Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 73: What do you girls think you’re doing?
The misunderstanding that was caused over seven years ago all started because of Valerie’s nonchalant character, her indifference and her inability to express her feelings.
They were officially dating yet she showed no excitement about it. It was almost like she had been forced into it.
The recording was given to the dean of the school and the three girls were immediately expelled for trying to carry out such a devious act. They were almost taken to the police because such a thing was a serious crime but Valerie refused to make a big deal out of it.
’If Lucy finds out such a thing happened, she’ll likely try to use those girls against me somehow.’ she thought while seriously doing her assignment at her study table. Then, she paused and pushed her chair back, looking up at the ceiling.
She thought about Max and her face lightly burned. He indeed had a lot of warmth to spare and sharing it through their lips...
She touched her lips... He was a peculiar one but she did not hate him as she thought she did.
In the coming days, she kept to herself. Max approached her a few times, asking how she was doing and if she’d like to walk around the school. Things like that, but she’d simply raise her head, look him in the eyes and then return her gaze to her book after properly adjusting her glasses.
"I’m busy, you can go without me." She said, which was a little disappointing. So she said, "You can help me get milk from the cafeteria."
Hearing this, Max got elated. At least she wanted something from him. He hurried to the cafeteria, leaving his friends behind and went to get his girlfriend the milk she asked for.
’Was that right?’ Valerie wondered. ’I didn’t say too much, did I?’
Her ear slightly flushed but she remained calm and continued writing her assessment.
Just before Max came back from the cafeteria, a group of girls approached her and asked,
"Why are you so mean?" A sassy girl asked but Valerie ignored them, knowing they were only there to cause trouble.
"She’s even ignoring us. What does Max see in such a girl? She’s a cold bitch." Another sassy girl added, flipping her hair back.
"We understand you’re not one to talk but Max is doing all he can for you. Won’t you at least give credit for his efforts?"
Max’s friend group watched this.
"Ah, let’s see how the ice queen solves this problem. Silence won’t be the answer this time." Brian said, looking amused.
"But if those girls cross the line, they’re the only ones who’ll be in trouble." Lance added, observing keenly. "Ice queen, or whatever, she will not let it slide if they try to hurt her."
Just then, Max walked into the class and saw the ground of girls surrounding Valerie while she ignored them, he got mad that they were trying to corner her again.
"What do you girls think you’re doing?" He asked and the girls flinched, turning to see him with a cold gaze, glaring at them.
Valerie raised her head and turned to look at him.
"Did you get it?" She asked and his cold gaze fell, replaced with a sweet smile as he approached her, shoving the girls away.
"Of course." He said and presented the little bottle milk while glaring the girls. "I got the best one for you."
Valerie took it from him and said,
"Thank you."
That was all. There were no more words said but Max was happy that she relied on him on that little errand.
It wasn’t much but he was okay with it.
As for those girls, he turned to glare at them coldly. He didn’t appreciate it when people tried to gang up on Valerie just because she was quiet. If they tried to do anything, he’d crush them and leave no traces for their parents to find.
Of course, he couldn’t say that out loud. But a little warning would suffice.
"Stay away from Valerie." He said out loud. "Anyone who tries to cross her will end up crossing me." He declared, shocking them.
"B-but, she’s using you as an errand boy. How can you take that?" One of the girls asked and Max squinted, stepping close to her with a pressuring presence.
"And did you see me complaining?" He asked. "I do it because I’m happy about it. Even if she wants to step on me, I’ll let her do it. I belong to her as much as she belongs to me."
His declaration that day stunned everyone, including Valerie. She didn’t know he was that serious about their relationship and it made her feel even warmer.
’Maybe I’ll stick with him for a while longer.’ she thought, sipping the milk.
At the end of the day, Max walked Frankie to the bus stop where she took the bus on regular basis.
"Valerie," he called and put a scarf around her neck, surprising her.
"This..."
"It’s a scarf." He said.
"I know it’s a scarf but why did you give it to me?" She asked him but he simply stared at her with a smile on his lips.
"It’s getting cold." He simply said and patted her head. "It’s better to keep warm." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Valerie stared at him, wondering what was going on in his head. They were still in the middle of the year, how was it cold?
Well... She covered her mouth with the scarf, secretly sniffing it to find out it was bathed with his scent and she smiled... It wasn’t so bad.
"Ah, your bus is here." He said and she looked at the bus that was approaching. It felt a little disappointing. She didn’t want to leave yet.
As she walked towards the entrance of the bus, she looked back at him and he raised his hand to wave. She nodded slightly and she got in. Maybe she should’ve waved, maybe she should’ve said something but her mind could not process all these actions smoothly so she thought it best to do nothing than mess up with a single action.
The next day, Max walked her to the bus stop and gave her a letter while blushing like he was standing in front of his secret crush of a long time.
’Why a letter when you can just say the words to me?’ Valerie thought but took it anyway.
Well, this was better. She didn’t know how to respond if he were to tell her face to face.
He waved at her as she got on the bus.
After getting home, she opened the letter and seeing so many calculations, she stifled a laugh. It stunned her that such a thing made her laugh but as a result, she ended up laughing more.
"Seems like he did not have time to rewrite it before giving it to me." She muttered and began to read it.
