Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 332: When He Wakes Up
"Dr, what kind of woman can’t you find? Why are you playing games with me like this?" On her way here, Ruby Sullivan had anticipated that he would make such a request, but hearing it from his mouth still seemed inexplicable to her.
She had been by his side for four years and never felt any romantic feelings from him. She thought she was merely a tool in his hands, one that could earn his appreciation and help him make more money.
What love, what affection? It was merely the excuse he concocted when his desire for control couldn’t be fulfilled. What he wanted was to control her, not to be with her.
But Ruby also knew it wasn’t the time to pursue these matters now, as she genuinely didn’t want to waste time questioning why.
No matter how evil Dr. L was to others, she knew that to her, he was a man of his word.
Ruby quickly composed herself, not waiting for any response from him, and slowly stood up to start undressing. She wore a fitted Chanel-style jacket and tight jeans, which weren’t hard to remove.
She stared fixedly at L, feeling with each button she unfastened, she was moving closer to an abyss, making her actions less nimble.
A few minutes later, she took off the jacket and tossed it to the ground, beginning to unbutton her white shirt.
She wasn’t some naive girl, nor someone inexperienced with men. It was merely a matter of gritting her teeth and closing her eyes. If this could save Ethan Sterling’s life, it was undoubtedly worth it.
Ruby continually found various reasons in her mind to comfort herself, yet her body involuntarily began to tremble. No matter how deeply she breathed, nor how she halted all actions to calm herself, she couldn’t control it.
Dr. L did not stop in such moments, as a warm second lead in a romance drama might do to help the female protagonist unconditionally. He didn’t utter clichés like wanting her heart and not her body. He very much enjoyed the scene in front of him; what could be more pleasing than having a woman he likes take off her clothes bit by bit before him?
At least to him now, there wasn’t. He was a perfectly normal man, his desires simple and direct; love was a vague concept. Of course, he believed in the existence of love, but felt the purest desires could make one sink deeper into them.
"If you can’t do it, don’t force it." He smiled, and at that moment even pressed the servant bell.
Ruby was still confused when suddenly a servant entered, scaring her into hastily covering her half-open shirt.
The maid respectfully placed down the coffee, turning to leave and closing the door. Although Ruby felt mortified to death, the maid seemed used to such scenes, not even glancing at her as if she were air.
L took a sip of coffee, "You can still choose to leave now."
Ruby instead calmed down.
Because she suddenly understood, in L’s eyes, she was merely a tool to fill his emptiness.
A tool doesn’t need to bear any psychological burden.
She took a deep breath, her facial expression also becoming much more serene, "So, as long as I agree to this, you’ll agree to have the government deploy patrol teams?"
L pondered for a moment, then smiled somewhat reluctantly, "Alright, you’re my only apprentice. I’m willing to treat you a bit better."
The only apprentice.
These words felt like the sharpest knife stabbing into her chest.
She thought of Faye Truman earlier, whom she regarded as closer than family, someone she believed would never hurt her, but who had taken away her child.
And now, this person who gave her a second chance at life was doing the same hurtful thing, yet still claiming it was for her good...
This was her fate, wasn’t it? What she thought was a gift from God was actually luck exchanged for a heavy price.
Perhaps it’s better this way; living becomes more grounded.
"Thank you for your grace, Master." Ruby Sullivan lifted the corners of her lips, revealing a poignant smile. A few minutes later, she had tossed aside all her clothes.
She slowly walked up to him, "Once the patrol teams go out, I am yours."
L left a gentle kiss on her firm, smooth abdomen, immediately taking out his phone to call the relevant personnel.
Afterwards, there was a long ten-minute wait, until Howard called, saying the ambassador stationed in Gallia had successfully negotiated with the officials, and a patrol team dedicated to helping search was established in Caelus.
"That’s good to hear." Ruby Sullivan hung up the phone, a tear slipping down her cheek.

With assistance from the Caelus Government, private planes and fleets from The Sterling Family and The Sinclair Family were granted entry into Gallia’s seas, alongside a dispatched rescue team, conducting a three-day and three-night search operation. Eventually, an unconscious Ethan Sterling was found on the beach of a deserted island.
He had a head injury, was running a high fever when found, likely due to hitting a hidden reef below the sea surface. Lucky for him, the currents brought him to the island and saved half his life.
After a series of comprehensive checks, it was confirmed Ethan’s injuries weren’t too severe, aside from the head wound. Based on the doctor’s assessment, at worst, it caused his coma.
It’s just unclear how long he’d been feverish; his persistent unconsciousness might be fever-related. It’s uncertain whether there’s any brain damage.
Ruby Sullivan felt the worst outcome was likely amnesia. Since his life was preserved, she should be grateful.
Three days later, Ethan’s fever subsided, but he hadn’t regained consciousness.
She stayed by his bedside as he once took care of her.
Upon receiving news, Vivian, Cindy Sterling, and Leon Sterling returned to Caelus, visiting him during the day, talking with him. In the evenings, Ruby Sullivan would sleep at his bedside, fearing he might see no one if he woke.
On this day, Leon Sterling brought porridge made at home for her to eat and then get some rest.
"Your face now looks like it aged ten years; I’m afraid Honey and Seth won’t recognize you once you return from Caelus."
Ruby Sullivan smiled, "No worries, once he wakes, I’ll rejuvenate with a few good masks."
Leon Sterling sighed, "I beg you to get some sleep; I promise to guard here closely. If my brother wakes, I’ll tell you immediately."
Ruby Sullivan shook her head, "No, I want the first person he sees when he wakes to be me." Those words were ones he had once said to her, and she understood their significance.
Leon Sterling knew further persuasion was in vain, so he let her be, "Looks like tomorrow I’ll have to bring some soup over, otherwise when my brother wakes and finds you’ve worn out, he’ll blame me."
Three days later, at the FIFI awards ceremony, Tina attended in her stead and won the Star of the Year award. Nirvana became an instant sensation; the next day, preorders were wiped out, leaving those who missed out regretting it immensely, hoping Nirvana would hit the shelves soon.
Before Tina left, she brought the trophy to the hospital, intending to show it to Ruby, and also to discuss some work matters.
"Boss, when will you return home?"
"Soon, as soon as Mr. Sterling wakes." Ruby Sullivan smiled, as if she knew exactly when Ethan Sterling would regain consciousness.
