Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 315: Why Can’t She
Howard was getting a bit anxious, "Boss, the launch date for Nirvana has already been set. If we don’t start selecting people now, we might fall behind on the promotion, which could affect sales."
This time, Ruby Sullivan didn’t collaborate with any retail stores to open physical outlets; the sales were solely online, and there would only be three thousand bottles in the pre-sale stage. Buyers in the pre-sale stage would get a free laser engraving on the bottle and a matching scented soap. The official statement declared that the soap was handmade and would never be sold on the shelves.
The pre-sale period is two months, until sold out, starting from the first of next month.
The fifteenth of next month is the day when the FIFI awards are announced. Ruby Sullivan hoped to see a spike in orders after the fifteenth.
She was initially determined to win the Perfume Star award this year, but that was without Dr. L’s involvement. Now, the FIFI award selection might become pointless clouds if they couldn’t synchronize their promotions. It could result in a disastrous outcome, and might even impact the sales of the next perfume.
Although Ruby Sullivan was already a somewhat wealthy business owner, making perfume was still a costly venture. If the next perfume couldn’t become a hit, or if Nirvana’s reputation didn’t take off, she’d be left to close shop.
So, Howard’s anxiety was understandable. Although Ruby was aware of all this, she still didn’t want to give up on Cindy Sterling.
Because Cindy wasn’t just a model she admired and chose, she was also Ethan Sterling’s only sister.
She paused for a moment, got up, started changing clothes, packed her laptop, and was about to head out, "I’m going out for a while. I’ll make a decision when I get back."
Over half an hour later, Ruby Sullivan appeared at The Sterling Estate.
In just half a month, Cindy Sterling seemed much more haggard, her face slightly swollen, dark circles looking painted on, puffiness clearly under her eyes, and the scar on her face had turned an ugly deep red.
She was curled up on a single sofa, her legs draped over the armrest, holding a beer, looking indifferent, with about a dozen empty beer bottles by the sofa.
Ruby Sullivan watched for a while, even doubting her own eyes, "Did something happen?"
"You don’t need to persuade me anymore. I’m living well now, and I don’t want to go out and face the world and annoy people," Cindy Sterling burped as she spoke, glancing at her with a strange smile, a mixture of mock and self-deprecation.
Faye Truman sighed and gestured for her to talk in the room.
"Since that day, Cindy has returned to her previous degenerate lifestyle, turning day into night, eating, drinking, and sleeping. Your words stimulated her." He felt helpless too. Previously, he had dragged her to start a new life through mischief, which was successful because she was willing to change. Now, she was indulging in decay, so he was at a loss.
"Why is it like this?" Ruby Sullivan thought her actions would help her, not expecting it to backfire, feeling both surprised and heartbroken.
"She’s scared," Faye Truman frowned, "Actually, I can understand her fear. Although it seems to you like a chance for her to break free of the past, no one can say if stepping forward leads to heaven or hell. If her face isn’t accepted by the public, she might face endless ridicule and become a topic."
"And her previous fans, can they accept their goddess becoming like this? You know how much negativity there is online every day. If Cindy agrees to help you, she could very well become the target of those trolls, a sacrifice to the internet’s garbage crowd. Right now, she seems incapable of dealing with that negativity. Neither of us can guarantee her safety from harm if we offer reassurance now."
Too many people are born human but don’t know how to be kind, and that’s just the way it is.
Ruby Sullivan stayed silent for a long time, sorting through her thoughts, contemplating Faye Truman’s words, making various assumptions, but ultimately, it was all in vain.
Like Faye Truman said, she didn’t know whether Cindy’s step forward would lead to heaven or hell. She didn’t have the confidence to push her forward.
"I came today intending to show Cindy the advertising ideas, thinking she might like it after seeing it, might agree to my request." Ruby Sullivan lowered her head in defeat, with only a long sigh remaining.
But she still left a copy of the advertisement idea with Faye Truman when she left, hoping Cindy would take a look. She didn’t mind if Cindy didn’t agree, believing that the advertisement might give her some courage.
Cindy was someone who carried her own light; only the spotlight could make her shine with her most dazzling beauty. Choosing silence like this was truly a pity.
On the way back, Ruby Sullivan called Howard, arranging for them to start selecting suitable candidates tonight, and to have a meeting first thing tomorrow morning to decide. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Nirvana was not well-known now, limiting the options for endorsement selection. Even if they had someone in mind, it might not be easy to arrange, making it a complicated task.
That night, she talked to Ethan Sterling about Cindy, feeling very guilty. If she hadn’t had such a bold idea, Cindy could have at least faced life positively. Now she had suddenly regressed, possibly even more than before, wasting Faye Truman’s hard work, and it was uncertain when she would heal the pain in her heart.
Ethan Sterling felt complicated emotions thinking about his sister’s current state. He kissed Ruby Sullivan on the forehead, saying, "You mean well, don’t blame yourself. Cindy is my own sister, and I believe she can overcome this. But... this stubbornness of hers, she’ll have to break through it herself."
In the middle of the night, in the pitch-black living room, Cindy Sterling held her laptop, watching the repetitive playback of the advertisement idea on the screen, tears streaming down her face.
A person beaten down by life doesn’t deserve happiness. Why can’t she bravely take that step forward? Is she afraid of being called ugly? She doesn’t need others to say it, she knows herself, but...
After an unknown amount of time, she wiped away her tears and went to Faye Truman’s room.
Faye Truman had been keeping her company, messing around with her, and today, due to a bit of a headache, had gone to bed. In a daze, he saw a dark figure moving in and was startled awake, letting out a scream.
Cindy Sterling, annoyed, covered her ears, scolding, "Shut up, it’s the middle of the night!"
Realizing it was her voice, Faye Truman quickly closed his mouth, almost biting his tongue. He then turned on the bedside lamp, clutching the blanket, lamenting, "Madam, are you... sleepwalking?"
"I’m here to look in the mirror."
The entire mansion had mirrors removed because of her, forcing the staff to use their own small mirrors. Only Faye Truman’s room contained a full-length mirror, so she never entered this room.
Cindy Sterling said as she walked to the full-length mirror in Faye Truman’s room, blankly staring at her face in the mirror.
