Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 134: A bitter baby - I
Home?
"But why?" She could not help but ask him that. What was the reason for them to go back when they were already on the way to London?
"Is everyone alright?" There has to be a very serious reason if Salvatore was stepping back from his commitment.
"Yes, they are fine." He waved if off and Evelyn noticed that he had not at all looked at her. He had been looking down at his phone, swiping his hands and narrowing his eyes at the device.
Why was he not paying her attention?
"Salvatore," Evelyn began, "what’s wrong?"
This time Salvatore looked up and gave her a smile before he said, "Evelyn is fine Evelyn why don’t you go to sleep. We have a 10 hours of journey ahead of us."
That was all he said because after that Salvatore stood up and walked into a chair that was attached to a small table where his laptop was.
Evelyn remained in the seat as she stared at the departing back of her husband. What happened all of a sudden that she was not getting any time of his?
******
This flight has been the longest flight of her life. She spent the entire time staring at the roof or staring out of the window and at the end she had finally fallen asleep.
She felt herself being shaken awake. It was the air hostess who had taken it upon herself to wake Evelyn up.
And that was not even the part where Evelyn was confused. It was the part where she noticed that she was still on the couch and this time Salvatore had not shifted her to the bed.
He was not even here to begin with. Salvatore was not in the plane and it was just her and the air hostess.
"Where is he?" Evelyn turned to look at the air hostess who answered,
"He is waiting downstairs, madam."
Downstairs? Downstairs meant that he had already gotten off the plane without her. He had not even had the courtesy to wait for her or even wake her up?
What the hell happened?!
She furiously wore her coat before moving out of the plane and stepping down the stairs only to come to a halt when she saw that he was not even waiting outside for her. He was already in the car.
The driver was the one who had opened the door for her and Evelyn marched to the car before sliding into the seat and having the door closed behind her.
He was already on his phone talking to someone which only put Evelyn into a disadvantage because she could not start barking at him while he was on the call.
10 hours.
At some point of the drive Salvatore had been off of his phone but this time Evelyn did not pay attention to him rather continued to stare outside the window.
They could talk when they reached the apartments.
Slowly she started to notice the fact that they were not going on the way to the apartments. In fact they had not even come near the area.
"Where are we going?" She whispered knowing that in the closed space he could easily hear her.
"New house." He gave her a clipped answer and nothing more than that.
What was with him?!
"You bought a new house?" She repeated for clarification. "What about the apartments?"
He didn’t answer.
Salvatore did not even glance towards her. He continued to fiddle with his phone instead.
10 to 20 minutes later, the car came to a stop in front of a mention that was bigger than the house she was born in.
Wasn’t even supposed to be called a mansion in the first place?
It was huge and how it appeared to be from the outside and she was sure that the insides were going to be no less.
The driver opened her door again and Evelyn stepped out of the car and followed Salvatore inside. He did not wait for her nor did he give her the impression that she was able to follow him.
Which is why Evelyn had stopped in the middle of the entryway and to the beginning of the living room. She was admiring all of it when she had a snap of finger, "Follow, Evelyn."
Follow? She raised her eyebrows. Might as well tell her to sit, lie down and roll over her belly like a dog.
Nevertheless she did as told.
Evelyn followed him as he walked up the stairs. She did not have much time to be introduced to the house but she knew that Marco was going to be available and he would know every inch of the house already.
If not her husband then it would have to be the butler that would introduce her and give her a tour of the mansion.
He took her to a room which Evelyn was not familiar with. Once she was inside and standing in the middle of the room he closed the door and pointed for her to sit on the bed.
"Why?" She blurted out. Why did she have to sit?
"Because with what I have to say you won’t be able to take it standing up." The words send a small shiver down her spine. She stared at him and waited for him to elaborate further but when he did not for a few seconds, Evelyn knew that this conversation was not going anywhere unless she would sit on the bed.
So, she did as told again without a word of protest. Evelyn sat on the bed and stared at him waiting for him to go ahead.
"The night before your father passed away, Where were you?"
What was with that question? "I was in a club?"
Salvatore nodded. "And with who?"
That she did not remember. Evelyn had to shake her head.
That made Salvatore scoff. "You don’t know?" He repeated. A smirk into his face as he moved further into the room where a small table was. Picking up the file he walked to her and dropped it right beside her.
"Read it."
