Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 109: The Dinner Party - III
Evelyn did not make any haste while going to his office. She remembered it was even if she had gone there only once or maybe twice. At the moment her brain was not functioning, so it was difficult for her to come up with how many times she had been there.
The moment she stood in front of the office whose door was guarded by two guards. She knocked on the door with a heavy hand making sure that the knock was heard inside the office.
A static sound came from the guy that stood on her right and he leaned to the side before nodding to himself.
"Excuse me," he said and stepped closer to the door, making Evelyn step back. She watched as he opened the door for her.
Moving inside Evelyn stayed at the man who was staring back at her. The door closed behind her making her slightly jump and realise that there was no way out of this and the door was not opening until the former Don allowed it to be opened.
Which he was not going to allow until he had heard what he wanted to hear and spoken what he wanted to say.
"Good night sir—I mean, good evening sir," she corrected herself instantly. What did she mean by good night? Could she slap herself in front of him?
He nodded back but did not remove his eyes from her. "Come and sit down, Evelyn.’
Slowly she moved to the front and took the chair that was on the side instead of the middle one. Perhaps not being in front of him would help her more.
With the constant eyes of his on her, Evelyn found it difficult to even breathe much less answer if he asked her anything, which by now he had not.
What was it that this family had with their eyes? Everyone apart from Alexis had the same eyes as Aneglo, and no, she was not talking about the eye colour but the eyes that they had that could control everyone and their movements. Evelyn would not be shocked to know if they could actually control the thoughts of others.
"I heard about what happened at salvatore’s house."
Evelyn processed but he said before her eyes widened. How did he know what happened at Salvatore’s house this evening?
When Angelo had planted spies in the home of a child there was no way he could know what happened in between the two of them in Salvatore’s office.
Even Marco could not have had it because they were merely whispering to each other.
Evelyn could feel her face turn red at what he said. How in the world did he know and why was he addressing it!
"Um . ." She fidgeted, "to be honest it was not that serious." She blurted out. "I mean none of us were thinking straight and—"
"I apologize for the attack that was carried out on my son’s house while you were in there." He cut her off. "You were under my protection and clearly failed to protect you."
They did. That was the absolute truth and Evelyn could not deny it even if she wanted to be polite.
The attack that had been carried out in Salvatore’s house had endangered her life which was something that Angelo had taken in his hands when he had agreed to give his protection to her. Having been under an attack was a clear failure for Angelo because he had failed to protect her.
"It was unexpected, Sir." Nevertheless Evelyn tried to take the attention off of her. "I don’t think even Don Salvatore was aware that it would happen in his house."
It was no joke to be attacked in their house. Homes were sacred especially if families were living in them. So attacking one’s house was a clear indication of war and it was not taken lightly.
Another thing that Evelyn had to consider was if Angelo felt like he had failed in his protection of her and could not do better than what he had done, he could ask her to leave and if he did Evelyn knew she would not survive.
The first time that she would have to deal with her own family members and she knew would cut her open for the money she had which now was actually millions.
The zeroes were enough for them to cut her into a million pieces.
Angelo lightly gave her a shake of his head which she could have easily missed. "The problem is that we could have done better. Alessandro’s security is impenetrable and if one is not a family member they cannot enter at any time." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Which is probably why Salvatore had asked her to give them a list of people that she would have over at his house.
"Having an attack on his house is an insult to the dawn and my son has taken care of it. However, I know that you were hurt."
Evelyn’s eyes widened very slightly but she controlled them. Was this the time that he would actually apologize to her for his failure?
"I heard that you were dating my son. There are rumours since you are seen outside for dinners and lunches. Is that true?"
She blinked twice at the certain change in topic. Was it something that she had missed? Had she zoned out for longer than she intended to be because there was something that she missed here.
"Um," she cleared her throat, "we are dating, sir."
And whatever it was that Angelo wanted to do with the information he could.
"How long have you been dating?’ His monotone voice did not give away if he was angry or happy about it. "Did you start dating recently or immediately after we left?"
"It h-has approximately been one month." Or not, who cared. Evelyn was not counting days.
He nodded. It was a very slow nod and this time Aneglo was looking on his table instead of her.
After a very long time that he had spent thinking, Angelo finally looked up, "you should get married."
