Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 126: Mom, you’re imposing
The villa by the seaside was the perfect place for a honeymoon and the place where no one would disturb their sweet time together.
Or so Max thought.
"I’ll be imposing on your honeymoon house for now, sweeties." Tiana said, giggling to herself as she knew she had crashed her son’s plans.
"Sure. Go right ahead." Max answered through gritted teeth.
It was clear that he was displeased with this whole arrangement but Tiana couldn’t care less.
Mariam glanced at her phone and said,
"I’ll go out for a moment so don’t look for me." She said and made her way to the door.
"Already have plans and we just arrived? Teens these days." Tiana clicked her tongue. "Oh well, I guess that leaves me and..." By the time she turned to address the couple behind her, she discovered they were gone and she was the only one left in that space. "Oh my, kids these days."
Max took Valerie to the balcony where the view of the sea was very clear and beautiful.
"The sun will set soon." He said to her.
Valerie placed her hand on the railing, gazing into the horizon.
"This brings back memories." She said, smiling softly.
"Which of em? The time I sneaked into your room or the time I gave you somewhere to stay after faking your death in that yacht explosion?" He asked but she chuckled and shook her head.
"Both, actually."
"Hm, how so?"
"You know," she dropped her head on his shoulder. "Though it was clear what your motives were and that you hated me, you were like a prince in shining armor. A beacon of hope."
"Prince? Really? Is that what we’re going with?" He asked and laughed. "I don’t think I’ve heard of any prince in shining armor declaring that he’d make the princess suffer. It’s not in any fairytale, Valerie."
"Oh? Who said anything about fairytales?" She asked, giving him a knowing smile. "I know about a hundred dark romance books where the prince in shining armor literally tortures the princess at the start. Yours can’t even compare, hubby."
"Ah, of course." He shoved his fingers into his air and swiped it back. "I did nothing compared to what those lunatics did. Haha. And I like it that way."
"Hm, you know," Valerie suddenly became sultry again, trailing her long thin fingers up his sleeves and towards his shoulder. "There are a couple of things we haven’t done that I wish to try."
Knowing what that look in her eyes entailed, Max looked away and tittered.
"Valerie, Valerie, Valerie. I don’t know if this is a habit but you have a knack for waking up lions."
"You didn’t know?" She leaned in, raising her height through her toes, and said, "It’s because I like that particular lion." She grinned. "How about it?"
"I..."
"So you two were here." Tiana intentionally interrupted them.
She wrapped her arms around their necks joyfully and said,
"Ah, it’s nice going on vacation with my kids from time to time."
"You’re imposing, Mom." Max said with an irk on his forehead.
"Is that what this seems to you?" She asked and they both nodded. "Haha, I’m glad then. It’s exactly what I was planning to do." She laughed. ’I won’t let you two get to it this time of the day. This old lady feels lonely and wants to have dinner outside. I don’t want to be alone.’ she thought to herself. "Let’s go out to have dinner."
"Alright, mother. I’ll just get dressed into something decent. Give us a minute, mother." Valerie said.
"Oh? But you’re already dressed quite decently." Tiana pointed out.
"No, trust me. There are far better choices than what I am wearing right now." Valerie said.
"Okay, if you say so. But I’m taking this son of mine with me, so you won’t get distracted and waste more time." She winked and pulled Max with her as she left.
Valerie gave out a sigh and looked into the horizon once more.
"The view is nice." She muttered.
It took a few minutes to get changed and once she was ready, they all went out to grab something to eat. Mariam said she wouldn’t be joining since she would have dinner with who she was seeing so it was just them.
"Ah, that was nice." Tiana said.
"This was supposed to be a honeymoon date." Max grumbled and though Tiana heard it, she acted like she didn’t.
Valerie understood why he was grumbling. Well, he did look forward to this honeymoon. But oh well, it’s not like they hadn’t done anything a couple on their honeymoon hadn’t done.
He probably just wanted peace and quietness.
"Speaking of which, is your sister seeing anyone?" Mariam asked and they paused.
"Not that I know of." Max answered. "Why? Did you overhear her conversation on the phone by chance?"
"Hm," she thought back to what she saw but just shook it off. "Well, it’s not my place to pry. I just don’t want her to get involved with questionable people."
"I understand." Max said. "I’ll have people track down her whereabouts right away."
