Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 64: Dinner at the Ross mansion
Max ended up following Lucy to her family house. Ross mansion. And as he stepped out of the car, he stared at the front of the mansion like he had stepped into a foreign place.
It wasn’t his first time there but he got that feeling.
Maybe it was because he knew Valerie wouldn’t be here and that all his eyes would behold were the fake acts of the evil beings occupying this space.
’Utterly disgusting.’ he thought and just then, Lucy slipped her hand in his and clung onto his arm.
"It’s so nice for you to come over for dinner." She said, smiling gleefully and Max looked down at her with disgust in his eyes, but he quickly erased it and replaced it with a smile.
"Of course. I have to visit your parents from time to time. After all, they’re my in-laws." He said, and the ending of his words crashed heavily on Lucy’s ear.
Though she felt she had misheard it and brushed it off.
"That’s right. But you didn’t have to buy so many things." She said, looking at the guards who were steadily carrying the boxes of gifts Max had bought along the way.
"Nonsense. Do you expect me to come empty-handed? I have to make sure everything is perfect, for you, my dear." He said with a sweet tone that Lucy ended up blushing.
’He’s such a gentleman. I’m so excited that I can’t stop my heart from beating so fast. We’ll be married soon and he’ll be mine.’ she clenched his arm tighter. ’All mine.’
Max watched as she fed herself with so many delusions. It was comical that she was actually paving the way for her downfall without even knowing it, opening her arms to the guy who would stab her in the back and bring her to ruins.
Bring them all to ruins.
Bernard and Victoria made sure to give a warm welcome to Max. They smiled cheerfully and acted like the world was so sunny and filled with nothing but goodness.
It disgusted him. They were better off showing the killing intent they had when they were all so busy trying to get rid of Valerie.
"Glad that you stayed for dinner. Lucy is so head over heels for you that she always wondered when you’d finally come over." Victoria said, causing Lucy to flush.
"Mom, don’t tell him that. It’s embarrassing." She looked away, acting shy, and that all laughed.
"I also find your daughter interesting." Max said, trying his best not to drop his smile.
He was so close to glaring at them, showing them the coldness in his eyes and how much he despised their very existence but he was fine.
Enduring and putting up a fake smile was one of the traits the representative of Stewart had to do perfectly in order to tackle issues that were even bigger than him.
"By the way, lately, I’ve been thinking of a new project and I would like to partner with Ross in this. What do you think?"
This news delighted Bernard and he smiled.
"Of course." He said, "We’re family so it’s only natural that we work together. And besides, who else would better suit this position other than the second biggest Corp." He laughed.
"Haha, you’re right." Max said and squinted his eyes, secretly glaring at him. ’He doesn’t even try to be modest. In a way, he’s trying to say that he’s the only one I should run to if I want to partner with anyone on a business project. How cocky of you.’ he sipped his wine.
A few minutes into the meal, Max stood up and said,
"Excuse me, I’d like to use the restroom."
"Oh, I’ll take you there." Lucy said, attempting to stand but he placed his hands on her shoulders a little too hard that she felt he was trying to press her down.
"No, dear. You should focus on your meal. I’ll just let a servant lead me." He said in a soft tone that she ended up blushing.
"Oh, okay."
She was a fool, falling for his little whispers and his fake words of concern. How did such a person have the same blood flowing through her veins as Valerie?
Well... He glanced at Bernard... It was no wonder why the former head of the family chose his daughter as his successor and had no problem giving his entire fortune to the man she decided to marry, passing the name onto him.
Her brother was not exactly the brightest of minds but Max could say he still had a bit of common sense for keeping Ross as it was to date. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’I can’t believe he’s doing it all in a legit way, though. there must be some shady business underneath. I’ll just have to get in touch with that guy again.’ Max thought, nodding in satisfaction as he followed the servant from behind.
They are a few feet apart and Max would like to keep that distance.
He examined the rooms as they walked past and used the opportunity to ask,
"By the way, I heard the news about what happened here two weeks ago." He started and the servant turned to pay attention to him. "It was really bloody, wasn’t it?"
"Yes. And thanks to that, that room had been declared off limits as it may be cursed." The servant said, revealing way more than Max had expected to hear.
It seems the servants of Ross’ mansion were not as tight-lipped as he thought.
"Then, will you tell me which room it is?" Max asked with an innocent smile. "I don’t want to end up walking into it in case I get lost in the future. Just for precaution. You wouldn’t want me to get cursed, would you?"
The servant frantically shook his head and without suspension or hesitation, he took Max to the room’s door and said,
"It’s this room. Please try not to walk in any time. You may get cursed." The servant asked.
"Hm, is it locked?" Max asked, not fearing that the servant may misunderstand and truly, the servant did not misunderstand and rather answered honestly.
"No, sir. It’s not locked."
’I wonder why.’ he thought and smiled, releasing his charms on this male servant. "Alright, you can take me to the restroom now."
