blank, but she felt a lot more relieved.
Finally, the family she thought she could have was about to fall apart. Perhaps this was her fate; she must have caused destruction to the universe in her previous life, so in this one, she had to endure the hardships of human emotions.
The only thing she didn’t know how to face was the two little ones at home. They’re still too young, especially Honey, who always felt insecure about family. If she had to face loss again...
Ruby sighed deeply. More than worry and difficulty, there was an acceptance that it was what it was. Although she felt sorry for Honey and Seth, she had done her best. After all, mothers aren’t superheroes, not every problem can be solved.
Once her mood had calmed down, she called Howard to ask about Brandon Sullivan’s situation.
"He got a superficial injury on his knee when he fell, nothing serious. The doctor is applying medicine, and he should be able to walk in a bit."
Howard had initially wanted to call Dr. Lawson, but given the late hour, he thought it unnecessary to make a fuss, so he first took Brandon to the emergency room. Both legs and his waist were X-rayed, proving it was nothing serious.
"Alright, then just take him home afterwards."
"Okay, wait a moment, President Sullivan Sr. wants to say a few things to you. I’ll pass the phone to him." Howard handed the phone to Brandon Sullivan, who was sitting and applying medication.
"I..." Ruby was about to refuse when she heard the sound of calling for the phone. She frowned, thinking to hang up directly. Yet, with just a moment of hesitation, she heard Brandon’s voice.
"Ruby?"
"Yeah."
"Today is Dad’s birthday. I originally wanted to wait for you to come home to eat cake together. I saw you were busy on TV and wanted to visit you. You looked so beautiful on stage today, like a star. I’m proud that you’re successful now, with your own company. Today’s cake wasn’t good; it was a cream one. You like chocolate cake. When you have time, let’s have chocolate cake together." Brandon spoke cheerfully, like opening a floodgate of words, talking to himself, seemingly very happy.
Thinking of his illness, Ruby’s tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed, and she sighed, "Got it, you... take care of yourself."
"I’m in good health, don’t worry about me. Take care, you keep busy." After he finished speaking, Brandon handed the phone back to Howard.
Ruby sorted out her thoughts while sitting, took makeup from her bag to fix her tear-smudged face, and then called Sasha Shaw. Regardless, she couldn’t continue hiding here; showing up at the celebration party could at least quiet more than half of the people.
Sasha was waiting at the entrance of the venue. After they went in, they chatted with Dragon Girl and some familiar faces, making small talk. On the surface, everything looked harmonious.
Cindy Sterling had removed the face paint, sticking on a band-aid, and changing into denim shorts and a studded leather jacket. Her dark style made it seem the band-aid was intentionally placed. She had fun in the dance floor with model friends she hadn’t seen in a while, and then pulled Ruby and Sasha to join in.
She felt Sasha had explained it all well, never giving much thought to the video incident. Turning it over to the police was enough; only the reporters wished for something to truly happen.
It was quite tough for Ruby to engage in small talk, so she soon joined Cindy on the dance floor, awkwardly shaking hips. Sasha got drawn into their antics soon enough.
By the end of the party, the trio was somewhat hungry. They laughed as they got into Leon Sterling’s car, looking for a place to eat a late-night snack. They had skewers and beer, continuing until late at night. When they really couldn’t eat anymore, they reluctantly headed home.
Today, Sasha had unveiled a deep-seated scar in front of so many people, and her heart felt like a stone was weighing it down. But given Ruby’s somber mood, she realized her friend’s challenges were more severe, so she managed her emotions. While eating skewers, she unknowingly drank more, leaving her quite intoxicated.
Ruby, despite the carefree laughter, had not even a hint of a smile in her eyes, barely ate or drank, wearing her concerns visibly. Only Cindy, the naive one, failed to notice anything.
Leon, as the sole man, quietly sipped juice throughout, and seeing it was truly time to end, he immediately got up to settle the bill.
Cindy nudged Sasha with her eyebrows, "Sasha, you and my second brother, no hope?"
Sasha burst into laughter from the alcohol, "I’d love to know, but you need to ask your brother."
"Coward!" Cindy gave her a light slap on the head and stood up laughing.
Sasha chuckled, "Just being coward." She then slammed the table, standing up abruptly. Already dizzy, she lost her balance and toppled sideways, but Leon was quick to catch her.
"Be careful."
"Hehe, thanks." Staring at his handsome face, Sasha struggled to control herself. After regaining balance, she seized the moment to plant a peck on his face.
Leon looked at her feigning innocence, feeling somewhat helpless.
Cindy hurriedly covered her eyes, teasing, "I didn’t see anything."
Ruby was taken aback too. Sasha’s eyes had already betrayed her heart, clearly wanting to lay it all bare for him!
How wonderful! No matter the outcome, having someone to love with such abandon is beautiful, even if you can’t have them!
As she was feeling happy for Sasha, Leon inadvertently glanced her way, making her suddenly uneasy, prompting her to look down.
