Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 316: Honestly, a Bit Ugly
Cindy Sterling has forgotten how long it’s been since she properly looked at herself in the mirror; she stared blankly at her reflection, feeling mostly unfamiliar.
Her whole face had become rounder than before, her cheekbones didn’t seem as high as they used to be, and her nose bridge looked flatter?
The swollen eyes were even worse. Originally appearing smaller than usual, even the deep eye sockets were filled out by puffy eyelids—she was simply ugly beyond belief.
She slowly lifted her hand, hesitating for a long time before pinching her own face. The slight pain finally gave her a sense of reality.
Afterward, there was a long period of her staring into her own eyes in the mirror. There was no special feeling. Her thoughts were stagnant; it didn’t make her anxious or distressed, just unfamiliar.
After quite some time, she finally shifted her gaze to the scars on her face, her fingers following along, lightly rubbing. The pads of her fingers could still clearly feel the subtle irregularities, but looking at it this way, it didn’t seem as overwhelming as usual, almost like it wasn’t that big of a deal.
She didn’t know how much time had passed before she put her hand down, once again seriously scrutinizing the face in the mirror, frowning involuntarily. It was truly ugly, and not just because of the scars.
She turned to look at Faye Truman sitting on the bed with a tense expression, and asked in a deep voice, "How do you survive looking at me every day? Are you near-sighted?"
Faye’s head was full of question marks, not understanding what she was asking at first.
Cindy, dissatisfied with his petrified reaction, turned around, hugged her arms, and lifted her chin, "Hey, Faye Truman, I’m talking to you."
He swallowed; really unsure what she was freaking out about in the middle of the night, "I-I just get by like that..."
"Don’t you think I’m too ugly?"
Facing this deadly question, Faye Truman’s frozen brain slowly started booting up, "Honestly..." he stammered, "I never thought you were pretty before either..."
Cindy was stunned, her lips instinctively ready to curse, but she managed to control herself before the profanity slipped out.
She recalled some things from when she first met Faye and pursed her lips, "Well, you liked someone like my sister-in-law, definitely not my type."
Cindy doesn’t look like her two brothers at all; she resembles their late father, with monolids and sharper facial features. Her cheekbones are slightly high, giving her a cool and mysterious appearance.
Faye wasn’t too pleased with what he heard later, rolling his eyes, "Are you serious?"
"Yeah, you and my sister-in-law are completely not a thing anymore. She and my brother seem to be doing well together, and the possibility of divorce is quite low."
"Hey!"
Cindy raised an eyebrow and looked back at her reflection, "Do you think given how ugly I am now, my sister-in-law had to make a huge decision to ask me to shoot a commercial? Maybe it’s because my brother gave her a lot of money?"
"Cindy Sterling, that’s enough." Faye Truman snapped back to life under her sarcastic teasing, "Ruby Sullivan isn’t like that, she absolutely isn’t pitying you; she just thinks you’re suitable, and perhaps she’s also considering saving money."
Cindy laughed, "Is that so? My sister-in-law is that shrewd, huh." Her laughter surprised even herself, as if she saw herself smiling brightly in that creative commercial.
Faye Truman moved behind her, also looking at her through the mirror, "Beauty and ugliness should never have a standardized definition." He frowned slightly, "However, your face under my aesthetic sense is indeed somewhat ugly."
Cindy shot him a glare, "That’s enough from you."

Ruby Sullivan doesn’t know much about domestic celebrities; the few she does know are top stars that Nirvana absolutely can’t afford. She can only search various keywords on Baidu, first picking out a few who looked pleasant to the eye, then looking at specific introductions and searching for any news articles to check for any scandals, and understanding their media image.
By the time she came to, it was almost morning.
She saved the files, shut down her computer, stretched, and planned to take a hot shower to forcibly wake herself up.
When she returned to the bedroom, she was startled to find Ethan Sterling sitting on the bed.
"Why are you up so early?"
Ethan put down the iPad in his hand, tilted his head to look at her, his voice slightly hoarse, "All done?"
Ruby answered while looking for clothes, "Almost, I’ll discuss it with Howard when I get there." In her heart, Cindy was still the first choice, but after chatting with Faye yesterday, she was a bit reluctant to let Cindy appear on camera.
She yawned, turned around, and suddenly noticed Ethan’s face seemed a bit tired, this look... "You didn’t stay up all night too, did you?"
"Just happened to have some work; I went to the study if you weren’t using it." He explained naturally, as if having only a laptop by his side was not strange at all, as if he usually worked on an iPad.
Anyway, Ruby believed him, "Sorry, if you had work, you should have said earlier, I could work in bed." She yawned again and went to take a shower.
Ethan watched her close the door and yawned himself; for some reason, seeing his wife made him feel like he was supposed to sleep now...
Actually, he didn’t intentionally wait for her; at first, he lay down for half an hour without feeling sleepy, constantly reaching for her side, and not being able to feel anyone made his heart a bit empty. Hearing her say she’d sleep later, he thought at most until one or two in the morning, so he didn’t force himself to sleep and got up to check the news.
Unexpectedly, it took all night.
When Ruby returned from the shower, she saw Ethan had fallen asleep, so she quietly took the clothes she planned to wear today to the living room to change.
Soon after, Mama Bennett got up to make breakfast, and seeing her in the living room, she was shocked, "Second Miss, why are you up so early? I’ll get breakfast right away." She thought she might have forgotten something important.
"No rush." Ruby smiled at her, then continued to look at information about various celebrities on the computer, seriously adjusting the order of candidates.
When the two little ones got up and saw their mom working, they obediently didn’t disturb her.
Since Ethan didn’t come out by mealtime, Ruby didn’t let Mama Bennett call him. After breakfast, she went to work first, instructing the driver to pick up Ethan after dropping her off.
Of course, she wanted him to catch up on sleep at home all morning, but she didn’t have Ethan’s courage to make her sleep instead of going to work, worrying that if his company’s important tasks got delayed, it would be even more troublesome.
Nirvana has now rented half a floor for office space, and the staff has expanded from the original four senior executives to eight. Besides an HR, everyone in the product department now has an assistant, operating pretty decently according to their previous plan.
When Howard arrived at the company, the two quickly entered the office to start a meeting about endorsements. They planned to first narrow it down to five or six, then bring Claire and Tina in to choose the order of preference. After all, just because you want someone doesn’t mean they’ll agree.
