Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 220: An ugly, old friend - III
"Who?" Slipped out of her mouth before the bouquet of roses lowered and Evelyn could finally run her eyes over his face.
The piercing green eyes, shaggy brown hair, and the cutoff to inches made it all come back to her.
It had been years since they last met and she could recognise the mischievous look anytime and anywhere because she had basically grown up with it.
"Matty!" She whispered in amazement, "it’s you!"
How long has it been? More than three obviously but definitely more to than that. Looking at him once again, Evelyn could tell that he had matured alot and luck had favoured him because with the looks nd the clothes he wore, he must be living quite a good life.
The man grinned before winking at her. "You got that right, Bianchi. Looking a bit weak there—"
"Stop," Salvatore’s one word that halted both of them. "Stop right there."
For a moment she had forgotten about him standing there. She had blatantly ignored him and that was not going to go well for her especially the fact that Salvatore did not know who she was talking about.
"This is Matthew, Salvatore." Evelyn introduced the names. "Matthew was one of my father’s accountants." her father many and with the number of business; both legal and illegal, he needed many people, porfessioanlly trained, to make sure that his money was not begging stolen.
"Accountant," Salvatore muttered before looking at Evelyn and scoffing, "You call your father’s employees by name?"
Shit.
That was something that would never be normalised. No one, if not in the business and knowing someone personally, would know anyone in the business unless highly ranked and with the permission to come in the house.
But Evelyn did not just treat Matthew like an employee of her father but rather like a friend and that was mostly because they were almost the same age growing up and he was just..around.
"I’ve known him since childhood, Salvatore." She crossed her arms in front of her chest. "We are the same age too. He is twenty-five, only a year older than me."
"And perhaps that is enough for you to establish relationships with him?" his words were sharp and they hit right on the wall. "Tell me, Evelyn, where has he been until now?"
He was away, her father had sent him away. "London, he was studying there." Evelyn could feel herself burning in humiliation and did not even look at matthew. "Father sent him there."
"Matthew’s skills will be tested later on. Get out." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Ge-" she looked up but fell silent. He was not talking to her.
Salvatore was looking at Matthew and no doubt the words had been meant for him.
"Sal-"
a guard opened the door and grabbed Matthew by the scruff of his neck before dragging him out. "Hey!" Matthew yelled, taken aback by the sudden grip over his neck but the guard didn’t relent and no matter how much he kicked and screamed, the guard did not leave or even loosen his grip.
Evelyn watched everything with a dazzled expression before her eyes moved to Salvatore when her friend was out of the door and she gulped.
The man was already looking at her.
"Why do you think your father sent him away, Evelyn?"
"I..uh.." she gulped again, "before he wanted to study?" and that her father was probably making a future investment by trapping the boy because he paid for his education.
It was no brainer that Matthew would have to work for her father for his entire life to repay his loan or with heavy interest applied, he would have to pay every penny back.
Salvatore grinned and the wolfish smile made her realise hoe off the track she was.
"No my dear, Evelun." he cooed like she a five year old kid, "he did it because no boss wants his daughter fucked in a closet with cleaning supplies inside it!"
She lowered her head when his glare intensified. For heaven’s sake, she was off the track, she had completely abandoned it. That was true. Many people suspected him and maybe, as unwilling as she was in agreeing to this, his words might be true.
"Rest up," he pulled back his cold composure, "we will take you home once the doctor gives his get go." without a word of goodbye or even waiting for her reply, he exited the room without a look back.
The same time the front door closed, the other door inside her room opened and dante stepped. "My recommendation," he laughed and evelyn waited to hear his thoughts, "don’t go in there for a while."
"Wait," she frowned, "what?"
He pointed to the door and her face scrunched up before the realisation stepped in. At the sight of her disgusted face, he laughed and exited the room leaving her to be the only one here.
The gruesome silence settled in and she closed her eyes. Nothing could be done and all she could do now was actually rest.

After thousands of tests later, Evelyn was back in her bed with a meal and on her side of Alexis. Her mood had dimmed slightly when she woke up and found her instead of Salvatore on her side but she could not just choose, right?
She peaked at Alexis who was reading a book. Maybe, she could give it a go?
"Um," She hesitantly started, "do you know where salvatore is?"
Alexis looked up and a scowl settled on her face, "You don’t know?" she asked before closing the book. "I thought you did and I was about to ask you about it. Angelo sent me here."
Angelo did? "And salvatore?" she asked with a little bit of hope.
Alexi gave her a shake of her head, "I don’t know, honestly. He must have told something to angelo."
Yeah, he must have. Evelyn nodded and focused on her food. It was fine, she was not a priority, especially after two years of betrayal.
She understood it just fine.
