Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 260: Turns Out She’s a Fangirl
"I heard that Gwen Yates’ childhood sweetheart from high school is the captain of the Ariston University basketball team. Recently, he got a girlfriend, and he’s saying he’ll win the university league gold medal for her. Captain Garrison feels it’s unfair for Gwen, so he’s declared he’ll win the championship and confess to Gwen."
"Yeah, yeah, I heard Captain Garrison fell in love with Gwen at first sight during her speech as a freshman representative last year. He’s finally confessing!"
Ruby Sullivan listened eagerly to the gossip around her, feeling she hadn’t been this attentive in a long time.
However, Gwen Yates clearly frowned. Before she could say anything, Brian Hughes, the heartthrob from the broadcasting department across from Felix Garrison, stepped forward. Instead of confessing, he said, "Gwen, you don’t need to feel embarrassed to refuse, and don’t be afraid of causing trouble, I’m here for you."
"Oh my, Brian is so handsome. If I were Gwen, I’d definitely choose him. I heard his family is in business in Suzia, and they’re quite wealthy. Brian is truly a noble gentleman."
A girl watching the drama was getting more and more excited, clasping her hands to her chest as if she were the one being confessed to.
Ruby Sullivan couldn’t help but laugh out loud, which earned her a glare from someone, and she awkwardly shrank behind Ethan Sterling.
Ethan Sterling tilted his head, gave a cold stare, forcing that woman to freeze for a moment. Realizing what happened, she immediately pulled her companion to a more distant spot.
Ruby Sullivan was still focused on the confession scene, unaware her man had been scaring people.
She didn’t mean to ridicule; it just reminded her of those times when Sasha Shaw was always by her side. Whenever she watched such gossip, she’d dream up scenarios herself. Just that every time someone confessed to her, she’d decisively reject them.
"Who do you think she’ll pick?"
Ethan Sterling didn’t quite see where the fun was, but seeing her eyes sparkling, he played along and guessed, "The basketball player, perhaps. He seems more sincere."
"I think the gentle scholar has a better chance. His looks, tsk tsk." Ruby Sullivan squinted, looking a bit starved.
Ethan Sterling’s face suddenly darkened. He put his arm around her neck and said, "Let’s go, no more watching." With that, he turned to leave, not wanting to stay a moment longer.
"Hey, hey, hey, don’t! The outcome is about to be revealed!" Ruby Sullivan was being dragged along painfully, momentarily forgetting to keep her voice down, becoming the center of attention.
Gwen Yates seemed to confirm something, leaving the two confessors behind, rushing in front of Ethan Sterling, "Wait!"
Ethan Sterling frowned, "What’s up?"
Ruby Sullivan was stunned, "You guys know each other?"
"I’m sorry." Gwen Yates looked at Ethan Sterling with rapid breaths, her fair cheeks blooming with a flush, her small eyes shining with joy and admiration, "Are you Mr. Ethan Sterling, an alumnus of Ariston University?"
"Yes."
Ironically, Ethan Sterling never really enjoyed a normal college life, yet he’s an honorary alumnus of Ariston University, especially after The Sterling Group found its footing in Ariston in recent years.
Every year, he receives invitations for school celebrations, and to maintain relations, he’s given a few speeches. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
A smile appeared on Gwen Yates’ nervous face, "Mr. Sterling, I really admire you! I’ve attended your speeches at Ariston University and always hoped to work at The Sterling Group after graduation!"
Ruby Sullivan didn’t expect to encounter an Ethan Sterling fangirl even here and couldn’t help but glance at his expression. Mr. Sterling didn’t seem fazed at all, at least nothing was visible on his face.
She pouted, feeling it was kind of dull. The young girl left two suitors to talk to him, and yet he didn’t show any joy at all; it’s just too harsh.
Indeed, seeing his stern face, Gwen Yates felt somewhat disappointed, "I’m sorry for being abrupt."
"It’s fine, it’s fine, you go for it. The Sterling Group really needs talented people like you." Ruby Sullivan’s aunt instincts kicked in, unwilling to see the young girl unhappy.
"Thank you." Gwen Yates forced a stiff smile, then looked at Ethan Sterling with determination, "During university, I’m not going to date anyone."
"That’s your business." Ethan Sterling said, then continued leading his nosy Ms. Sullivan out.
He didn’t quite like the look in the young girl’s eyes, as if she wanted to establish some connection with him.
Gwen Yates turned to watch his retreating figure, her eyes somewhat misty.
But she was steadfast in her heart, she must join The Sterling Group and let him see her brilliance.
Ruby Sullivan also felt the young girl’s last look was somewhat off. As she walked a few more steps and turned her head back, she couldn’t help but mutter, "Do you recognize this young girl?"
"Yes." Ethan Sterling didn’t want to hide it.
"What?" Ruby Sullivan exclaimed, dramatically leaning in close to sniff him.
Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow.
She slyly asked, "Do you smell a whiff of scandal?"
Ethan Sterling angrily pinched her cheek, "Stop talking nonsense. I could be her dad."
"Nonsense, this girl is a sophomore, she’s probably twenty-one or twenty-two, just a ten-year gap or so. In today’s environment, marrying her as a young wife is quite fitting." Ruby Sullivan continued teasing with unfounded implications.
Ethan Sterling suddenly halted abruptly, turned to face Ruby Sullivan, who was startled, and seriously said, "Stop. Talking. Nonsense!" He didn’t want to reveal any feelings to her but also couldn’t stand her fabricating stories like that.
Ruby Sullivan was stunned by his eyes, blinking somewhat at a loss, feeling as if she had made a grave mistake and wronged him somehow. The next second, as if possessed by some spirit, she stood on tiptoe and left a kiss on his lips.
Though light, it was full of sincerity."
"Satisfied now?"
Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow, pulled her tightly against himself, kissed her on the lips, and muttered, "Not at all."
Along the tree-lined path by the basketball court, the two passionately kissed. Although in a vibrant university campus, it’s hardly a rare sight. But thinking of the occasional passerby glancing over, Ruby Sullivan was embarrassed to death.
But Ethan Sterling’s kiss was too fervent, as if he had been long awaiting release, and like a beast unleashed from its cage to feast on a savory meal, unwilling to relent just yet, purely to enjoy themselves!
Until he felt the body of the woman in his arms going limp did he reluctantly release her lips, teasingly saying, "See if you dare to speak recklessly again."
Ruby Sullivan lowered her blushing like an apple face, grabbing his arm, she briskly walked forward. He’s shameless, utterly shameless, she really didn’t want to say anything anymore!
Ethan Sterling caught up with his long legs, with a slightly upturned corner of his mouth clearly spelling out ’good mood’.
On the way home, although the two didn’t talk much, the familiar songs playing, occasionally joined by them in a small duet, said it all.
Ethan Sterling decided once more that such dates should happen more often.
However, the atmosphere at home wasn’t as harmonious, with little princess Honey throwing a tantrum, and quite a big one too.