"That’s not what I meant, though." Tiana said and placed her hand on her head. "You know what? Forget it. I’m sure your sister can do just fine on her own. She should be capable of knowing who the bad eggs are."
Mariam got home without a hitch and the next day, they got ready for prom.
"Oh my, you look so gorgeous." Mariam blushed, hearing her mother’s compliment.
"Thanks, Mom." She said. "But I don’t think I come close to gorgeous when standing next to sister Valerie." She said and all eyes went to Valerie who was simply watching from the side with her blue sparkly dress and nearly transparent shawl.
"How did I get dragged into this once more?" She asked, smiling awkwardly.
"Well, Valerie’s an exception." Max said, stepping forward. "I bet you’ll be the most beautiful amongst everyone in your class."
"Well, thanks but there’s someone else who’ll be prettier than me." She said, blushing lightly. "Her hair is like golden threads weaved together, her skin is like porcelain glass and her smile is really sweet. She..." Mariam paused, seeing shocked eyes on her. ’Darn it, I said too much. They’ll be suspicious of me right away.’
"I was definitely not expecting that." Max said, and Valerie shook her head.
"Neither did I."
"Oh dear, when did my daughter become a poet?" Mariam asked and everyone laughed. "So, there is indeed someone you hold dear in your heart. Go ahead, daughter. I’ll cheer you on."
"I appreciate your eagerness to support me, Mom, but there’s honestly no need for that." Mariam said.
"Why not? With your looks, I’m sure she won’t be able to stand you up." Max added.
"Well, she will never know about my feelings because I don’t plan on confessing, ever." Mariam said and they all fell silent.
"Why?"
"It’s because she’s not like me and... She has a boyfriend."
The bomb dropped and they all exclaimed similarly,
"Oh."
The heartbreak of every teen in love. When they realize that the person they like likes someone else.
Mariam thought they had finally given up, but then her brother brought up a crazy suggestion.
"Well, do you want us to help you separate them?"
"What?!"
"Hm, we can frame her boyfriend for cheating. And when she’s all broken down, you’ll be there to lend a shoulder. That works out too, yeah?" Valerie suggested.
"What the...? Sister Valerie, you too?"
"Or we can just..." Max slit his throat with his thumb and grinned. "Feed him to the dogs."
Mariam was horrified. Where were these suggestions coming from?
"Hold on," Tiana spoke up and for a moment, Mariam thought her mother was going to talk some sense into them. But then, she heard her say, "...that’s not the way to go about these things." She said, her eyes turning devious. " Let’s threaten him and make him break up cleanly. Fair, right? And if he refuses, we can go with my son’s suggestion. That way, we leave no witness alive. Muhahaha."
The three of them snickered and Mariam blinked in disbelief.
"Gosh, you guys are so villainous."
"Hey, you have the same blood running through you. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t do the same if you were in my shoes." Max retorted and Mariam gave it some thought.
"I never really thought of it but don’t you guys think it’s going too far with those suggestions?"
"As long as it benefits you, nothing is going too far." Max stated.
"Jeez, thanks for the encouragement." She said and turned away from them to hide the little blush on her cheek. "It’s great to know I have you guys backing me up but it’s okay. I already made up my mind to give her up."
"Hm, if you say so." They shrugged. "Just let us know if you change your mind. We’ll do anything to support you." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Well, now, let’s get going."
They made their way out to Mariam’s school, which happened to be Cambridgeshire, Tiana’s alma mater.
"Gosh, I haven’t been here in ages." Tiana said, staring at the building. "It’s been so long yet the building doesn’t look rusty one bit. Guess all that donation is being used wisely."
Just then, another car pulled up next to hers and a girl with blonde hair came out of the car.
As soon as she saw the party in front, more specifically, Mariam, she waved her arm up high.
"Mariam, over here." She called out and Mariam turned around to see her.
"Stephanie?" She called and rushed towards her.
"Oh my God, we’re so in sync that we arrived at the same time." Steph said and giggled.
"Blonde hair and porcelain skin." Valerie muttered.
"Yup, she’s definitely the one."
Stephanie looked past Mariam and smiled at the others.
"Are they your family?" She asked and Mariam nodded.
"Yes. This is my brother, his wife, and my mom." She said and went ahead to introduce Stephanie. "This is Stephanie. Stephanie Romaine."
The last name shook all three of them.
"Wait, did you say Romaine?"
"Yes, I am a Romaine. Pleasure to meet you."
