Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 136: For the Sake of the Child
Ruby Sullivan thought that the cocktail was poorly made, and after drinking it, she felt a dry mouth and desperately needed some fruit to replenish her energy.
When Naomi Sinclair called out "Mr. Sterling," she was absentmindedly biting into a piece of apple she had speared with her fork, and met Ethan Sterling’s gaze.
In an instant, it was as if time had rewound. Was he holding or supporting Rhonda Sullivan back then? The memories collided intensely with the current scene in her mind, causing her a bit of confusion.
When she came to her senses, Ethan Sterling had already entered the elevator with Rhonda Sullivan, while she was foolishly holding a fork and an apple, standing at the center of countless sympathetic gazes, unsure whether to bite into the apple or give up.
Naomi Sinclair had already walked up to her, "Wenny, looks like Mr. Sterling won’t be coming back, why don’t you join me in cutting the cake later?"
Ruby Sullivan laughed, not minding breaking the last bit of pretense, "Miss Sinclair, are you embarrassed for me to lose face, or are you really naive?"
Naomi Sinclair blinked, "Here in Ariston, with me as a friend, who dares to laugh at you?"
"The premise is that this friend isn’t loudly coveting my man," Ruby Sullivan retorted.
Naomi Sinclair pursed her lips, at a loss for words.
She wasn’t new to stealing someone’s man but failed this time, albeit happily. She couldn’t understand why she liked this woman whose looks didn’t match her talents. Perhaps it’s because her braised pork was unbelievably delicious.
Naomi Sinclair was never one to linger on things. She liked games where victory was decided in an instant, leaving no time for contemplation.
So, without much hesitation, she forcefully wrapped her arm around Ruby Sullivan’s, or more precisely, hugged her entire arm, "I’m really scared of you now; not coveting him anymore, is that enough?" Compared to Ethan Sterling, braised pork was more tempting!
At this moment, the lights dimmed in the venue, and the massive blind dome slowly opened, a beam of light falling on Naomi Sinclair and Ruby Sullivan, instantly making them the focus of the room.
"Thank you all for coming to my seventeenth birthday party. Yes, after this year, I’m still a minor"—she ended her bold speech amidst celebratory cheers—"a wild life needs no explanation. Peace to the world!" Naomi Sinclair’s bold speech concluded with applause.
Since she turned seventeen, she refused to celebrate any older age, as seventeen was just right for her—a perpetual state of halfway grown-up innocence.
At the moment, she enjoyed the heartless applause of the crowd, waving her hand stylishly to signal for quiet, continuing, "I’m very pleased to have befriended Wenny today." She glanced at Ruby Sullivan’s awkward face and smiled brightly, "Let’s cut the cake together now."

Rhonda Sullivan’s primary doctor was called to the hospital by the dean, completed all the detailed checks, and confirmed the fetus was fine.
Ethan Sterling was anxious, "Then why did she suddenly have stomach pains?"
"It might be related to the mother’s emotions. A three-month-old fetus is still quite unstable, so try to keep the mother happy for the baby’s growth," the doctor explained calmly.
Rhonda Sullivan held his hand weakly, "It’s my fault, I should better control my emotions."
The primary doctor only knew this Mr. Sterling had an unusual relationship with the dean and was unaware of his identity or his relationship with Rhonda Sullivan. Hearing her submissive attitude, the doctor couldn’t help but develop an opinion, "Pregnancy is a lifetime event for a woman, causing unavoidable emotional distress, and as a husband, you should be more understanding."
Rhonda Sullivan smiled bitterly, "He has his difficulties."
Ethan Sterling squeezed her hand gently, saying to the doctor, "I will pay more attention in the future."
The two left the hospital late at night, assuming the party was over. Ethan Sterling initially wanted Howard to drive Rhonda Sullivan home, intending to call Ruby Sullivan to ask where she was, but recalling the doctor’s words, hesitated outside the car and decided to accompany them.
He needed to ensure Rhonda Sullivan would give birth to a healthy baby.
Rhonda Sullivan leaned on his shoulder, holding his hand and softly pleading, "I’ve been sleeping poorly lately at night, could you stay with me tonight?"
Ethan Sterling furrowed his brow, "Okay."
After arriving at The Sterling Family home, he requested Howard to first take Rhonda Sullivan inside while he called Ruby Sullivan, "Are you home yet?"
"Yes, I’m home already. How is Rhonda Sullivan?"
"I might be home late." Ethan Sterling feared hearing anything else she’d say, hastily hung up, and turned back inside.
Meanwhile, on Ruby Sullivan’s end, she hadn’t finished saying, "It’s okay," when she heard the cold beep signifying the end of the call.
She put down the phone, realizing she felt no emotional turmoil, just a bit dazed.
Was she really walking down that same old path again?
Naomi Sinclair waved a hand in front of her eyes, "What’s the matter? You act like you’ve lost your soul after a phone call."
"Nothing." Ruby Sullivan’s lips curled into a reluctant smile, "This is how you make braised pork. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving."
This was Naomi Sinclair’s suite at the hotel, where she stayed overnight every birthday, rising early to watch the sunrise from the top floor.
Splendor Grand Hotel, although not the tallest building in Ariston, ranks in the top three with excellent views and unique sunrise scenery.
"Hey, Mr. Sterling went off with another woman, didn’t he? You’ll just be alone if you go home, why not stay and accompany me?"
"What benefit does staying with you offer?"
"We’re friends now, talking about benefits in friendships is hurtful to feelings," Naomi Sinclair said, hugging her arm and blinking innocently.
"I don’t have emotional ties with you to hurt, we can only discuss benefits." Ruby Sullivan rudely pulled her arm away, suddenly having a moment of realization, instinctively stepping back half a step, "You’re not bi, are you?"
She truly couldn’t fathom why Naomi Sinclair was so persistent in clinging to her. Although she hoped to win her affection with braised pork, she didn’t think the dish’s allure was that significant.
Naomi Sinclair was stunned, then laughed so hard while clutching her stomach, "Rest assured, my orientation in that regard is quite ordinary, although it does seem contrary to my usual unconventional style, but some things, even as remarkable as Miss Sinclair, are still out of reach."
"You have quite the routine." Ruby Sullivan also chuckled, "It’s getting late, and I, the working girl, need to work tomorrow, I’ll be leaving now."
Noticing her earnest intention to leave, Naomi Sinclair called out impulsively, "There’s a benefit! Go tell Mr. Sterling that I agree to the matter he proposed."
If not for tonight’s events, she would have been happy to hear this, but now, she was somewhat hesitant, "Do me a favor, make sure Ethan Sterling and Ruby Sullivan’s matter tonight doesn’t appear in the news."
She didn’t know what Ethan Sterling and Naomi Sinclair discussed, but she understood The Sterling Group couldn’t handle any negative publicity now.
"I can help you, but what do I get in return?" Naomi Sinclair perched on the table, legs swinging back and forth.
