Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 296: Bet-on Agreement
Skylar has been confined at home these days, not only is the door locked, but there’s also a guard watching at the door, leaving him no chance to escape.
Actually, he’s been missing Gwen a lot these days; he promised to protect her, but he failed to plead with his family, so he feels too ashamed to call her.
Seeing "Future Wife" appear on his phone screen, he thought he was dreaming. Hearing her say she wanted to see him, he grinned so wide his mouth almost reached his ears.
"Well... I was discharged from the hospital, resting at home." Skylar didn’t want to admit being locked up, which he found embarrassing.
"Then... if it’s inconvenient for you to come out while you’re resting, I’ll come to your home to see you." Gwen said, biting her lip, testing the waters.
Skylar hasn’t contacted her for so many days, clearly, he hit a roadblock while seeking help from his parents. She thought visiting the Aldrin Family might solidify her status as his girlfriend, possibly swaying them.
Skylar has such a pampered young master personality, likely spoiled rotten since childhood, doing whatever he wants without restraint. Parents like this are undoubtedly soft-hearted, so why wouldn’t they help if Skylar pleaded earnestly?
Gwen was confident in her appearance and conversation skills; she didn’t believe any parents wouldn’t like her.
Hearing Gwen say she wanted to visit, Skylar was so excited he clenched his fists by his waist, shouting "yes!" He calmed down sheepishly upon hearing Gwen’s soft laughter. "Sure, my home..." He turned and saw the closed door, suddenly realizing his current predicament, leaving him momentarily speechless.
His dad had a gathering with a comrade today and took his mom out. Before leaving, he made a point of letting Skylar hear him instruct the guard to ensure he definitely couldn’t leave.
The guard at home was incredibly dull, obeying his parents without question. If Gwen came and saw him locked up, where would he put his face?
"What happened to your home?" Gwen asked hurriedly upon hearing his silence.
Skylar gritted his teeth, forcing a smile, "Come on over, I’ll send you my home address." He hung up and went to negotiate with the guard at the door.
"Cole, later my friend will come to see me at home. I’ll tell her you’re the one taking care of me. Got it?"
Cole glanced at him, neither agreeing nor opposing.
Skylar knew this was just his way, "Your silence means consent. Don’t worry, I won’t go out."
After speaking, he closed the door, sent the address to Gwen, thinking it’s nice his parents aren’t around too. He didn’t want to be disturbed.

Meanwhile, Ruby Sullivan was consulting with the head of The Sterling Group’s procurement department about sourcing raw materials.
The essence she desired happened to be the raw material for two high-end cosmetic lines under The Sterling Group, so they always had stable suppliers.
However, the purchasing season was over, and the earliest new batch reservation wouldn’t arrive until after Christmas, with delivery expected around spring next year.
Due to scarcity, the price was immensely beautiful, and every year the company purchased according to production output, not stocking much. Even squeezing out some surplus wouldn’t be enough for launching a new product.
After the head explained the situation, Ruby’s face fell further; every word from the other party implied she seemed to have lost all hope.
Ethan Sterling glanced at his wife’s tearful expression and softly ordered, "Mr. Sinler, Howard, please leave now."
The two people immediately got up and left the CEO’s office upon hearing him.
Ruby could no longer maintain her composure, slumping weakly over his large office desk, "I’m so screwed..." The first day of failing to obtain the raw material made her want to cry, cry, cry.
Ethan Sterling tapped his finger on her head, "How much do you need?"
Ruby straightened up, pouted as she looked at him, "If I only produce ten thousand bottles of this line, I’ll need this amount." She gestured a number with her hands.
Ethan Sterling pondered for a moment, "I can give you half, but there’s a condition."
Ruby wasn’t excited by his offer since his promise meant his own company would take a significant hit.
"Can I refuse?" She knew his absolute authority today was due to last year’s sleepless battles. She didn’t want to ruin the stability he’d fought hard to achieve because of herself. "I could wait a year; I’ve already been resting for so long, I don’t mind a few more months."
Ethan Sterling raised his eyebrows, a bit displeased, "I haven’t finished speaking yet."
He wasn’t unhappy about her interruption but suddenly felt he wasn’t very reliable in this woman’s heart. Despite many uncontrollable factors involved, he couldn’t allow that feeling.
Ruby’s lips drooped further.
Seeing her bitter expression instantly gave Ethan Sterling a headache; he couldn’t resist flicking her forehead, "Smile."
Ruby rolled her eyes, rubbed her forehead in dissatisfaction, "Mr. Sterling, how can you expect me to smile in this situation? Life has already hit me hard enough, and why does this man keep knocking on her forehead? Doesn’t he know she’s not as smart as him?
Ethan Sterling laughed, amused by her sulking demeanor. In Mr. Sterling’s mind, Ms. Sullivan was clearly acting coyly at the moment; coyness is always welcome.
He continued, "I’ll provide for five thousand bottles but not for free. You’ll need to sign a betting agreement with me; if profitable, you’ll compensate me up to triple the loss of this transfer." He wrote a number on paper, "Accept?"
Looking at the number, Ruby hiccuped, "What’s the deadline?"
"By the end of this year." As the company settled accounts at the year’s end, The Sterling Group had to submit financial reports too. This matter indeed bore a significant impact. Her spending of his personal money was fine, but involving company business, this was his maximum leniency.
This wasn’t a small amount; to Ruby Sullivan, currently poor, it was astronomical.
"If... I mean, if I fail and can’t even repay the basic loss, then what?"
Ethan Sterling leaned in suddenly, stealing a kiss from her lips, "Then this man here will have to pay up from his own pocket for what you owe. As for how to settle accounts between you and me..."
He pressed his lips into a straight line, amusedly watching her adorable expression, deliberately drawing out his voice, then suddenly smiled, "I haven’t decided yet."
Ruby blinked, dazzled by his bright smile, then hiccuped again.
She felt she might have been tricked, yet it seemed she gained a lot somehow. This dizzying feeling of unclear credit reevaluation left her anxious yet sweet...
Ruby took a deep breath, feeling she couldn’t be timid.
Those entrepreneurs who earned their first big break with just eloquence had the courage of not caring if they lost someone else’s money to succeed, right? What was there to fear? At worst... she could just rely on this guy; she wouldn’t starve to death.
"Okay, I agree."
