Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 182: Too late - III
Numb.
Blank.
Empty..
And any other possible synonym that could signify a hollow sinking feeling and her chest could be used.
All she did was stare into his eyes. All she could do was stare into his eyes and she did this until she no longer knew what to do.
The name of the man who stood in front of her sat on the tip of a tongue but Evelyn did not know how to say it.
It was right there, right on the edge but the word refused to slip out of her mouth.
Somehow it made her feel that if she would take the name and whisper it out it would turn out to be true. Maybe Salvatore was not really here. Maybe it was just an illusion of her mind that had been there out of fear.
Afterall fear, could make people do a lot of things. Hallucination was probably a part of that.
Perhaps if she closed the door he would go away and maybe she could have a proper sleep.
Her hand was previously on the door and it slid down slowly to the door knob and twisted so that the lock would go inside.
Evelyn gulped as she slowly started to close the door.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk,"
She froze in the middle of her action. The door covered half of her face from him.
"Why would you choose to do that?"
His hand covered the edge of the door making Evelyn jolt away from it.
Taking off her hands of the door, she stepped back a few paces as he opened the door and stepped into her apartment.
On seeing him enter, her tongue licked chapped lips before stepping back into the apartment enough to have enough space for him to pass without having to touch her.
There was something about his presence. It was so overwhelming that Evelyn found it circle around her like a huge snake and squeeze her to her end.
She had been late in telling Evelyn that Salvatore had found her. She had been utterly and devastatingly late and this was going to cost Evelyn a lot.
He occupied the same seat that Marcelo had once occupied when he was free. Even though everyone was still facing the door and Salvatore had walked past her and occupied the space on the single seater couch, she could feel his eyes that were on the back of her.
He was watching her and Evelyn was watching the closed door.
"This is your house Evelyn," she closed her eyes and swallowed, "come sit."
Turning around at his words, she slowly made her way to the seating area that was only two steps away from her. She occupied the seats that were the farthest.
Somehow he had grown bigger in those two years.
Salvatore was more menacing than he had ever been as someone who was married to heaven and someone who had heard about him from circles that she was in, Evelyn knew that something has changed in him drastically.
She could feel the tears building in her eyes out of fear and helplessness. He was there right in front of her and was sitting inside her apartment. Now there was nothing that she could do.
Now there was nothing and no one that could help her.
"How.." she whispered and sniffed, not wanting to cry in front of him. Her shaking hands had given him the proof that level and was scared enough.
Evelyn was wearing jeans today. She placed her hands in between her thighs and fisted them tightly, trying to to take out the shakiness in them.
However she failed miserably. The tighter she fisted her hands, the more they shook.
"Oh, I think it is your fault that I found you." Salvatore pointed out in his neutral voice. His arms were arrested on the arms of the chair and nothing moved apart from his mouth when he spoke.
"M-My mistake?" She stuttered, staring at him and wondering along with finding the spot where she could have missed wiping off a trace of herself.
He nodded for the first time with his hand moving, making Evelyn clenched her fingers and toes. Her immediate thought he was going to pull out his gun and shoot her then and there and in her story forever but instead he pointed to the room where her bedroom was. "Go into your room and get my brother."
Her mouth fell open. He knew?
But she had destroyed every bit of evidence. She had destroyed the bracelets he wore, along with the rings and especially his cell phone.
Then how did he manage to find his brother?
When she did not respond or rather delayed the one she was supposed to give, his eyes narrowed slightly.
"Move."
The word was enough for her to get up and run back into her room. She opened the cupboard and Marcello’s eyes snapped open before they narrowed on her.
The disapproval of being woken up from his sleep Was clear from looking at his eyes but Evelyn did not pay much attention to him. She focused on taking the gag from his mouth and then opening the shirts that she had tied on to his wrists and ankles.
"What now?" He grumbled and waved her a way to move with his hand. When Evelyn stepped away from him he stretched out his legs and she heard the cracks.
"Even though this vacation was uncomfortable, I appreciated the sleep I received." He yawned loudly with the sound coming from his mouth as he got out of the cupboard. "You should work on your hosting skills."
Evelyn had never felt the strong urge to smack someone across the face.
Marcello’s eyes narrowed at her very slightly and this time it was out of amusement and not irritation. "I know you discarded every bit of evidence that was available to you."
He chuckled and leaned into to her side and placed his lips were right next to her ear, "but I have a cock piercing and people do not check for those."
Pulling away, Marcelo gave her a wink before he sauntered out of the room leaving Evelyn staring at where he was in the cupboard.
