Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 221: A little girl - I
Salvatore hissed at the sudden stamp that he felt underneath his foot. He looked at what it was before he gritted his teeth and cursed, "fu—"
Before he could complete the word, he caught bright blue eyes speaking at him from the side.
"—udge." He completed it.
Looking back at the small piece of Lego, he pushed it away with his fort.
Salvatore kept looking at the little girl before narrowing his eyes at her. "Why are you out of your bedroom?"
She had been purposely given the room that was next to Evelyn so that he would not have to see much of her and not only him but everyone else as well.
That was one way to keep a small girl safe when the world did not know about her.
The little girl kept on staring at him with huge eyes and before blinking them, "Mumma?"
Her voice was so soft that it felt like he was in a trance when he heard it at first.
Mumma? She had asked. "She got hurt, the doctors are fixing her up."
The bright Blue eyes had a fleeting thought of suspicion in them. It was almost comical to how this little girl felt suspicious of what he just told her. She was only two, and acted like a 5 or 6 year old almost like Vittorio.
"Can I meet her?"
"No,"
"Why?"
"Because I said so." Snapping at the girl was not an option, and he barely controlled himself in not doing so.
"Who are you?"
Fuck, definitely had to get a test that would define if this girl was Evelyn’s daughter or not because she definitely knew how to push his buttons.
He was one of the most powerful people to walk on the planet, both legally and illegally. He had enough money to make sure if he did not want a person to exist while they were alive, he made it happen.
So frankly speaking, his second name was power that was something he could not tell a kid especially when she had no idea of the world they lived in.
"Do you live with mama?" She chirped again, taking One step closer to him out of brevity. "Can I meet her at the hospital?"
"No," Salvatore replied, as gently as possible, "hospitals have diseases and children fall sick quickly. Also, they also disturb the patients at times."
Harsh words worked the best at times.
She quickly shook her head. "but I only will see her from far away! I won’t even talk!" To emphasize on the last sentence she even placed a finger on her lips.
Alright, he’d agree that she looked close to how cute his niece was, but that was it.
The girl barely came up to his knees but had the strength of someone she called mother. With the back talk, it was obvious that she was not afraid of him yet and not that she had to, he had simply not given her a reason to be afraid of him.
Perhaps, he should think of rectifying that soon. At the end of the day the kid had to understand that he was someone she just could not get away from.
"Where is your nanny?" He ended up asking the question. "I made it known that you were supposed to stay with her at all times."
The appointment of the nanny had been necessary given that he was going to use Evelyn for other things and that women employed was trained to defend herself and the people she was employed for, at any moment.
The nanny was good at child psychology and that shit. She had been recommended to him by Bella Rosa who had considered hiring the woman herself for Alessia.
The girl shrugged. "Dunno."
"Don’t know?" Salvatore repeated before scoffing in irritation. It did not matter who the nanny was, if she had lost our below on the first day itself.
"Follow," He muttered before walking to the room that was right next to Evelyn’s. Just as Salvatore was about to open the door, he turned around to glance behind him.
Not finding the little girl directly behind him, his eyes move to the same spot where they had previously been, which was near the stairs.
"Come," Salvatore snapped his fingers, beckoning her close but then realized his mistake when the girl stepped back.
It was difficult to treat all the little girls as family but he had to accept the fact that Arabella was now as important to him as alessia was.
"Arabella," he started out gently before pointing his finger at the room in front of which he was standing, "this is your room and I want you to take a look inside."
"My room?" She whispered and Salvatore nodded. He waited with extreme patience when the little girl slowly started to make her way towards him.
Licking her lips and playing with her fingers was something Arabella did a lot. Slowly she came to a stop in front of him and Salvatore opened the door to the room.
Arabella did not immediately go in and Salvatore understood why. She was not going to go in until he was standing inside with her.
Opening the door wide open, he moved inside and stood near her bed. At first a small had appeared as she glanced around the room, before taking a hesitant step in.
"My room?"
"Yes," he confirmed.
"But it is so big." She gasped before looking at the play area. "The dolls?"
"Yours."
Her eyes widened and she made a beeline toward it.
The almost three year old kid now focused completely on the Playpen and the dolls. By the looks of what he had found, arabella did not own a lot of toys and it made sense because Evelyn was constantly moving.
He huffed before rolling his eyes and walking out. He had never imagined a day where he was catering to the needs of a kid that was not even his own.
"Fuck," he muttered before sitting in the car and nodding at the driver to go.
