When the boys entered the Great Hall for breakfast the next day, they finally learned what Dumbledore had meant by the changed curriculum.

Professor McGonagall passed down the parchments that detailed the new Credit System for third- and fourth-year students.

"That old fool has gone nuts!" Draco hissed, looking at the 9-foot-long parchment.

Neville almost passed out as he kept unrolling it, his face losing all smiles from the fun the boys had last night in the dormitory.

He wasn’t alone in that, though.

Even Harry, Ron, and Black were reading the details with their mouths hanging open. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

There was almost no change in the subjects, but how the students would approach the matter was changed from the roots.

For example, the Defense Against the Dark Arts for third years ordinarily included studying various dark creatures and how to handle them. However, as per the new curriculum, less emphasis was given to the study itself and more to practical knowledge. The sentence saying that the students must know how to tackle these dark creatures in person was written in the boldest letters.

The same was true for Potions, where it said that students must learn how to use each potion practically and how to store them properly on themselves for emergency uses.

Charms, Herbology, and Transfiguration each held their own tweaks, too.

The worst affected were History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, and elective subjects like Divination and Ancient Runes, with only one lecture in an entire week.

And as they read about the Credit System, it became clear why it was so.

"Battle Workshop?!" the boys voiced aloud, exchanging glances.

The Triwizard Tournament last year, despite a strong start, had ended with a blank slate.

The act of the Dark Alliance attacking MACUSA had forced the other two Schools’ heads to go back to their schools to see to the safety of their students.

Still, the ministry had already selected a great number of graduates for Auror training based on their performance during the Intra-School and Inter-School Competitions.

It was obvious that the ministry wanted to capitalize on the tournament’s popularity to push the students in the same direction.

However, the Intra-School Competition, which included duels last year, seemed to have undergone a drastic change.

"So, teachers or seniors from fifth and sixth years will take these Battle Workshops," Harry concluded when they had gone through all of it. "And based on our performance in these Workshops, they will award us Credits."

"It seems so..." Ron gulped, seeing the vast amount of Spells. "If we want to participate in the Triwizard Tournament next semester, then not only do we need to get a set number of Credits, but..."

"... but we also need to hoard as many as we can," Black finished.

"They..." Draco said, as all the boys looked at one another. "... are really preparing us for a fight."

"It was about time, wasn’t it?" George said, suddenly appearing behind them.

"Yes," Fred nodded, appearing next to him. "Be prepared to do our bidding..."

"Or—" George said, winking and smiling, "—we will not mark you fairly!"

"That’s loads of crap!" Ron hissed. "Who would make you two..."

Fred suddenly revealed a Scroll and showed it to the four boys.

Congratulations, George Weasley and Fred Weasley, you two have been chosen as the Facilitators for the Battle Workshop on Use of Magical Devices for Diversion and Subterfuge for the third year students.

Ron’s jaw dropped.

The Weasley twins high-fived each other and then went away, leaving behind a shocked group of third-year students.

"We are doomed..." Ron cried.

"Stop whining," Black said. "There must be more to it. Otherwise, why didn’t George and Fred open the scroll all the way, huh?"

Ron’s eyes lit up.

"It’s hard to admit..." a voice rang behind them. "... but Black is right."

The boys turned and looked in that direction and saw Hermione and Daphne.

"What do you mean?" Harry asked.

"Just like we will earn Credits from these Workshops," Hermione explained, "the fifth- and sixth-years will, too, for their tournament. It will depend on how well the students perform under them and the average Credits of the students in that Workshop. So, don’t worry. They have no choice but to mark every student fairly."

"Those two..." Ron fumed.

"I suggest you all finish your breakfast soon," Hermione said, going away. "Divination class is held at the North Tower. It’s quite far."

...

"... Quite far..." Black panted, leaning over Draco’s shoulder. "That... fox! She played us!!"

It wasn’t quite far.

It was VERY far!

Coming here was less a journey and more a quest, with them losing their way six times, forcing them to ask the paintings for directions.

Harry and Ron took deep breaths, leaning against a wall, holding their stomachs.

"Now... what?" Draco licked his lips after a few minutes, trying to straighten his spine. "Dumbledore forced me to use Acute Perception last week... to find those Cursed Vaults by constantly Apparating with me to random locations in Hogwarts. Even then, we didn’t come here..."

As if that was a cue, a trapdoor on the ceiling that said — Sibyll Trelawney, Divination teacher — opened, and a silvery ladder descended between the four students.

One by one, they began climbing up the stairs.

At last, Black put his foot on the ladder and stopped.

It was like the world had suddenly opened its incomprehensibly vast eyes, its gaze falling right over him.

"This isn’t like you..." Black said, narrowing his eyes. "What happened?"

[Be careful,] Timeline replied, Her voice reaching Black’s Source. [Trelawney is special. Your enhanced Charisma will have no effect on her. It’s best if you don’t interact with her at all.]

"Special?" Black asked. "What do you mean?"

For a while, Timeline didn’t reply.

But Her gaze was still pressed upon him, as if She was contemplating the reply.

[Sibyll Trelawney’s Divinations can dictate the fate of an individual,] Timeline said. [It doesn’t matter if that individual is a Contestant. Even things that are not meant to happen will happen if she divines them so.]

"That’s ridiculous..." Black scoffed. "Can’t you..."

[No, I cannot prevent it from happening, either, because...] Timeline said as Her presence vanished. [... Trelawney draws her powers directly from the — Bubble.]
